Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
Can we return to the topic?
I saw this intro when I tested a "Learn English with Rayman" for the PC, but it is a Polish edition. I can't remember who posted the game...
I find curious how the stories are different compared with Rayman Junior.

Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
Whoa nelly I have not seen this before. I'm round my boyfriend's right now so I'll try it out when I have free time at home.
Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
I've seen these screens before, they were also in Rayman's English/French/Math learning games here in NL. Some art and cutscenes might be of interest to Rayman 1 fans, but the games themselves aren't really that interesting unless you know a child loving platformers who wants to learn some English/French or basic math. The level design is usually based more on trivia than actual platforming where you see a question, line, or sum and have to enter the right platform or pathway (each containing an answer) to continue. Taking the wrong path/platform will result in death by a group of red Antitoons and/or spikes.
However, I remember some art and gameplay elements that strongly relate to Rayman 1 but haven't been used in any other games. Like red Antitoons, Betilla's Garden intro art, or those Picture City palette platform (the same as Skops UFO platform instead here it's a palette riding a different line). I think most of the worlds contained some random elements and details that weren't used in Rayman 1 and Designer.
The games I'm referring to: http://www.rayman-fanpage.de/rayman-kid ... man_nl.htm

Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
That’s what I’m using. You just need to run the Track 01.bin file like you would any PS1 disc image. This particular game takes a while to load for some reason.Haruka wrote:Use ePSXe 1.7.0..Electoon wrote: (...) Any tips on what to do/what emulator to use?
Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
I've tried that but it just keeps giving the same error that it can't read the CUE file even though I've checked it and there seems to be no faults
EDIT:
Is the black screen to be expected?
EDIT:
Just tried this and got more possitive results...litterally the colour black. I don't know if this was the game attempting to load or just nothing but explorer crashed and I had to close the emmulator before I could continuespiraldoor wrote: That’s what I’m using. Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
The black screen is normal. For me it goes to the language-selection screen after about ten seconds of blackness.Electoon wrote:Just tried this and got more possitive results...litterally the colour black. 10 seconds? I waited 10 minutes and nothing happened. Maybe I'm just using a slow computer...spiraldoor wrote: The black screen is normal. For me it goes to the language-selection screen after about ten seconds of blackness.

Try to reconfigure the Graphic Plugin then, perhaps the problem is in there.Electoon wrote: 10 seconds? I waited 10 minutes and nothing happened. Maybe I'm just using a slow computer...
Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
I reloaded Track01 in another emulator called 'Psx emulator (v1.13)' and it worked. Thanks for the help, I would have just kept trying the CUE file without this

I know Electoon has got the game working in the PSX emulator, but for anyone who would like to play it in ePSXe, try these video plugin settings:Haruka wrote:Try to reconfigure the Graphic Plugin then, perhaps the problem is in there.Electoon wrote:10 seconds? Just posted a Youtube video with the intro and some gameplay to this version of the game, as it is surprisingly different! I also make some comments and random observations in the form of optional annotations. It can be seen here:

Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
Well this is definitely English with Rayman, not Rayman Junior. If anyone wants the same game for PC or a similar one to learn French, I got those in Dutch.
They probably made the mistake of calling it Rayman Junior because that is also called "Maths and English with Rayman". This is definitely just English with Rayman though. I had no idea it also existed on PS1.

Aww, the most adorable Spanish accent ever.
I can make out most of what he's saying, but the gnome/bulb/garlic acid sequence sounds as trippy as it looks. Superlooooool~
Oh. And electoon, that's not queen's English. Andrew's from South London! Yay!

Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
The Magician seems to have a cousin in England, according to what I listenend in the Spanish intro. oo
And about the garden gnomes, Mr. Dark casted a spell in Betilla and the Magician to transform them into garden gnomes.

Ahh, interesting. The most DASTARDLY spell he could cast.
And Andrew's accent is constantly changing. Halfway through the first stage, he goes Kentish. Then in the second stage, he's posh.

Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
I was going to make pretty much the same video, but I couldn’t be bothered fiddling about with FRAPS until it decided to start working for me, and I was having difficulty understanding what the hell I was supposed to do in the next level (the one after the level shown in your video), so I just uploaded the game and wrote a description with some screenshots instead.Electoon wrote:Just posted a Youtube video with the intro and some gameplay to this version of the game, as it is surprisingly different! Are you playing the same copy of the game that I uploaded? The world map in your video looks quite different to the one I’m getting – the most noticeable change being that they’ve pasted a big green hill where the World Trade Centre used to be, for obvious reasons. While they were editing the map to censor the twin towers, I think they also took the liberty of making several other alterations, such as Raymanising the Statue of Liberty.
Is it possible that the PS1 version of English with Rayman is titled ‘Rayman Junior’? That would explain the apparent discrepancy with the filename.Drolpiraat wrote:Well this is definitely English with Rayman, not Rayman Junior. Re: Rayman Junior – crazy French version
Well, I'm European, so I can help you to clarify this question.
This is the normal Rayman Junior, the one with "The Book of Knowledge":

This is the "crazy French version" we're talking about:

Simply the 4th version of Rayman Junior.
It's weird because I never saw this version in Italy :S
