Old Consoles

Post by IllarKallas »

This thread its about Old Gaming Consoles, what consoles did you have in your childhood,or when you was a little child.
What old consoles you would like to get now?
What feeled good about playing them?

Tell us if you want!

Well i tell first,When i was like 6,i used to like a LOT my PS1,That was the way i knew Rayman,it feeled like having a futuristic console! (That startup did sound very futuristic!),i did have 3 of that same consoles (for some reason, the first one broke up,the other had a problem in the lens, and the third was not calibrated (Disk Speed),I did have much games (Pirate :boon:),they all got scratched (I was not very caring with them.),And some time later without any console (like 3 years dammit.) In Christmas,my dad bought me a PS2,but it dindt feel like playing a PS1.

I would like getting a PS1,or a N64,Or a Super Nintendo (Really,i love classics) Because they bring back memories,That PS1 Startup was great! (For some reason,i like more the PS1 Startup than the Ps2 one.)

I grew up with the Sega Mega drive mothafucka.

Eh, tbh I don't really like the N64 much. I picked one up the other year with a copy of Tonic Trouble hoping I'd be entertained but I got quite disappointed. The only other games I liked on that were Paper Mario [which I have on my Wii via the virtual console] and Dr Mario 64 which was not released in Europe so that means I gotta mod the console. Not to mention that most attempts at finding N64 and Super Nintendo games in their boxes will certainly rape your bank account because they're so damn expensive, I was lucky with Tonic Trouble.

As for the PS1 I prefer playing all those games on the PS2 for convenience reasons.

I grew up with the Gameboy colour, Pokemon Pinball ftw!

If I wanted to play an old game I would just download it or hunt it down if I knew I still own it.

The Ps1 was my very frist console and still my favourite. I thought the startup was the best thing ever along with Rayman, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. I never could not playing it till i became better than my much older brothers and beat them at any game they tested my skills at, but i found it really werid when i beat a game or got to a level like i did when i was smaller :( i don't feel the same as i did back then.

When a few friends asked me if i would choose retro over new gaming consoles i chose retro i thought they had much better story lines and adventure than new games but everyone tought i was crazy i just replied 10 years and it still never had a faulty error :proud: .

I never really was a console person. I always mooched off friends.

...

My first computer was a Commodore 64 (though it was more-so, my dad's). :proud:

I plan on getting a Sega Saturn and Atari Jaguar both for R1. I got a Gameboy color, then upgraded to a GBASP, then to a NDSL all in the same year. To get Rayman DSiWare, I'm going to get me the DSi XL. I got a Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo 64 both for R2. Doen't it bring back memories when I play R2 for the GBC and my GBASP.

I can't say I agree on that. But that's not to say I will get me a Wii and Xbox 360.

Haha, can't we have a little enjoyment on our much older Rayman games? Random: I mean no one has even ripped out all the music of R1 for the Atari Jaguar.

The first console I ever owned was a GBA SP, but I used to play Crash Bandicoot all the time at friends' houses, so I got it on PSN and it brings back memories.

Is there any other console I'm forgetting that has a port of Rayman?

Because it's just the old consoles again mashed together with something "game changing and innovative."

SNES looks runk. There's not really any noticable difference between current gen. and previous gen. consoles except graphics (excl. the Wii). While I like to play new games quite a lot, it's sometimes... refreshing to play some retro, the simplicity is a break from, for example, modern warfare 2...

Horray for retro gaming! :mryellow:

I actually lived my infance with Personal Computers, since a Windows 3.1 laptop, to a shared and grey-coloured Pentium III computer with Windows 95, after Windows 98 and finally Windows ME. And yeah, those grey computers with CRT displays and Internet that was slow and with phone connection (Waiting to log in with that crazy music with "bippings"). XD

But I also played game consoles in houses of friends like Sega Saturn, Sega Mega Drive, Playstation 1, Game Boy Color and Dreamcast (I also catched up the original Game Boy Advance and the very fatty PS2). So much good memories. :)

The SNES was bad-ass, and pwns the GBA in every shape and form. Especially since you really can't escape that on the GBA, there are two buttons missing! Metroid Zero Mission & Metroid Fusion were fun, but could never be on the level of awesome as Super Metroid, just because... well, the controls are ass because the GBA has two WHOLE BUTTONS MISSING.
