Rayman M installation problems

Post by Naniix »

Hello.

I'm having trouble installing Rayman M on my PC.

I enter Disk 1 and my Virus Scanner (Panda Security) can't run "SetupUbi.exe" because it says it has "Generic Malware"

In the past with this game I already had problems with this too. The game was playable, but suddenly shut down at moments. I have no idea how this Malware got into Disk 1..

Any suggestions? (I already thought about buying the game again but then I shouldn't know if I have the same problem..)

False positive maybe? Disable the virus scanner while installing and re-enable it afterwards.

I have other errors while installing rayman M, says something like: un erreur du fiche de I/O ... (Somithing about can't read from the CD,turns out that Textere32.cnt or so can't be read so i can olny play the game using 16-bit textures)
Also after the error the installer freezes and you have to manualy copy some data from disk 1 and 2

also naniix, like plumgmk says: try disabling the antivirus, or tel it to ignore <cddrivehere>:\Ubbisetup.exe

"maybe" you say? What if it isn't false? Then I have Malware in my PC. I don't like to take that risk..

It's most likely not if you trust the place where you bought the game.

I have to agree with that. Although, I'll disable the virus scanner and try today.

Welcome to the forum Naniix. :)

I already had the Panda Antivirus for a couple of followed years but I gave up on it due to several reasons and I'm currently using Kaspersky and I am very satisfied with this one.

It happens the same problem happened to me when I had that antivirus and I wanted to install the game. Of course it is a fake alert, since this is a commercial video game.

The solution is obvious: Deactivate the antivirus during the install and play it. If the antivirus complains when you run the executable file of the installed game, try to put the game folder and/or the executable file in the "Exceptions/Exclusions (?)" section that you might find in the options. Otherwise just deactivate the antivirus everytime you want to play it. I'm sure your problem is fixed now.

I just installed it today by closing the virus scanner. And it worked, too. When I started playing I enabled the virus scanner again but after playing it for 2 hours it suddenly shut down.. There was a pop up saying "There was a problem in RaymanM and it must be closed"

I don't know if that's the exact translation what the message said since my PC is dutch.

I think that sometimes happened with me. My advice is to close every program before running Rayman M, to avoid those sudden shut downs.

So, I guess the problem is solved right?

Can you say if it is always at the same point: say loading screen or what, or just randomly during gameplay

Also Im dutch: it's excact translation of the must be closed window :P

It's during gameplay. The screen freezes and the music starts to freeze for a moment. Then it shuts down.

@Haruka: I have a program called GameBooster. It closes unneeded programs to make the games run faster. I don't know if it should work. I'll try it.

EDIT: Just tried using GameBooster, but it shut down again..

Here's a pic of the error, don't know if it helps

I was recomending you to turn off programs manually. Try to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys and (carefuly) try to turn off programs.

GameBooster does that. It closes programs. And by using ctrl alt delete, I don't close programs if I don't know wtf it does.

Since it would do the same as GameBooster, I would still have the problem.

Well you could check for the icons in your System Tray and disconnect unecessary programs.

I think it is still quite odd you still having problems with your game.

I always had problems with Rayman M/Arena crashing and not wanting to start up etc.
The solution? Get the PS2 version! That's what I did and it solved all problems XD

At least with the PS2 version it is possible to play with other people, it seems it is impossible for the PC version now. I think USB Gamepads aren't supported/recognized by the game.

At least in XP they work(gamepads&joy's), i used to play it alot with a friend

Also if the game only crashed at certain event's in the game it may be something corrupted?

That still woudn't solve the problem, since I already said GameBooster does the same.

But I have Windows XP. :boon:

What I cannot understand is why my gamepad isn't detectable if Windows says it is detected!

It could be corrupted, yes.. It could crash at every moments. Doesn't matter if I would do battle or race. If I possibly buy the game again then I'm not sure if it would have the same problem. What I first want to know is if it's actually possible to fix this error.
