Other limbless characters
Rayman is probably one of the first characters to be limbless, but he surely is known for that. But I have discovered some other characters, that have some look-a-likes without arms and legs, with only the hand and foot floating. We already know about Tonic Trouble. If you know some, please share them.

Re: Other limbless characters
I created a small series of animations in PowerPoint in which the characters were limbless but only because it was easier to animate that way.

Yes, because it's only small objects that needs to be moved around. In 2D, it's really easy to animate some limbs in multimedia platforms (Flash) and raster graphic editors (Gimp, Photoshop, etc). As a starting point in 3D, with modelling, it is harder though.

In b4 the whole "baaaaaw Raymang has maor gaems :'(". I really tried to like Plok but I just prefer Rayman 1 over it.
Also Team 17's Worms are known to have floaty hands and have done since Worms 2 believe it or not.

Re: Other limbless characters
I tried out Plok myself. It feels incredibly platforming standard fare. I actually kind of prefer a game like Zool (and I also consider Zool to be fairly average).

Re: Other limbless characters
Well, Mii's (the Wii avatars) in Wii Sports are noted having limbless hands. But the unplayable characters on the side, do not have and legs and feets, which makes them float in mid-air, as you can see on the picture.StaceyW wrote:Also Team 17's Worms are known to have floaty hands and have done since Worms 2 believe it or not.
But I'm mostly talking about characters that don't have both of the arms and legs, with only the hands and feets unattached, which are intentional constructions. We know that Rayman for example was going to have limbs, but they later scrapped that idea after their graphical processing, which eventually made him intentionally limbless in the end.

Re: Other limbless characters
I like Plok. It's kind of boring and repetitive, but the art and music are fairly good and the gameplay is sort of original. I just wish it was more varied and the field of view was wider, and I wish he had one good jump, rather than one tiny one and one weidly-high-but-useless-at-crossing-large-distances one.
I didn't like Zool though. It just didn't have any redeeming features, at least for me. Chupa Chups...
Only reason I played either of those games was because I thought that Rayman 1 may have been partially inspired by them...

Plok also has a personality. And the game has a story of sorts. Zool fails in both these regards.
