The same goes for me...Serious.

I don't see how things like love and friendship can be considered 'a lot better' than Rayman.
They are better. You just need to find the right persons and the right places, the ones where you feel comfortable.

I know how deep fandom can go, but we just need to learn to let things go. Face it, except for the highly marketed Nintendo franchises, the platformer is a dead genre, and has been one for years. And I don't particularly enjoy saying that, because I've always loved platformers.

What do you mean? I have plenty of good friends but if it was a choice between hanging out with them and spending the day playing an excellent new game like God of War III or Portal 2 I'd definitely choose the game. What makes you feel that you know so much about this?

No, that's absolute bullshit. Platformers are not dead.

Oh, really ? Look at how many platformers are released each year versus shooters, party, and puzzle games. The consumer doesn't want platformers anymore, listen about which games the people in your area talk and go figure.

Yes, there still are platformers around, but they don't even sell well and are forgotten very quickly. And that's why the amount is shrinking.

I don't get why consumers want different kinds of games anyway.

I'm sorry to say to you guys but I agree in everything that Spiral said aswell I share the same opinions as him.
I'm not saying that love and friendship are bad but it happens that it depends of the people around you. :? And years ago I did get out often to go to parks to play with other people, to talk, to make new friends so I wasn't particularly "always closed up inside a room". And I honestly say that I prefer to stay at home to play games, working on my art (or everything else among my interests) instead of going out with friends.

I don't know if they're completely dead, but Ancel himself stated in an interview that the platformer genre seems "a little out of breath".

But that's a shame! Since 3D evolved even more with more better graphics people started to care more about FPSs, and other type of game genres that are compactible with super-realistic graphics.

Well the Wii is the most popular console, and that certainly doesn't have spectacular realistic graphics

No, you're wrong. The genre is not dead. Examples of recent good platformers include the Ratchet & Clank PS3 trilogy, Braid, Trine, the LittleBigPlanet games, Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros Wii, Metroid: Other M, Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10. Good-looking upcoming platformers include Earthworm Jim HD, the Toki remake, The Last Guardian, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. You will most likely be able to find more with a little research.

Now, why did you ask me to compare the numbers of platformers released nowadays with the 'shooters, party, and puzzle games'? What's wrong with shooters and puzzle games? The numbers don't have any releationship at all. I don't see the logic behind your comparison. Portal is a shooter, and a puzzle game, and a platformer, and it's one of the best games ever made.

And to say they 'don't even sell well and are forgotten quickly' is just incorrect. LittleBigPlanet for example sold 3,140,000 copies (which is great for a new IP) and Media Molecule have consistently released updates and downloadable content packages since then. And how many copies did NSMBW sell again? Something ridiculously high, no doubt.

I don't understand what he was actually trying to say there... was 'out of breath' meant to signify that the genre was dying out, or that the market was saturated or something? I'm not sure if he was right. That interview took place years ago.

Mario is Missing, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario & Luigi 2, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2, Gradius V, Turtles in Time, Vandal Hearts...

This is a minigame collection, no doubt.

Sonic CD sorta had time travel in it as well...I think.

Anyway we've yet to see what's actually going on with this game and if so then they'd post about it on either their Twitter or on Facebook.

The series seems to be very inconsistent. First a 2D platformer, then a 3D platformer with minor 3rd person shooter elements, then it was a 3D platformer with even more 3rd person shooter elements in it, then it was a collection of minigames, and I don't think I truly understand what Rabbids Go Home is.

I think I enjoyed platforming. (I also liked the combat in R3 a lot).
