I'm really sorry for your friend. This is so horrible :(
What's worse, even if people knew it was a rap, the did send the video and pics to there friends on Facebook. That is disgusting.
About Facebook, it is not normal that such video and pics did arrive on the social network. I am very disappointed by this lack of professionalism.

It really bothers me that they would actually show it to everbody they knew, as if the act itself wasn't bad enough. All of them clearly have some deep mental issues.

That is what I was thinking myself. It's like people can't do the difference between what is good and what is not cause it's "on Internet". Awful.

Facebook has faulted many, many times. I honestly think their site should be taken down if they don't get some better people working there, it just seems carelessly lazy. It's as if they didn't realize how dangerous the place can be if not looked after properly.

I just can't get the image of her face out of my head when it came close to the camera. It was like all the sadness, pain, and pleading you could squish into one emotion.

Also another problem. I said I'd do much better this school year, because the last few years I've been doing not-so-good compared to my school standards. Now I'm trying this year, but this event might bring it right back down again since the whole time I was at school on Monday, I couldn't think about anything else, and I totally missed what was going on in-class.

Its horrifying just to think about that video. Facebook should start getting serious about what people upload so stuff like this NEVER happens again.

I live in Ontario.

Facebook can be fucking shit at that sort of thing especially refusing to put a report button for if somebody's a pedophile. >:C

Ah, Ontario.

There's no report button? I mean I've never bothered to check, but that's horrendous! What are they thinking?

I remember you telling me about this on irc (I need to come to the forums more often) That is VERY scary and sad Rayfan. I saw it on the news last night and nearly cryed. Its terrible what kind of sick stuff people try to do these days!

Yup. :(

And like I also said on the IRC, sexual crime has doubled since 2007 giving 2009 the highest number of assaults in recorded history.

It might have to do with lenience, even though you might not think of it.

You know how a lot of the time, we consider our parents to be super-strict get-in-the-wayers, and would ground us for doing something bad? But their parents scared then and injured them to have them follow instruction. Yet if you think about it, things like this didn't happen nearly as often 50 years ago as they do in this generation. Why? It seems that the only way to get teens to be good people is to scare them with pain, except for those few people who actually can resist and have more important things to do than our immediate present or where our body leads us.

I know this is in a way, backwards to the topic, but it's true mostly for girls. I mean girls don't start as much Satanic activity as boys do, but far more of them engage in them and welcome things to them. So many are like this, that we who find it so incredibly hard to find someone good to hang on to. But because of that, if that good person has something happen to them or something that keeps you apart, you die inside, at least until everything goes back to normal.

My friend here, she was a smart, well organized person who had a lot going for her. Most importantly, she had the common sense so many lack that it should be called "uncommon sense". The reason I refer to her in the past tense, is because I don't know how long it will take her to be back to normal, or if she will ever be back to normal. Unfortunately this is one of those times where I die inside.

The offenders seem to pry into the ones who would be the most unsuspecting and have the most startled reaction, who would enjoy it the least, and who would remember it the most, because we have the wit to hold off relations until we're of age, which renders us scarred when it happens.

Curse this male body. I shouldn't have to look like someone to make a stand for them in front of the majority, let alone deal with all the pain it's caused me.

I just hope your friend can cure herself psycologically as soon as possible...

But it isn't a new thing, about Facebook being faulted a lot of times. I even heard somewhere that you can't delete accounts on Facebook and your privacy isn't respected because Facebook gives personal information to enterprises. :?

Facebook can't be blamed. It's impossible for any social networking company to monitor the actions of millions of users every day. I do believe that severe punishments (including prosecution) should be issued for such behaviour, though.

Anyway, what El Dango said. Hopefully you and your friend will mentally recover from this horrible ordeal. Chin up mate and think of the future :)

I don’t like how you’ve inserted your odd feminist agenda into this. They raped her because they were scumbags, not because they were ‘sexist’.

Edit: JESUS CHRIST was I an enormous prick back then. Please ignore everything I said before about 2013.

Be thankful there was a video in the end, you know for the sake of solid evidence... but yeah any attack is traumatising. It's a shame for you that it was someone you had personally known. Hope she feels better soon.

That's nice, I was pissed off. Also scumbags like these treat women like shit anyway. We all know that though.

Although I agree Facebook can't fully be blamed for not noticing the video right away, it is their fault that there's no such report button or anything.

But I can think of it this way: At least she didn't die. She ALMOST died, but she didn't. If she died, there would obviously be no coming back, but at least now, even though it may take a while, she's still there.

About the video.... Is it better that the video provided access to the attackers to be caught quickly at the cost of having a widespread video all over the continent, or would it be better that some of them got away, or maybe found much later, but no video?

Scumbags treat males like shit too. They treat everyone like shit. I know from personal experience. The fact that it was a girl in this case shouldn’t even factor in a moral analysis of the perpetrators. Your comment in the original post reminded me of the sort of feminists who think that a man who does something unkind to a woman is ‘sexist’, or the sort of political-correctness brigade who think any white person who does something unkind to a nonwhite must be ‘racist’. This discriminatory way of thinking implies that doing something similar to your own kind is in some way less reprehensible.

Spiraldoor, can you for once not find something to argue about? I hardly see this is the time and place.

People don't always think things through when they're angry, if you can believe that.

I’m sick of this constant bleating about me supposedly being argumentative. It’s irritating and it’s bullshit. I was involved in two arguments in a short space of time a year or so ago, and Holy Crap said ‘Spiral you are a walking argument DERP DERP’ (or something to that effect), and for some reason you all lapped up his jocular caricature and began parroting it every time I disagreed with any of you about anything. ‘Uh-oh, spiraldoor is arguing again! Everyone ignore him!’

I notice that you’ve entirely sidestepped my perfectly valid problem with you ramming feminism into unrelated discussions and your insulting suggestion that men who are cruel to women must believe that women have no ‘souls’. Nicely done.
