I got R2:R :3
Yay! Finally found a gamestop that had a copy of it, and it was 5 USD.... I'm excited about how there's a world hub, plus the slowdown's won't happen for me since I'm going to be playing on a ps3 60GB model. the funniest part about the copy I acquired, it's so old the colors are faded on the front of the case, and the disc has a blockbuster label on it XD
I might take some videos of it, seeing that I found my dad's camcorder he lost, and he said I might be able to use it.

Re: I got R2:R :3
Playing on a PS3 won't help with slowdown. You can smooth the video output and upscale it to 1080p if you want, but that's about it.
There's also a game-breaking emulation glitch which makes it almost impossible to enter the Pirate Mines, so I'd advise you to look for a PSV-format gamesave from some time after that.
p.s., the Dreamcast version is better.

Re: I got R2:R :3
Hm.
I never encountered the pirate mines glitch because I wanted to play it bad, and my dad was on the downstairs tv.. I started on my ps2 hooked up to a Dell flatscreen 16:9 with composite cables. it looked really nice, and I only encountered 2 slowdowns when playing, one in the field hub area and one during the space invaders esqe pirate thing. had the settings in the ps2 bios on fast disc load and smoothing..
dreamcast is the best, but revolution is second best. I would have got a dreamcast if gamestop still sold them -.-
they used to for 20$..
and the money I used to buy this game was leftover from a gift card. also considering that you can get rev for 5.00, it's a steal compared to the dreamcast which is around 15$, because they are less common and you have to pay for shipping and wait in the mail for it, plus buy a dreamcast. >.<
I would rather go through the trouble of finding a iso of it online, seeing that I can run the dreamcast emulator perfect on my comp.(win xp ftw XD)
revolution felt short and long at the same time... I breezed through it in 10 hrs, according to the file save.. and I only got 13 "Try again's" (stupid lava sanctuary). maybe it felt long because I originally had the worst of them all, the ps1 version.
it felt short due to the fact I rushed through it in 3 days..
I can't wait for tomorrow, going to go glitch hunting, and if I'm sucessful, I will post some videos..

Re: I got R2:R :3
The fast disc loading and smoothing won't help with the slowdown either. You're basically still playing the game on a PS2, since the 60 GB PS3 is running the games on the emotion chip. The later models with software emulation probably run Revolution even worse.
Spiraldoor's right, you can't alleviate any lag. But I will say I wasn't too bothered by it. Revolution did add a lot of stuff to the environments, but I get the feeling the team that upgraded the game maybe didn't realize the PS2 wasn't that powerful over the Dreamcast in comparison.

Re: I got R2:R :3
What's the difference n the Dreamcast version?
Also I find it strange that no matter what you play it on, the lag won't go away. I have a GTX295 which can 60 FPS Crysis, yet lags at points in Rev such as the bridge in the Minisaurus Plains. Why doth thith beith...?

Re: I got R2:R :3
perfect framerate and graphics are the same as ps2 (60fps + absolutley no slowdowns)
globox village
identical to n64 version ( except for the chair monorail level, that's removed. but ps2 has it :3)
dreamcast vs. ps2
graphics:
tie
framerate:
dreamcast
playability:
ps2, 8 minigames to unlock, plus another 3 acessable by a code through the main menu, or bought from the store ( code is: go to main menu, go to options, then language, then voices. higlight raymanian, hold l1 +r1, and press l2 r2 l2 r2 l2 r2)
there is also a code for a cheat menu in game you can bring up, pause in game, then go to audio options, highlight mute and hold l1+ r1 and press l2 r2 l2 r2 l2 r2. a cheat menu should come up, and you can toggle cheats for full health, golden fist (known as megashoot), all the upgrades avaliable to toggle on and off.
ps2 wins playability wise, dreamcast wins graphics wise
I hope you guys liked the cheat codes.

Re: I got R2:R :3
it lags because of 2 reasons.RayFan9876 wrote:What's the difference n the Dreamcast version?

1. your running a emulator, they can still lag even if you have the best comp in the world.
2. too many objects loaded on the screen at one time for the actual ps2 hardware to handle, so the ps2 decreases the framerate so the game doesn't lag.
if your version is actually LAGGING, and not a slowdown, then it's because your using a emulator.
that's the reason why you should actually go get a ps2, and then begin the elusive hunt for a copy of this game. these. days, they are hard to find, but a scored one at gamestop a few days ago for 5$, ending my.3 month hunt for a copy of rev.
it's not the best copy in the world, seeing it has a blockbuster sticker on the disc and sone scratches

Re: I got R2:R :3
Huh? Both games have the chair level, it's just in a different order on Revolution.Raymale wrote:perfect framerate and graphics are the same as ps2 (60fps + absolutley no slowdowns)

The graphics aren't exactly the same and both each have a different Globox village. The PS2 has revised graphics on many levels, with changes by smoothing out polygons, different textures, and sometimes newly modeled environments altogether. The characters look the same for the most part (I would guess since I have no way of getting a polygon count), but many of the levels in Revolution are definitely improved in my opinion just by tweaking things and adding detail. I'm not so sure I like the way they changed the order of the levels though.
The Dreamcast and PS2 should both in theory both be running at 60 fps. Revolution's problem, like you said, is probably because of higher res textures and improved models of the environments all running at once. The game wasn't properly optimized it seems, as the PS2 is a more powerful machine and really shouldn't have these problems with a game that ran smoothly on the Dreamcast. Probably Ubisoft rushing things again. But the worst lag I noticed in Revolution was during the hub world, which isn't even in the Dreamcast version. The regular levels seemed to run fine for the most part.
The Dreamcast version can output through a VGA box, though, so it will look much nicer on an HDTV and run without interlacing. The Dreamcast was a pioneer in higher resolution display long before the the three consoles following it started having newer games released normally with progressive scan modes.

Then you said the Dreamcast had better graphics.

sorry acarr, didn't see the edit button >.<
when I said graphics wise, I meant to say framerate and graphics wise at the end..
and I watched a full playthrough of rayman 2: tge for the dreamcast, and didn't see the chair level anywhere..
when I said chair level, I meant the minigame that was on r2:r..
n64 has it too, but it's a actual LEVEL named top of the world.

Re: I got R2:R :3
Yes, the chair level is placed the same in the Dreamcast version as Nintendo 64. You must have skipped part of the playthrough or the person making it didn't record it. There's nothing missing from The Dreamcast version that both the PC version and 64 version have.Raymale wrote:sorry acarr, didn't see the edit button >.<
