It was mostly directed at Plum, but you aren't completely free of guilt either, although most of your posts reveal you as a dickwad rather than as an idiot.

What do you mean? Can you please give me some recent examples of my "dickwad" posts?Tobbe wrote:It was mostly directed at Plum, but you aren't completely free of guilt either, although most of your posts reveal you as a dickwad rather than as an idiot.
Re: Off Topic
It's because it sounds just stupid saying it "20-oh-nine." Though, I did hear it said that way on plenty of car ads. I said it "two-thousand-nine," just because it was easier, and now it's easier just saying "20-10." Plus if you put "and" in on numbers (e.g. "two thousand and nine") you're really denoting a decimal point somewhere.El Dango wrote:Lol!I'm not sure. After 2000-2009, people are used to say it that way. I don't think it will change until 2100.Acarr wrote:I'd say it's because we're all just used to saying it as "two thousand and...". In a few years time, I bet everyone will be saying it as "twenty..." without thinking.

Re: Off Topic
People just got too used to 2000-& and it's too hard to get rid of now. Stupid really.
Re: Off Topic
And this whole time, I thought the whole purpose of creating speech errors in saying numbers was to save yourself from using extra syllables.
Re: Off Topic
Twentyten or twothousandandten? Isn't twothousandten an option?

I grew up thinking anymore is a word. My spellchecker, however, tells me that it's not. >

Change your language to British-English or add it to your Dictionary then.

Re: Off Topic
The 'and' at the end of 'thousand' and the 'and' between 'thousand' and 'ten' will naturally slide into one another.Quickfist wrote:Twentyten or twothousandandten? Isn't twothousandten an option?
Two-thousand-and-ten
becomes
Two-thousand-ten
This isn't American and it isn't Dutch. It's just the way people are going to find themselves speaking. I expect it will start with 'Two-thousand'n'ten' or something similar, then the 'n' in the middle will be dropped.

Re: Off Topic
I know that in America, it has been said that way before we ever entered the new millennium. Have you any examples of British/Irish people saying it like that over the past ten years?
