Anyways let's do the jam guys, first we need to choose a backing track; how's this?

I have many others; if there's a particular style you'd prefer to jam in please say so.

It would be nice if we also have a more jazzy backing track (rock is a very boring genre bass-wise :P ).

You can definitely make it interesting, but it's much more fun to play a more jazzy jam because it gives you much more freedom to implement things like walking bass lines and solos into your music, which most of the time doesn't go very well with rock.

Alright I'll look for a more jazzy or funky track that has some verses without the bassline... so far I've found this one here

http://rghost.ru/1470759

It's not too interesting harmony-wise though.

Edit: found a bossa track, the part without bass isn't too long though, from about 1:50 to 2:16 but perhaps we could clone that if needed.

Lol, I saw this topic but forgot to sign up. :P
So yeah, I'm a pianist ( Tetris theme for example )- not that it'd fit with the style we're aiming for though.
But I also compose music. Mainly for my game ( here's a page with some of the music I have so far ). I make music for other things too but all of it is kinda game-y.
So yeah, I also got pretty good at working with FL Studio, so I can do all kinds of "instruments", not only piano.

I'm currently working a recording of Rollo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68rPcKU0JII) which will mainly be based on saxophones and synthesizers. I do however, lack any sort of percussion, and so would appreciate it if when it is complete (I shall post it up on here) if somebody here who plays the drums would be able to reproduce the drum work on the video in the above link (I don't play drums myself, so I have no idea how difficult or easy it is). It should sound alright even without percussion, but it would be nice if somebody would be able to help me here.

Well, for those who wants to upload their music tracks, you can use Dropbox, which is simply the best file synchronization and file hosting service.

You can register an account here: https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTMzODM0MjY5
And when you have to place your files in the "Public" folder, and copy the public link.
It's recommended to use their desktop application, as it makes the whole things easier.

It allows hotlinking and gives up to 2 GB free space, which you can extend to 8 GB by sending many invitations.

Ontopic: I've also made a very simple trance track in 15 minutes, the first time I actually used FL Studio:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3383426/Music/P ... Trance.mp3

I know that I am able to to much better than this. But I just need a better workplace and more time.
It was done for a school project, where my subject was about electronic music.

Hell yeah! I would love to participate!

I, like many others here, play guitar too. I mostly play acoustic guitar (a harley benton model) and my playing style is very bluesy - simply because I love blues and my biggest musical inspirations are the musicians Zakk Wylde and Warren Haynes. I also like to play with a bottle neck, but mostly only in the rhytmic parts. But if needed, I would also play electric guitar (an explorer model) with EMG pick-ups,using Line 6 and the different distortions I "mixed" together. My electric riffs mainly consist of two guitars which play in a lower and a higher octave, which gives everything a nice, Rammstein-like sound (even if I don`t like that band, their sound is pretty good.) My metal riffs are also more grindcore-ish and thrashy.

My solos are not ultra fast (but not too slow either), because I am not that skilled yet and I mostly focus on how much feeling is put in the solos and not how fast someone can play.

I have been writing songs since I started playing guitar and have made quite a progress since then. :D
But the problem is - none of my songs are really finished and I am very careful when it comes to sharing them. Sadly there are too many people out there who have no problem with stealing my ideas. :(
But I could, however, upload some videogame midi songs I have composed or an audio file of me playing. But I am not on my own computer right now, so this has to wait. Maybe I can manage to record and upload something this evening.

I can`t not listen to your backing track right now, but I will as soon as I can sit in front of my own computer this evening. :D
