Re: Bye Ancel
Why not? It would probably be something akin to Rayman 1 or the 2D prototype of Rayman 2. I certainly want more games in that style. Not as much as I want a 3D Rayman platformer but I'd take pretty much anything at this stage.
Re: Bye Ancel
It would be nice to see Rayman game made in the similar way like Trine, Littlebigplanet, Feist... 2,5D games are kewl.
Re: Bye Ancel
I prefer 3D over 2D too, actually.
If I wanna play 2d, I'll go play Mario Land or something.

Re: Bye Ancel
Some more thoughts: A couple of months ago, it was revealed that Frédéric Raynal – the French developer with whom I conflated Nicolas Choukroun for a moment – is working on a new secret game (more info). It was announced that he was working on a new game with Ancel and the Montpellier team a couple of years ago, too, but nothing more was said of it.
What if Ancel and Raynal's game from a couple of years ago, Raynal's secret project that was announced a couple of months ago, and Ancel's current project at his new smaller studio are all the same game? The Rayman sequel that Choukroun alluded to? And Raynal is the 'star developer' who's joining Ancel's studio?
I definitely don't believe that though, it's way too good to be true.
Edit 1: Damn, I got my hyphens confused with my en-dashes for a moment there. What's happening to me?!
Edit 2: I forgot to mention that Raynal is the other guy that was knighted alongside Ancel and Miyamoto. So that's how good he is, anyway.

Re: Bye Ancel
My sediments on this whole thing. We've gone seven years with no 3D Rayman platformer, endured a mediocre party game and two awful ones, been teased by bad ports to handheld systems, and now this guy expects us to believe that a new Rayman sequel is been developed right out of the blue? I don't trust him for a second. I'm not getting my hopes up in the same way I did when that Jacques guy said that "He'll be back for more imaginative and fantastic adventures of his own before you know it".spiraldoor wrote:I definitely don't believe that though, it's way too good to be true.
However, if Rayman 4 is released, I'd want it to be 3D and have a massive storyline. Rayman games need more story. Rayman 2 provided some good exposition for his world, so why can't they use it more? And I'd like more references to previous games, like maybe if Rayman found himself in a land of instruments, he'd say "Déjà vu". That would rule.

Well look what we have here! It seems that the games media have begun to pick up on our little rumour!

Edit: Yes, they really have. Did you tip them off, Drolpiraat?

Re: Bye Ancel
I always wanted to see Rayman in more serious way, revealing origins of world, characters and so. R2 created interesting universe, R3 expanded histories of races and creatures living there. RRR... D'oh, I won't comment this peace of...
Rayman 4 with, deep storyline, role-playing elements, choices and consequences, espressive characters would be great. Seriously.

@spiraldoor: Nope, I didn't tip them off at all, it's probably someone who looked at my post... or your comment on Destructoid.
Re: Bye Ancel
@ the google link: Woooooooow....
That went really fast.

Re: Bye Ancel
They'd have to, because there is no information about it on Raymanzone... and i just realised that the ''Latest Screenshot'' is about 2-3 years old now.

Wow, this rumor is spreading fast. Screwattack even did a Hard News on it. And I'm beginning to think that the rumor of a new Rayman game could actually be true.

Re: Bye Ancel
If MA it's really making a new Rayman game...PLEASE NO MORE RABBIDS FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!
Who knows, maybe if they make a new game,it should be like the original Rabbids idea (Ugly zombie rabbits),but with a new camera (Or at least different camera modes).
But i won't get my hopes up,Ubisoft has ignored us for 7 years.Hmmm...I remember that ubisoft did say something about a Rayman Raving Rabbids 4 or something like that...Maybe the ''Rayman 4'' He's talking about it's the RRR4 poop or something like that?...

If it has the rabbids, I won't buy another minigame collection. The Wii has way too many of those. Using the original rabbids would be fine, but I would prefer a new enemy or the return of Razorbeard.

Come to think of it, it would be nicer to see any villain return than face a whole new one.

Re: Bye Ancel
I would like to see the return of Mr. Dark. Think of what he would look like in 3D. I wouldn't mind if all Rayman's enemies teamed up to try to get rid of Rayman.
Re: Bye Ancel
It's been a while ago since the Rayman and Rabbids franchises got separated, so when Nic said Rayman sequel, he was obviously talking about a Rayman game. Not rabbids.Superlol wrote:Maybe the ''Rayman 4'' He's talking about it's the RRR4 poop or something like that?...

Re: Bye Ancel
So this news seems more official. I get the feeling the news posted earlier with Ubisoft denying the rumor and saying Ancel is still here and BG&E2 is more on track than ever and will have a showing at E3 might have been fake news. The N4G article sounds more in line with typical Ubisoft: "We don't comment on rumors." Why would they give conflicting comments? It really concerns me that Ubisoft can't even confirm their first top designer still being employed under them.spiraldoor wrote:Well look what we have here! So now I have no idea what to think. Nicolas Choukroun should definitely be trusted for sure, you guys. Him and Ancel go way back. You only need to check out the guys wiki and Mobygames credits.
I think Spiraldoor is right that Nicolas could be mistaken, but he would not be intentionally lying I think. Basically it doesn't matter. he can't say any more than what he has already said.
Also my own personal bit of information to add to this: I post at the Idlethumbs forums for years, and someone there working for Ubisoft who has Ancel on his IM said this: "If this means anything to anyone, it's 9:30 pm in Montpellier and Ancel's computer is still on and logged in though he is away.
Meaning if he quit, he isn't gone yet as most people would turn off their computer, i'd reckon."
That was on the 28th. He reposted later to say he couldn't really talk about this stuff, but did say this the next message: "Really, if I were to break any kind of contract I'd go all out and talk about this interesting shit like, yeah, I'm not going to, but you'll get an ear full when stuff gets officially announced. I don't consider my opinions on what I've seen on the internet and previous iterations on those things any contractual obligation."
So at this point, all these push and pull comments are really spinning my head. I'm guessing only E3 may tell what's really going on here.

Re: Bye Ancel
At least there's a little bit of news of R4, we just need more proof. And after 7 long years, a lot of proof is needed to unsolidify our intentions that there wasn't going to be a R4. Whenever there is a little news, we need to look at it and decide. It's like saying R5 is already in development.
Anyway with the two franchises split, there is a conflict. RRR1(GBA and DS) focuses more on Rayman than the Rabbids. Don't you find that a little ironic?
