Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
I really hope Mexico will make it, I'd be sad if the two teams I root for get eliminated.
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
Well Argentina's defence doesn't look too great I think... so Mexico has a chance there I guess (thought I haven't rly watched any matches that Mexico played
)

You never know, Germany may fluke their match and England may play to such a standard as they did in today's first half against Slovenia! It's unlikely though.

I think so, but let's be honest, our team's pretty overrated.

England is overrated, Germany is underrated. Özil has been the player of the tournament so far!

England isn't overrated - everyone KNOWS its crap.Tobbe wrote:England is overrated, Germany is underrated. Özil has been the player of the tournament so far!
Half of Brits support Germany this World Cup, so to say it's underrated is to be vastly misinformed.
Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
It's overrated as hell in Norway. We are probably the most anglophile nation in the world - including England. Everybody here (me included) love English football, and most of us have a favourite team on the other side of the North Sea in addition to our local Norwegian teams. I have realised what most other Norwegians haven't, though: That although the English Premier League is probably the best league in the world at the moment, this doesn't apply to your national team.

Re: 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa
Good news, everyone! I just looked at the table for the knockout stages, and I realised that there will be at least one big surprise in this year's World Cup. One of the following teams is guaranteed to reach the semi-finals: Uruguay, South Korea, USA or Ghana! If USA or Ghana reaches the semis, it will be the first time they get this far. South Korea surprisingly reached the semis when they hosted the tournament in 2002. Uruguay, on the other hand, have won the World Cup twice, in 1930 in Montevideo, and in 1950 in Brazil. However, the last time they got further than the last 16 was back in 1970, so it's been a while since Uruguay was a major footballing nation.
EDIT: Correction of a rookie mistake: The US of course reached the semi-finals in the very first World Cup back in 1930.

I will cry if the US makes it to the semis. They have everything they need; 'soccer' is the only place where we can laugh at them openly. Ghana should get it, or maybe Uraguay.
