This works like magic, trust me.

Just add 'Type wagon backwards to prove that your human', then registration will only be accepted if you type nogaw.

That's probably what I'll do later but right now the captcha is rather efficient.

I didn’t really look at it myself. I just reported it as soon as the images started to load. I’ve always hated porn. And we need to think of the children...

Yeah, we are saving your soul everyday, stopping the porn in order to keep chaste our children and making a better world. Amen

StaceyW wrote:As many of us old timers know, we get loads of spambots - automated accounts which try and spam the shiznizz out of the forums, some of which can be hella nasty. Somehow they keep making it past our captcha system but we're looking for ways to at least reduce the problem on both the forums and the wiki.

Please do NOT respond to any of their posts. We [mods] try our best to flush them out before people end up seeing some of the really nasty crap they post, but if we're not online, then you can help by just reporting them with the Report [!] button.

Another type of bot that's been trying to spam the place up is the "cleverbot". They typically trace from India and it tries to pick up certain words in a topic to try and make their posts sound as human as possible, but half the time it still doesn't make sense. Again if you suspect that a member is one of these, please hit report so we can check out its IP and stuff.

Thanks for listening.

The statue I'm building in honor of you is almost finished!

Ugh, I want that guy who didn't know what the e-mail adress was back. He's not particularly a bot, but was damn awesome. :(

Thanks, mostwanted - you've prompted me to go back and read through that entire thread. I wish I'd been there...

Yeah, it's definitely worth the reading. One of my most pleasant forum experiences on here
Maybe I should, to show him he's still appreciated here, write an e-mail to hi.... Oh wait, that wouldn't work out well :|

Where did Hunchman go? He sort of left for a few days and then the bots started showing up...coincidence? I'm only joking, but do you think his absence could have something to do with the sudden invasion?

Hunch ‘sort of left for a few days’? I was under the impression that he had been absent for several months.

Those purple names at the bottom of the screen...I see [Bot]s and a [Spider]. What's a [Spider]?

It's a bot too. Baidu's user-agent is named Baiduspider.

Simple. Feed them Spam. They'll go away. And then once they come back, you better have some spam left over!
