World History: What event is your favorite?
What do like in world history? I liked it when France(Hunchman801), Spain, and a bunch of smaller countries help the colonies(the USA) try to win their independence from Britain. My history teacher said that at one point it seemed like that everyone was against Britain. So again, what do you like?

My favourite period is of course the Viking Age.
I'm not quite sure what my favourite historical event is. This one is high up, though:

The different shades of blue indicate the Empire itself, puppet states and allies (Denmark being one of them). If it weren't for the Russian campaign I guess the world would be quite different now (better or worse I don't know, but the consideration of British people eating real food can only be encouraging).Tobbe wrote:We've never been French, have weWeren't Denmark allied with Napoleon?

I live in a state called Texas in the US. If you don't know we've been our own country for nine years after we won our independence from the Mexican dictator Santa Anna, then go back to History class!
Anyway It's true.

Come and take it!
Texas was so in dept that we asked to join with the US. The offer was refused because it would upset the balance of Union and Slave states. Slavery is wrong! Then we told the US that if they weren't interested, we would go to great Britain. They immediately annexed us to the US when another Union state was added. I may be wrong about the Union part. My brain shuts down by the end of the day. We settled off our dept by selling off land. By the way Santa Anna Gained power when the US was fighting him during the Mexican War. He got defeated twice

Re: World History: What event is your favorite?
Err, World War II was pretty awesome. Terrible, but awesome. So I'll say that.

The Viking expansion:

We discovered America first, so fuck off Colombus!

No, it was just awesome. We have so much to thank it for. Without WWII we wouldn't have Nazi villains in works of fiction, of WWII-based games (an overdone premise but at the end of the day it's still a very good one). Also, popular culture wouldn't have any Hitler in it, which would suck indeed.Xenon wrote:Err, World War II was pretty awesome. Terrible, but awesome. So I'll say that.

This is correct. I know this because I live in a city which was founded by them. I think.Rayman4321 wrote:Yeah, they're like pirates but tougher and better.
Was Thor a Viking again? I can't remember. Thor, like World War II, was awesome.
Re: World History: What event is your favorite?
But neither the French or the Spanish people could conquer the portuguese territory.Hunchman801 wrote:The First French Empire
Well, to be honest, I think that the Second World War was a very interesting event, despite of being really sadic.
And there's another type of event, that I think it's also pretty interesting, which were the Portuguese Discoverments, they found the sea path for India.

All that crap at the cost of millions of lives, how fucking awesome indeed.spiraldoor wrote:No, it was just awesome. We have so much to thank it for. That was the worst part, and completly nonsense. That's why I say that it was sadly sadic despite of being an interesting event.Matyuv wrote:All that crap at the cost of millions of lives, how fucking awesome indeed.spiraldoor wrote:No, it was just awesome.
