The processor and amount of RAM are already excellent. Even if your graphics card itself is not capable of producing Full HD images, your CPU can take over some needed calculations.

That's not optimal, but it'll be playable :)

Well I'll remind again that the computer was built by root on August 2007, it's already going to make 3 years. But it works perfectly for every stuff I do on it. :P

I've had my XP for 5 years and all the time I really wanted to change to Linux... but Wine doesn't support everything, so I didn't.

Back to my RO comment...
I said:
So it's a little like Final Fantasy VII... pre-rendered 3D environment and full rendered 2D character models? Or am I missing the plot?
Drolpiraat said:
Ummm, I don't know if you know, but it's NOT 3D. Nothing is 3D at all. He said that in the conference: they use fake 3D ( which is still 2D ) to make the environments look like 3D. It probably uses DirectX or something though, but... why are we even talking about that? Isn't that the most normal thing in the world?

And Marley, Final Fantasy VII uses pre-rendered 2D backgrounds and fully rendered 3D character models. :P
DOH! I got them backwards, I know. :oops2:
But now I know where you're coming from, Drolpiraat. It's the same scrolling system used in the original R1, and the 2D Madness engine in R3 (except Rayman is 2D as well), where the environment gives a 3D feel, but is totally flat and not 3D at all... right?

Still, I wasn't very concerned about the capacities of my Gaming PC, I am confident it will be fully compactible with the PC game. When I look to the graphics style from Rayman Origins it quite reminds me the graphics style of Plants VS Zombies. Maybe it's the same kind of tecnology being used? The people who worked on P.VS Z. was also a small team.

Well, I would recommend you to try again, but with these easy tools:

PlayOnLinux (free) - This is a frontend to Wine, that makes you able to select which version of Wine you want to run, because every version acts differently in case of compatibility. It has an configurator, with a repository that contains a number of patches and scripts, for making games able to install and run. It takes use of WinePrefix, so the applications doesn't interact with each other. The whole thing is mostly automatical.

CrossOver Games (commercial) - This is also a frontend to Wine, while being a special version of it. This doesn't let you select which specific version of Wine it should run, and has instead patched the Wine components for increasing most compatibility, and contains an configurator as well. It takes use of WinePrefix, which they call bottles instead. The whole thing is also mostly automatical too.

New post in the ubiart blog :)

There is also a video wich shows how they animate things with the framework. Also Michel is in the video =)

The robotic-arm reminds me at some boss of the first BGE and GLADOS from Portal.

Really cool! :D

It wouldn't be great UbiArt putting one or two months before the release of RO (in case of being confirmed to PC) available a demo of the 1st episode? Just to sharp our appetite.

That looks really promising, there's no telling what we'd all do with it! :D

PORN!?

Just kidding. Yeah, it looks useful. Didn't they say something about being able to change stuff in Rayman Origins?

It would be cool we being able to use a "Rayman Origins Designer" like program, to create levels. :)

Yup, I've read somewhere that players will be able to modify RO content... Maybe something like in Little Big Planet? Dunno.

At least UbiArt hinted to be available a 2 Player mode in RO, and "other surprises". If the stuff we already saw in the trailer are already a surprise, I can imagine the rest.

Someone should remake Rayman 1 with the UbiArt tools.

That's an interesting idea. Who knows that someday that would be considered?

I also had this idea. I don't think I'd have the know-how though. :oops2:

Wait if Rayman Origins is technically Rayman 1, then does that make Rayman 1 Rayman 2, Rayman 2 Rayman 3, and Rayman 3 Rayman 4? So Murphy is in Rayman 4! :P

Nope, Rayman Origins is Rayman 0. So, as pointed out by Bloodgrey, RO = R0 :)

But good observation nonetheless.
