Sadly, I will probably have to drop that landscape, because only awesome computers like mine can actually run it.

I don't think you should cut anything out of the game just so that people with inferior machines can play it – I'd rather wait a few years until I get a good computer and play the full version than play a stripped-down version now. Or perhaps you could give the player different graphics settings (the player who selects 'High' will get to see the landscape in question, but the player who selects 'Low' will see a more crappy-comuter-friendly version of it).

What type of specs does your computer have?

Well I didn't mean it that literally - my computer's not awesome, it's just that old computers can't run it.
I have an Intel Quad Core Q9300 @ 2.50GHz, with 4GB of memory. My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce 9600GS.
Even that can't run that area at full speed though. Only 55FPS of 60FPS. Same with areas that have too much of that electricity effect in them.
Also, the new video is coming tomorrow!

Here's the video of Electrix playing a little song.
That song is made by me, myself and I. Same for the singing ( which might or might not be horrible ).
It's about my own life. Ryan ( Phoenixan ) will probably know what it's really about.



I just used Eclipse as the video part of this video because that landscape is simply beautiful.
And it demonstrates the waving hair, grass, etc.
Though it is horribly slowed down, because:
1. I used FRAPS to record it, which slowed the game down to 25 FPS because it recognized the normal speed of 60FPS as 120FPS ( due to the screen_redraw() function being used every step for the water ). I had FRAPS record it at 50FPS, thus slowing the actual game down back to 25FPS.
2. I didn't have enough video at the end to fill up the whole song, so I had to stretch it.

Oh, and I know the butterflies can dive in the water. They normally can't, but that water object wasn't the actual water object ( just scenery ) so the butterfly objects ignored it and went for a swim anyway.

I only have a suggestion about Electrix: when he's playing guitar the part where his body and his head meet looks too squary, i think. It could only be me though.

Well, it's now one month ago that I put that video online.
So here's another! This one shows the progress I made this month: I drew 4 characters ( Lily, the magician, PROFESSOR-114 and Mr Dark ).
There are also some small in-game videos at the end that demonstrate the eyecandy.
And I made the music myself too. For Eclipse. It'll play in the ice world, when you fall into a huge ice fissure.



The fact that I have Mr Dark now means that I can start working on the first boss! About time.
That'll be cool. And his cloak will constantlly wave during the battle, because I made it so every tiny part of his cloak can move. How awesome is that?
So who knows, maybe I'll post a video in a month or two about that.

Oh, and did you notice how PROFESSOR-114 is actually from the never released 2D Rayman 2?

Maybe I'll improve that. I don't know though, it looks okay to me. But I have to change the guitar sprite anyway, so yeah.

The first thing that still bother me, is the color of the electoons. Aren't they supposed to be pink? And another thing is the helicoptor hair, which looks oblique, like we are facing it. And yet another thing is the apperance of Mr. Darks face, which looks like he only has one big eye. And I also instantly did think of Rayman 2 Prototype, when I saw PROFESSOR-114.
