That's exactly what I was thinking.El Dango wrote:Well, I personally like the whole cartoonish/realistic mix. It was the style Rayman 4 was meant to have.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
THis'll probably like a 50/50 cartoonish/realistc environment.
Also, Rayman 2 had very few cartoonish themes yet it was thought to be the best.

You're right, a giant green eyeball, a short, stubby robot with a peg leg and a fat blue frog are serious business.RayFan9876 wrote:Also, Rayman 2 had very few cartoonish themes yet it was thought to be the best.

EDIT:
Recent news, when Crysis 2 comes out (Sept. 2-3) which uses CryEngine3, I'll be shifting over to that. But I have even better news, it has been officially announced that CryEngine3 has better graphics and lower system requirements than CryEngine2! And of course, console support.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
One song takes a couple hours, so doing it slowly it took a week.
I also did three remixes of real songs that aren't related, so I usually do about groups of one or two songs at a time.

No worries, take your time
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Rayman 2 was far from realistic by design.
It just didn't have the variety of Rayman 1.
I have to agree with alfman, Dream forest looks weird, it's not like Dream Forest it's a forest from Crysis with bright colored trees.
Dream Forest was cartoony, that's why it had colored bushes, with huge leafs, the trees were green. What gave the cartoony style was the shapes of the environment, bright colors doesn't work with realistic style.
That's why Band Land looks so good in this interpretation.
I have to note few things sorry if it's annoying, take as constructive criticism.
I think you don't need that 1.5 in the title, it's sounds weird. Like a boring patch for a boring office program.
Get rid of it.
Also the story have to be more organised, Dark Rayman didn't die is not well tought out, all the Ramyan games had very creative storyline, what catched the audience.
Keep The Rayman 3 modell, it fits perfectly.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
The Rayman 3 model doesn't fit the storyline, because this happened before Rayman 2
Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
I don't think it really matters which model do the designer use since the game is not official.
By the way there's no connection between R1 and R2, or R1 and R3.
The design doesn't really mean a thing since it's drastically changing with each game.
And I don't think it has to do anythin with the plot, more with the evolving graphics.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
I will be using the Rayman 2 style model btw.
And I'm not getting rid of the 1.5, it doesn't sound weird. Didn't "Wii" sound weird at first? I'm used to my title, so it sounds pretty normal.
And like I've stated at least 25.6 times before, I can't just create on-the-spot creative vegetation. It's a lot harder than the Band Land stuff, that's for sure. I need to get into ZBrush and practice a lot, but until then, you're probably not getting anything better.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
'Wii' still sounds weird -_-
Anyway, great music and band land looks fantastic especially. I've gotta agree with Bloodgrey about the dream forest and the Rayman model though, but your game, so it's your choice I guess.
BTW if you need any help with the music, I've got loads of free time on my hands and I could use a project, so just ask and I can adapt a piece of music from any of the Rayman games if you want to fit your preference.
Edit> Pour Example I just threw together this rendition of one of my favourite tracks from R1, featuring audio (guitar) and midi (the rest)

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Oh jeez, I did NOT say it was my choice to have the Dream Forest like that! I said that I can't make it better right now but I will!
And very nice music!

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
I say keep the R1-R2 model, it makes more canonical sense. And the Dream Forest looks fine to me, although you may want to add some giant mushrooms and plum trees.
