Re: Unseen images of Rayman SNES version
Gee I wonder whose wonky scan that is, it's certainly not Unseen64's.
Good job.

Re: Unseen images of Rayman SNES version
I've read online that instaed of the Atari Jaguar, PC, PSX, and Sega Saturn, Rayman was going to be ported to a whole lot more console at the time. They are the Gizmondo(Unheard console was a failure), the Sega 32X(add-on to Sega Genesis/Master System), the Virtual Boy(Nintendo's fist failure), and the SNES. So oringinally, we were going to have 8 ports of Rayman 1. Then up until now we were going to have 18 ports of Rayman instead of 14.

Rayman on the Virtual Boy? Oh man. That games collision detection already confuses me. I wouldn't be able to handle the Virtual Boy.

The game's graphics are bright enough but imagine having it make your eyes bleed. Even emulators of that fuck your eyes up.

Mercy, some emulators can't do it all. I'm going to put this info on Raywiki.

Re: Unseen images of Rayman SNES version
Rayman would have been rather cramped in a SNES cart, especially as SNES carts bigger than 2MBytes were rather uncommon. Even SNES Doom was squeezed into a 2MB cart. When SNES dropped plans for the CD add-on, that pretty spelled the doom of SNES Rayman.Sabertooth1000000000 wrote:"Long before the Jaguar and PlayStation versions, Michel Ancel and his team were working on Rayman for the SNES. Even if it was in advanced development, the game was stopped in favor of the CD support. As exclusives, here are a few pictures from this aborted version."RayFan9876 wrote:Can someone translate that?

A CD add-on? This is new to me.
I find it amazing how people used to squeeze such big games in such small file sizes. Imagine what we could accomplish today with that kind of squeezing.

The N64 had an add-on called the N64DD.

It was called the Playstation.ParadoxJuice wrote:A CD add-on? This is new to me.
Sony was contracted to make Nintendo's CD add-on for the SNES, but canceled it after Sony had done most of the work. Sony got so ticked off they went ahead and turned the add-on into a stand-alone console, and the rest is history.
When you see a game delivered on SIX DVDs, you have to wonder.I find it amazing how people used to squeeze such big games in such small file sizes. Imagine what we could accomplish today with that kind of squeezing.
Of course, most of that is rendered cut-scenes, and artwork for levels and things.

Re: Unseen images of Rayman SNES version
The N64DD was Japan-only, that's probably why you didn't hear of it.
Re: Unseen images of Rayman SNES version
I think that acessory is japanese, only released in Japan. I saw on Youtube once the boot video from it. It even had Mario running side to the "N".Extremist wrote:The N64 had an add-on called the N64DD.
