Getting quite worried about all the nuclear power stuff that's going on since. Just hope that they can get it sorted and that the people stay safe.

A few days ago I heard a phonecall from one of the workers at their nuclear powerplant.
It made me so sad. You actually hear a man telling his daughter that he has to do what he is doing, but he won't come back.
The few hundred men, who are making sure the world/japan stays safe, are true heroes.
They don't have to stay, but they will, because they see it as their duty.
I have so much respect for these people, I't' can't be expressed in words.
I pray that their families can live on, knowing their husband/father died a true hero.

Heroes indeed. Where did you hear the phonecall? :(

It's a meltdown, so there is alot of radiation.
But atleast it didn't explode like Chernobyl.

This disaster kind of proves there isn't a god, at least not a benevolent, human-loving one so many have been conditioned to believe.

God didn't make nuclear reactors and such, so he doesn't need to help.
I'm not trying to sound like a true believer, but i think that's the reason.

However, most religious people believe he created the earth, so is thus surely responsible for geological effects such as earthquakes and tsunami.

Except the whole idea behind (Western) Christianity is that the shittiness is our fault, the planet used to be purdy until we disobeyed God. Humans Are Bastards indeed. :mefiant:

Not really. Insignificant humans cannot ‘prove’ anything about such an incomprehensibly superior being simply by observing what we perceive as its behaviour.

In this instance I used 'prove' when I should have used 'suggest' because I didn't expect the semantics police to pick up on such minor details.

I'm tempted to answer this with a boon smiley. :P That's not minor at all.

It was an informal remark. Most grasped the meaning.

Why is it that this forum is constantly barraged by grammar Nazis? :P

Good question. But I think I shouldn't complain either, I'm the same thing in Portuguese language.

I hate when people excessively abreviate words in text-messaging. :pascontent:

Please do not suggest that I was incapable of understanding you purely because my response focused on your use of the term ‘prove’. I know what you meant, and my response holds true regardless of whether what you wrote and what you meant are the same.

Insignificant humans cannot glean ‘suggestions’ about such an incomprehensibly superior being simply by observing what we perceive as its behaviour.

Please inform me as to the identities of said ‘grammar Nazis’. I see none here but I would be quite pleased to meet them.

You, Spiral.

Haha, half-kidding, half-kidding. :)

I mean I've never been on another forum where people point out others' grammar mistakes, let alone this extensively.

Then why exactly did you post in the first place, I wonder? The fact that you emphasised the word 'prove' implies you were responding specifically to my use of the word.

Any religious person can draw conclusions based on what they perceive as the behaviour and characteristics of a god. If a religious person believes the earth and all its shaping was formed by this god, they must intrinsically understand what he's accountable for, and can make assumptions surrounding this.

Jeez Louise, Spiraldoor, you are picking on the qualities that make humans imperfect. If every single thing I said was a hundred percent accurate or flawless, I would kill myself. Don't be a consequentialist. Don't say you aren't being one, because you are.
