How do you create your own sprites? Something like photoshop or gimp?
Or are there any programs that actually sets you to the right resolution etc?

These are pretty good. It's a lot of detail for such a simple shape.metalflygon08 wrote:
Andre, Andre's hit idle, and a Black Lum is born.
I like how André is limbless now. It's not very intrusive, but it fits perfectly.
May I offer a suggestion for the Black Lum being born? Make a slower and more dramatic version.

I use MSpaint basic myself, I like it, as for the more dramatic existance coming into, it belongs to Andre, he get's a nice one with dark energy, since in R3 the BL grunts are formed quickly in a puff of smoke.

more work into the Hall of Doors, I might just make a R1 hall of Doors on the side, since until after the Mountains, mine follows close to the R1 map.
the names and charecters only appear when you are on the level warp flower.

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
Sorry, but before you really get started, I need to say it looks like a mess. Please don't mix Rayman 1 (and 2 2D) with Rayman 3 GBA. And even the characters from Rayman 3 GBA doesn't seem to fit, because of their textures and design. And the background from Space Mama level should be modified to be loopable.metalflygon08 wrote:http://www.iaza.com/work/100823C/hall47114.png
But overall, I like your idea and sprites, but they just need to be refined.
And I have an question: Are you going to make this as an expansion pack?
If you do a better job, when I will add it to the list:

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
He used R3 GBA sprites? Where? I think it all blends perfectly.
Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
I also thinks it blends pretty nice, but then again I may have ignored something.
However, I do agree with Powerpatrick that the background should be modified. Great work though!

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
I think he should replace the R3 GBA elements with something created by himself. Really, they don't blend that much. Be more skeptical. I want it to be more native-looking. Because the colors on the platforms looks too "boring" and the style looks too "shoddy" for the rest of the environments. Another suggestion could be to fade between the "worlds".

Can you tell me where the R3 GBA elements are? I don't see them.

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
It seems fine to me. The new vines (both the thin green ones and thick brown ones) are the only ones that don't appear to blend to me. But what do I know, I'm no artist. I guess others notice it more than me.

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
The first thing you circled is actually from R1, the backgrounds only for viewing purposes (the beta copy that I edit has a solid backdrop for easy editing) and of course the charecters only appear there when you are on the warp spot, like how the Hall in R2 worked, but I see where your coming from, I'm working on custom sprites, but they take a while in R1 style since there is loads of shading and details as opposed to the sprites I normally handle (which are mostly of the Pokemon series).
and suprizingly enough, just giving a solid outline to a R3gba sprite really helps get it close to the R1 style, Murphy for example, looks much closer to a R1 stlye sprite than before I added the outline, obviously he still needs work, but you get what I'm saying.

I really hope you want to improve everything.
But you didn't answer my question:
Is this going to be an expansion pack?

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
That...I'm not sure on yet, It might just be it's own fan game, I'm not certain yet...
Then again, I'm not 100% certain what makes a Limb to The Past an expansion pack (besides being in R1 style, mostly)

Re: The Legend of Rayman, a Limb to the Past
I suppose an expansion pack would need to be something that continues straight from the original game.

Not necessarily. Such modifications like these can also be classified as expansion packs.Chacanger wrote:I suppose an expansion pack would need to be something that continues straight from the original game.
