This is a big find! :waaahhh:

Who ever knew that Rayman was originally going to be released on the SNES?! Seriously, this is huge!

(Unless it's fake, which I doubt.)

Oh, and I love the beta Skops. 8)

Although it's interesting to see how he was going to look before, I'm glad they re-designed him. He looks like such a generic scorpion there.

It's funny that these images surface just shortly after 'Rayman Origins' is announced. We went so long without any Rayman news and then BAM, it all comes at once.

I think he looks more like a lobster than a scorpion, aside from the tail.

See that little, blonde, blue Raygirl thing? It's in most of the pictures.
What a relief she didn't make it in.

This looks really interessting. I think someone has to scan and translate the full article from the magazine^^

http://www.decitre.fr/livres/Pix-n-love ... 2918272144

It has also an interview with Michel Ancel.
It seem that he gave the magazine the screens and informations about the SNES version.

Rayman looks like he has eaten something really nasty here, and overfed his 'girlfriend' in the same manners..

Nice find! After all these years. I wonder what was the actual reason for this version being cancelled? Not that I mind, seriously, no..

OH - also, Rayman has a red tummy instead of a faaaaaaaaaabulous purple one. My god, they're obese.
It's good they moved to the Atari et al, because the SNES sure made it look ugly as hell.

EDIT: Red plums, too. :? Tomatoes, originally? No...
Apples?
Napples?
Nipples? :hinhinhin:
The more I think about it, the more nightmarish this whole Rayman on SNES thing becomes. He's always been a bit rubbish on Nintendo consoles, save R3 for GBA.

Holy shit, my head literally exploded when I saw this. Literally.

It seems that Rayman was originally going to be a two-player game, or at least have the option of two-player functionality. Those three screenshots provide a fascinating glimpse into R1 SNES. We have to get a ROM of this somehow.

Yes, somebody absolutely must acquire a copy of Pix’n Love #13 and scan it, so we can feast on the screenshots and interviews within. Is the magazine new or a few years old? Either way, we must scan it soon. It will get harder to find with every passing day. We must not allow this to slip through our fingers...

If anyone wants to actually BUY the magazine, or at least read a summary (in French) of its contents, here's the link:
http://editionspixnlove.fr/collectiondetail.php?ID=43
It does look pretty recent.

AH!! Here's a picture of the page:

Yeah that magazine only came out a week ago according to that page.
And wow, 132 pages. With Rayman as cover story! That thing contains an awesome amount of awesomeness! Someone must get it. Now.

I'm thinking of buying it... but it would be better if someone who spoke French as a first language got it - quicker shipping, I believe, and the magazine would be more understandable too!
Well, I'm grabbin' it anyways. 12 euros (that's about...£10). I can do that. :P

The text at the crystal says: Skops.
Which could mean that Skops the scorpion is a original boss in this game.

That’s just a tease. There are definitely at least a few more pages. Notice how that page has no screenshots of the SNES version? And where’s the Michel Ancel interview? The thing’s 132 pages long, so I’d say there are quite a few pages dedicated to the cover-story.

Maybe you should get the collector’s edition. There are only going to be 750 copies of it or something, and it’s got a picture of Moskito on the front instead of Bzzit. And everyone knows Moskito is better than Bzzit.

Yes. Look at the bottom-right screenshot. That is Skops. The word ‘Skops’ on the HUD is apparently related to that crystal directly underneath it, so I’m guessing that each boss guarded a crystal, and the player can switch between crystals at will, with each one granting a different power or something. Notice that Raygirl doesn’t have a crystal equipped...

The magazine contains screenshots of R1 SNES, so, therefore, they must have recently taken one of their R1 SNES cartridges out of the Ubisoft archives so they could play it to get the screenshots. So there might be an R1 SNES cartridge lying around somewhere, waiting to be stolen by enterprising Ubisoft employees...
