Re: Rayman Origins
That's right. 'Blood brothers' means 'males who have sworn loyalty to each other' or something like that according to Wikipedia. It's just a figure of speech.Newray wrote:I don't think it goes as far as that.. In Rayman 2, Rayman was a mysterious hero while Globox was a being dreamed by the god Polokus. Perhaps 'blood brother' is more like 'friends for life' in this case.
I was always slightly bothered by Rayman's line at the start of Rayman 2 ('Globox...? My friend?'). Players of Rayman 1 had no idea who this Globox fellow was. Rayman Origins seems to rectify this, placing Globox in Rayman's pre-R1 backstory, which will make the story of the series as a whole flow a bit better. I would imagine that playing Origins, then R1, then R2, then R3 will feel somewhat more natural than it did without the prequel.
It's rather ironic that the most important Rayman website that exists still hasn't reported the announcement of the first new Rayman game in seven years on its front page while all non-Rayman-dedicated games news outlets have. Maybe it's time to think about scrapping the whole 'news' business altogether and create a new portal, considering how much use it's been lately.

I tried typing in Raymanzone.com and now it redirects to the RO blog it seems. Whoever coded the old site was a lazy git anyway.

so...RZ is dead? even the forums?

Re: Rayman Origins
I am happy beyond anything to see a new rayman platformer, even though i did picture it a little different then this Throughout ubisofts part of E3 i was hoping to see a new rayman, even after the rabbids trailer i still believed, then they said that 3 other games were also going to be out and i saw rayman, i yelled YES, though im a bit upset about it being only on X-box live, but im sure i can affored it, and if not theres always youtube.

A team of five including Ancel. This is very important. He decided the game and the world originally, so why should we question him so much if he's back?AJack wrote:Albertosaurus Rex wrote:Chill. While I don't agree with you that 2D is somehow a regression from a 3D game, I do agree with this.spiraldoor wrote:I was always slightly bothered by Rayman's line at the start of Rayman 2 ('Globox...? Rayman Origins should fit in much better with what was going on in Rayman 2 than any other game. The original Rayman is strange as none of the characters reoccur much if at all in subsequent games. I've always hated how Rayman 2 came off as a reboot to the original Rayman with many characters we've never seen before that Rayman is very familiar with. While I do like all of the cast of Rayman 2 better than Rayman 1, I would have thought at least someone besides Moskito would have reappeared in a revamped look or something.
I also hope Ly makes an appearance in Rayman Origins.

Yes, another appearence of Ly would be good, since most of them are for handheld remakes of the orignal game.
It stinks about the whole episodes thing, though.
The game would be much better to just buy it in a full version.
But, they have a good reason for it being in episodes. Five people would take forever to make a good full game

Re: Rayman Origins
I'm here guys, sorry for the delay! I had no internet access on the 15th and I almost slept all day yesterday!
So, this is great news to start with. Of course, it's only an episode-based 2D prequel, but you guys shouldn't have the same expectations as if it was Rayman 4.
Moreover, I find the idea of an enlightenment about the origins of Rayman to be really interesting, despite the inevitable continuity errors (such as the helicopter, which I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed — and which could, by the way, be explained by a situation similar to that of the beginning of Rayman 2).
As concerns the Wii, I would like to highlight the fact that the game aims to be in full HD, which is far beyond the capacities of the aforementioned console and should therefore settle any argument on the subject.
When it comes to the visuals, I can only admire the magnificent sceneries, but I do actually also appreciate the characters whose style kinda suits that of the game itself and its story, which is, as far as I know, how Rayman and Globox evolved from annoying brats to heroes.
The only reservation I would like to express concerns the gameplay, which appears to be very simple (yet interestingly dynamic), but I would also like to remind you all that it's more than hazardous to judge of it from a two minute long early video.
So, of course it's nowhere as good as Rayman 4 should be, but I am definitely looking forward to this very promising game.
All suggestions are welcome.

You are entirely right about that. I'm going to post an announcement now I know about it, but I would like to develop in future an advanced news system which would allow trusted members to publish content on their own, without having to wait for an admin to do so.spiraldoor wrote:It's rather ironic that the most important Rayman website that exists still hasn't reported the announcement of the first new Rayman game in seven years on its front page while all non-Rayman-dedicated games news outlets have. Re: Rayman Origins
'Regression' was probably a harsh way of phrasing it, but I'm just not sure that a 2D game can blow my mind any more after seeing the scale and scope of some of this generation's games. I was really looking forward to exploring and traversing huge 3D environments in a Rayman game again, maybe even 3D renditions of old locations like Band Land and Picture City (which the Bonamy concept art indicated was a possibility).syntheticgerbil wrote:While I don't agree with you that 2D is somehow a regression from a 3D game, I do agree with this.
Does anyone think that those fly-type things in the RO trailer might be the Uglies that were chained up in Razoff's mansion? They look a bit like them.

Re: Rayman Origins
Okay, so I'm new here (Hello!) but here's my opinions.
I only just found out about this new game yesterday, I missed E3 and was checking online to see if there was any mention of Rayman 4 and nothing, then by accident I found the Wikipedia page for "Rayman Origins" and was like...
wow.
To the people who are saying it's "Like Legend of Spyro"...No it's not. Legend of Spyro was cheesy and fantasy like, they tried to turn it into a movie. Sure the trailer starts out looking all fantasy-movie like but, hello? It's a joke, it's meant to be clichéd until he starts blowing up the fairy's (betilla's??) skirt. xD
This game looks BRILLIANT to me. I've been waiting for this sort of game ever since Rayman 1. I LOVED 2 and 3 but, cmon, this is in 2D. it looks like a return to the original sort-of Rayman universe, I think if anything Rayman 2 was like Legend of Spyro in that it turned a ridiculous and colorful game into a (semi)-serious fantasy epic (albeit much more successfully).
I saw someone here complaining about the music being unoriginal...but if you think about it, it's the trailer. Often the music in videogame trailers isn't representitive of the final product, and also, i rather liked it- especially the ending with the violin melody AND THE GIANT PINK MONSTER XD
I mean I was a bit weirded out by how mentally ill Rayman and Globox seem to be but if you think about it, Rayman has LITERALLY just been born, and Globox was never that bright to begin with. The website clearly states something about it revealing how they became the heroes they are today - so theyre clearly not re-vamping the series by making Rayman retarded, it's just explaining how they became...not retarded. And tbh it looks fun anyway.
People are all worried about it not being on PC or Wii or whatever but if you read the website carefully they've actually said they will consider putting it on other platforms but theyre just prioritising. I mean obviously with such a small team you cant afford to get it on all platforms immediately, i assume theyre trying to get the game as fantastic and beautiful as it deserves to be on HD consoles and THEN think about putting it on other things in perhaps lower quality or something. I'm not sure how these things work. I will personally buy it on PS3 and just go to my friends house if i want to play it. i've waited 15 years for this, i'll do anything
the only thing im really not THAT happy about but i'll live with is the episodic format that it's going to be in. but i completely understand their reasons for doing it, and hopefully its gonna give the project the money it needs to do what we all want it to do, which is release one massive game AND be available on other platforms.
the game looks stunning, like really really beautiful. the handdrawn style is just beautiful, the backgrounds look AMAZING especially the weird building behind Rayman and Globox when theyre getting their picture taken, and the giant stone statues behind then when they are running down the hill. This is (for me) the perfect set-up for a rayman game. it explains more about him, its 2D AND its being developed by an indie group of 5 people, which means its not going to be a contrived and manufactured game like the Rabbids series, these 5 people are obviously putting so much care and effort into it and it's just amazing to know that finally, we're getting a PROPER Rayman game.
Sorry for massive post but really wanted to just get all my opinions out there.

I hope this is just the beginning of the new Rayman games
I'd like to see a real Rayman 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, etc.

Re: Rayman Origins
I agree in almost everything you said. I think that some members here are already doing "a storm inside a glass of water" as it says one expression on my language, it's still early to start to throw up conclusions about this game. With the theme that this game wants to show, the graphical quality and the team working on it, that includes Ancel, I'm sure this game will be very promissing. As I said, I'm going to trust on Ancel.SoundslikeStu wrote:Okay, so I'm new here (Hello!) but here's my opinions.

Spanex, I don't think that in 6 months we will have the game (I wish I'm wrong on this) because they still didn't talk about the release date and the specific platforms it will be released. Maybe on Xmas season we will have more information about it.
