It was mostly directed at Plum, but you aren't completely free of guilt either, although most of your posts reveal you as a dickwad rather than as an idiot.

What do you mean? Can you please give me some recent examples of my "dickwad" posts?

I'm not sure. After 2000-2009, people are used to say it that way. I don't think it will change until 2100.
It's because it sounds just stupid saying it "20-oh-nine." Though, I did hear it said that way on plenty of car ads. I said it "two-thousand-nine," just because it was easier, and now it's easier just saying "20-10." Plus if you put "and" in on numbers (e.g. "two thousand and nine") you're really denoting a decimal point somewhere.

And this whole time, I thought the whole purpose of creating speech errors in saying numbers was to save yourself from using extra syllables.

That's why someone needs to adjust their language settings.

Change your language to British-English or add it to your Dictionary then. :tssk:

The 'and' at the end of 'thousand' and the 'and' between 'thousand' and 'ten' will naturally slide into one another.

Two-thousand-and-ten

becomes

Two-thousand-ten

This isn't American and it isn't Dutch. It's just the way people are going to find themselves speaking. I expect it will start with 'Two-thousand'n'ten' or something similar, then the 'n' in the middle will be dropped.

I know that in America, it has been said that way before we ever entered the new millennium. Have you any examples of British/Irish people saying it like that over the past ten years?
