Can someone explain why there are so many antiviruses, and how/why some of them are better than others?
I mean the virus database is the same everywhere isn't it? And the ways to block common viruses shouldn't differ too much either

Before I used Panda Antivirus, but I dropped it completly since a couple of months ago because I was annoyied with it, stealing 120 MBs on my RAM and to oddly block the Printers Wi-Fi connection to my computer, even when autorizing on the antivirus the adresses of them.

I use Kaspersky now, and I'm very satisfied with it. Much less heavy and it updates the virus database everyday.

Mostly it just depends upon how lightweight and efficient it is. My work runs McAffe, and personally, I think it's a total piece of shit, because it takes forever to scan anything, and then delivers so many false-positives.

In that case Nod32 has to be the best AV I've ever used then... Kaspersky would just block everything and pop up all the time when I opened harmless apps

That doesn't happen to me, because I put the harmless stuff into the Trusted Zone.

I never used it myself, but one of my friends' work places did. I heard it was okay.

I still use AVG myself, however. It used to pop up with useless crap (tracking cookie detected! Thanks, Ubi forums), but I set it to just not tell me and remove them later.

Maybe the free stuff just wants you to believe that.. Maybe the free stuff itself is actually a trojan horse.

Mods can't ban. We have to wait for an admin or a global mod to do so.

Superlol wrote:OH my gawd,my laptop and my pc almost got infected by a worm named ''New Folder''.
The virus was in a old MP3,i thinked it was a new folder because it had that icon, but on my laptop VirusScan detected it and it said it was some Worm called ''Ya Lover'' ,i inmediately removed the MP3 from the laptop, and now im scanning my laptop,i hope that nothing bad happened to it...
But my PC...Doesn't have a anti-virus,so,i think it's infected,i will research more of this worm.

I wonder what i will do with the MP3,or break it with a hammer,or hide it in some place...
Scanning my computer now. I bet all it does is play 'YOU ARE A PIRATE' at random times, but you never know.
