What do you plan to be when you grow up?

Post by Rayfist »

Howdy. When I grow up I want to be either a graphic designer, web programmer, graphic tester, or anything else that involves games.
It's my first year of high school currently. So it occured to me in class... what do you want to do when you grow up?

If it exists, then this is better than bumping it, that's why I said it's probably fine. It's an interesting topic anyway.

I'm wanting to be... well I've said this before... but I want to be a game project manager and designer at Crytek, Frankfurt, where I plan to get Rayman 1.5 published with Ubisoft. Also I plan to be a girl, but that goes without saying. :oops2:

I don't know to be honest. I'd love to work with music.

Y'know, that bugs me. How can you go through your whole life not knowing what you want to be or do? Isn't there something you've always wanted to do, like a dream or something? Your guiding light? :) Ah well, the idea just seems inconceivable to me.

There's a difference between dreams and reality, this topic is about what you plan to be.

Well I'm a grown up already. I'll be 22 on the 15th of september. Still I want to reach my desire to have some artsy job, drawing comics, or design games, or such, also I love to cook, it's like being an evil scientist in the kitchen. :D

I'd like to be a sound engineer, or a researcher maybe but I'm not sure at all I could become one.

Hmm... I'd like to do linguistic studies, test out Sapir-Whorf, etc... but if I keep up my oils and spend time on stuff, I'd also think about being an artist. Awful pay - but it's fun, so.

Game designer, thought I know it sounds terribly clichéd at this point. Film director would be a good job as well. Or maybe I’ll end up writing books.

That's not what I mean, I mean actually having nothing you want to do. I mean I don't get how some people can be "meh, I don't know. Give me a random job".

Besides, If you have plenty of swell stuff to show for the job you want, it's not gonna be hard to get it; most people are just too lazy to do that.

I'm not entirely sure what I'd like to do for a living, so I fit into that category. My main aim is to work in a variety of environments and then select the one I feel happiest and most comfortable in. I don't think there's anything wrong with this approach - in fact I'd say it's less restrictive and gives a wider window of opportunity.
