Re: Rayman 1
Okay, I just got a dsi points card today, and bought rayman dsi with it.
First of all, both of you guys are wrong about if it's a port of gba or pc. It honestly seems like they used a new engine for the whole game. I'm not kidding.
Going to find details why it could be a new engine. I'll update when I find new ones as I progress through the game.
Rayman seems to jump a tiny bit higher (make jumping parts eaiser?)
5 health peices normally, 10 peices when a (P) is picked up.
Map on the bottom screen. Very handy.
The enemies seem to be coded to do more attacks, which I noticed immediately when I was killed by one of those goblin things (forgot the name) in moskito's nest.
All of the sounds are slightly lower than they are in the PC/PlayStation/Jaguar/Saturn versions.
Some levels have different music, like the magician challenges.
Load times are COMPLETELY eliminated, they couldn't have done that without re-coding the game a ton, look at the ps1 port for psp on the store, it actually has load times, unlike this version.
Some graphics have been changed. More backdrop details in the forest levels, and in band land, the slippery ground (ice stuff) is black, like oil.
I found a glitch where rayman dies every time he respawns in moskito's nest, i'll try to film it later. It is reproducible.
Update 1:
Quite shortly after I started band land and got to the second scene of the first level, I'm hearing some jazz music that includes a saxaphone, keyboard, drums, and bongos playing. Never heard it before in the PS1 or PC version.
Update 2:
Lives refill your health.
Rayman has a new animation when he's hurt while crawling in a tiny space where he can't stand. He lifts his head up slighly and stars appear over it.
Antitoons that make the chomping noise and dive down from the sky.
Update 3:
New attack for the fly things at band land. they hover around and make a buzzing noise, and then kick you, while in the air.
Update 4:
Another new music track. Some sort of crime jazz song, with hip hop stuff like synthesizers.
Rayman says stuff if you leave the ds alone, like the PC version. He says "Hey you!" "I'm waiting...." "Yo, dude!" "ahem *coughing noises*". This includes him doing animations towards the player, such as waving, cupping his hands around his mouth, and looking around.
Update 5:
Noticed that a band "land" backdrop that is only supposed to be used in the first scene of the first level is used throughout the first level. It fits very well, instead of that drab cloud background.
My god, this is my favorite version of rayman ever.
Update 6:
Physics are extremely more accurate when riding the slippery lines. Your momentum going down actually decides how far you go up a slippery hill, in the other versions if you went down a hill you would go flying up one going up without stopping.
Instead of doing the legendary "jump" off of the slippery hill to the 5 lives in algero presto, there is simply a cloud that takes you up there if you trigger a door. I guess ubi knew that that wasn't possible with the new engine they used.
Update 7:
Weird "bad" music notes that open their mouths and go back and forth..
Mr. Sax appears at the end of algero presto spitting "bad" music notes, blocking the exit. All you have to do is hit one back at him and he runs away.
Helicopter hair is obtained at the end of the level.
Scenes where betilla gives you a new power, and then lets you try it out have hidden tings/lives in them
Update 8:
The first scene of twilight gulch uses a very "rocking" song (no pun intended) + I've never heard it before.
Well apparently I won't be able to run through the game and simply clear it. The game pretty much gives you the skills in the wrong order so you have to go back to the forest to get the swinging powerup from moskito's nest, and the run powerup from Mr. Sax's hullabaloo (I'm just guessing, because I can't reach the swing to clear the gap in twilight gulch without it).
I'm going to take a break for a bit.

Rayman learning games map
I got the world map from the learning games!
World Map

Unfortunately, the map is covered with dots.
It should be possible to recover the original background, but its probably stored in some encrypted file.
So I started to remove these dots. There are still a lot though.
World Map 2

It looks awesome all the same though.

OK.Going to find details why it could be a new engine. I'll update when I find new ones as I progress through the game.
You should confirm that.Rayman seems to jump a tiny bit higher (make jumping parts eaiser?)
Then I think I have no doubts: The easiest R1 version is the DSi one.5 health peices normally, 10 peices when a (P) is picked up.
I'll say the same thing as above.Map on the bottom screen. Very handy.
Are you talking about the Livingstones? A confirmation of the attacks would be useful. The enemies seem to be coded to do more attacks, which I noticed immediately when I was killed by one of those goblin things (forgot the name) in moskito's nest.
I would like to listen them. All of the sounds are slightly lower than they are in the PC/PlayStation/Jaguar/Saturn versions.
I'll say the same thing as above. Some levels have different music, like the magician challenges.
I never saw the PS1 port for the PSP.Load times are COMPLETELY eliminated, they couldn't have done that without re-coding the game a ton, look at the ps1 port for psp on the store, it actually has load times, unlike this version.
I think I don't know about the forest ones but the black colour in the pentagrams I have seen in an earlier trailer. Black pentagrams make more sense than blue ones. Some graphics have been changed. More backdrop details in the forest levels, and in band land, the slippery ground (ice stuff) is black, like oil.
If it is the music I'm thinking, then they just decided to swap it.Quite shortly after I started band land and got to the second scene of the first level, I'm hearing some jazz music that includes a saxaphone, keyboard, drums, and bongos playing. Never heard it before in the PS1 or PC version.
That already happened with other versions.Lives refill your health.
You could show that.Rayman has a new animation when he's hurt while crawling in a tiny space where he can't stand. He lifts his head up slighly and stars appear over it.

I say the same thing as above.New attack for the fly things at band land. they hover around and make a buzzing noise, and then kick you, while in the air.
I think that music exists.Another new music track. Some sort of crime jazz song, with hip hop stuff like synthesizers.

What? In Allegro Presto's end you get the Helicopter power, you don't need the Running power to pass Twilight Gulch! Just jump with great height and distance with the Helicopter and throw a telescopic fist to the Pink Ring!Well apparently I won't be able to run through the game and simply clear it.

Re: Rayman 1
I hope you can remove the rest of the dots – we’ve wanted a good copy of this map for years.LethalToaster wrote:I got the world map from the learning games!![]()
It wasn’t really a port, it was just the PS1 version running under the PSP’s built-in emulator.Haruka wrote:I never saw the PS1 port for the PSP.

Re: Rayman 1
I see, because it is curious but Ubisoft never released a Rayman game in PSP.
Re: Rayman 1
That sounds like an exact description of Mr. Sax's theme to me. Are you sure you're not thinking of that?Raymale wrote: Another new music track. Some sort of crime jazz song, with hip hop stuff like synthesizers.
Re: Rayman 1
Hm...
Half of the music used in this I've never heard before. It's probably because I've only completely played through the ps1 version, and my PC version has no music because it's one of those dumb rayman designer re-releases that came with r1 where they forgot to put music in.
Haruka, the lower sounds can be seen in this video (it's not me playing, someone else):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il8lJAoo3vU
if you are used to the pc or ps1 versions, you'll notice the sounds are slightly lower.
also, when I meant that the livingstones did more attacks, I meant to say faster. All the enemies seem to do more faster attacks in general, I was killed by those flying kicking fly things is band land alot... I guess it's to make up for the 10 powers you get?

Re: Rayman 1
Yeah, I'd noticed that using playthrough videos. Rayman kinds of sounds hilariously demon-like when he says 'YEAH!' at the end of every levelRaymale wrote: if you are used to the pc or ps1 versions, you'll notice the sounds are slightly lower.

The way it works is that you can only delete a post if nobody’s replied to it yet. By telling you that you could delete one of your posts (the second one), El Dango simultaneously made it impossible for you to do so.Electoon wrote:EDIT: Oh I see you can only delete a message for a short while after it's been posted, sorry about the mishap
