I read that eShop and the Internet Browser will only be available in the beginings of May.

Oh right, Rabbids 3D. Got to wait for reviews.

Rayman 3D took me 3 days to complete. It was incredibly easy, and only had 250 lums! Well, only 249 of them to be exact. The "1000th Lum" you find in the secret area in the Tomb of the Ancients is physically impossible to attain... It also suffers from the odd glitch here and there and oh, yes... the black screens of death as errors appear which force you to shut the system down all together (I only came across it 4 times. Apparently it's the same for all Ubisoft 3Ds games).

However, I gotta admit playing Rayman 2 in 3D was fantastic and I couldn't let go. :L

Um no there are still 1,000.

Regarding the 1,000th lum, while I can confirm with you that I've got that problem as well, I just about managed to grab it by deliberately hurting myself with the mini spiders that show up, making me bounce a little. But when I did get it, OPS it crashed (couldn't move him) and I would have to quit out, luckily it still saves the lums I already got including that one.

edit: beat it today. While it's nowhere near as much as an abortion as Rayman DS was, there are still a lot of flaws from where the Casablanca and Bucharest teams don't seem to know what they're doing, you know I failed to get on the hot air balloon about 3 times before I got on it. They also buggered up the flying shell controls making it feel really weird - not much more difficult, just weird.

What these teams need is a good kick up the butt and make some better 3DS games, or else I'll just stick to face raiders with celebrity photos.

I've been meaning to join for a while, but i wanted to wait until i had something relevant to post. Bought Rayman 3D a few days ago and have no 100% completed it. It's pretty good, but a clearly lazy port. As previous users have stated though, nowhere near the abomination that was Rayman DS.

Pros-
- Gameplay and controls are intact and the game still plays perfectly (controls work great with the new analog pad on 3DS)
- the 3D effect during gameplay ENHANCED the platforming for me (i've never had an issue with platforming, but after experiencing it, it's awesome)
- game is still fun even though it's old and overported
- music still sounds great

Cons-
- framerate issues, jumps between 25fps and 60 (nothing game killing, but unacceptable for a 12 year old Dreamcast game on a system far more powerful). Even the N64 version maintained a solid 60fps.
- they removed the dynamic lighting/shading on characters and the environment (again, wtf, this is a 12 year old DC game being ported on a system far more powerful. A system renowned for its advanced lighting and shader techniques no less.)
- the 1000th lum glitch. You CAN collect it with a trick, but the area is a dead zone that you can't get out without it freezing and forcing you to exit. And while the lum does disappear, it doesn't add it to your lum count apparently, you can still only get a maximum of 999 lums
- a few transparency bugs with water and light sources, rain messes up a bit in the Iron Mountains, sky doesn't always tile correctly, fewer character animations in cutscenes
- some sound effects either don't play, play VERY softly, or play at the wrong time (syncing issues)

The very least i can credit them on is that the game still looks quite clean. Removed effects or not, the models and textures still look as good as the DC game. And the game has no real inherent gameplay flaws. The 3D REALLY enhanced the platforming. I'd probably give this effort a 7/10. I contemplated a 6, but it's still extremely playable. The game is clearly a rushed port made to coincide with the 3DS' release. Such a shame. Still, it remains the only decent handheld port IMO (DS sucks, iOS version controls horribly, and the PSN version is based on the inferior PS1 version).

Nobody else had problems with error screens? They've also affected my 3DS console and now I get them randomly on any program. Thankfully it's not a huge problem and they're quite rare but it's still incredibly annoying when it happens.

@Granville:

Wait, they removed the dynamic lighting? That's so random and stupid! Hmm. :tssk:

Haven't had any black screens of death or anything so far, barring the 1,000th lum glitch, hopefully soon there'll be patches or whatever.

I need to give my opinion yet, when I save enough for buying the game.

The game isn't in every shop here, and it is at 49,99€ in the most acessible places (eeeep).

Was the 1000th lum bug in the dreamcast version?
I'm surprised Ubisoft didn't make Rayman 3D a re-make of Revolution, I thought that was an amazing version. Or even Rayman 3.

Nope, the 1000th lum works in every other version (except for the PS1 version i think, which i don't believe HAS a secret lum, there are only like 800 in the whole game). I agree wholeheartedly that they should have based this off of Revolution. It's the best version in my opinion. There are more 3D models as well, i think it would have worked better with the 3D effect. But if Ubisoft can't even get a port of the Dreamcast version right without having to remove lighting and making it suffer from framerate issues, maybe it's better they didn't make Revolution 3D. This port reeks of being rushed sadly. It's still a great game and plays really well, but it's pathetic considering we're dealing with a very powerful handheld (much more powerful than DC or even PS2). :tssk:

@RayFan9876

Yeah, it took me a while to figure out why the game looked somewhat less dynamic and awesome. It was the lighting. It's such a shame they removed it. It wasn't for any other reason other than Ubisoft just trying to rush the game out before it was ready. The 3DS is a lot more powerful than either Dreamcast or PS2. It's especially renowned for its rather extensive support for advanced shaders and lighting (just go watch the Resident Evil Revelations trailer, which is real time and being run on actual 3DS hardware). No good reason for this. If Ubisoft had put any actual effort into Rayman 3D, we could have gotten a stunning port of Rayman 2 Revolution with upgraded textures, superior lighting, flawless 60fps framerate, and even more detail. As it is, they chose to take the easy way out and rip people off.

I also seriously doubt the people who programmed this port KNEW about the secret lum. The entire area is like a glitch. Trampoline spiderweb doesn't work, it's a dead end with no way out other than pausing and quitting the level (freezes you in place if you try to jump down the hole), and even when you manage to collect the lum it doesn't add it to your lum count or percentage as far as i can tell (i think it did this in the original).

^Wow, that's awful. Grr Ubisoft. At least they're doing an amazing job with Assassin's Creed. I just wish they put even half that much effort into Rayman.

A Rayman Revolution port would be very welcomed as long as they don't screw it up a lot. But I'm still quite disappointed to know that Globox Village was scrapped again. Why Ubisoft?! WHY? You guys are giving us the feeling that you want the Sega Dreamcast version to drown in the past and get lost in time forever.

Wrong. It adds 0,01%.

Since RRR, I've been seriously thinking that Rayman isn't having the same dedication and support from Ubisoft as he had before in the golden era of Rayman 2 between the years of 1999 and 2001. Those were times.

Launch games in general are almost always rushed but yeah it's like the teams involved seriously didn't think that anyone would go down the secret hole with the 1,000th lum there. And yeah I noticed that the whole thing seemed to be a lot brighter than other versions which can be a good thing sometimes ie I can see where I'm going.

It isn't about "not focussing on Rayman". It's just that Ubisoft itself has some serious problems in developing:

Every launch tittle was rushed and so are all their upcoming games gonna be too. I think over 15 is way too many for a developer company, which hasn't done anything great for a long time.

I was extremely dissapointed when this game came out.
It's an EXACT port of Rayman DS...because it's a Dreamcast port of the Rayman 2 game.
The frame rate is bad, and the 3D hurts my eyes when things are flying at you on the screen especially when it's at a million miles per hour =P
What I'm dissapointed with also is that Rayman 3D SHOULD have been a port of Rayman 3 for the PC or Xbox or something...and it's sad that Ubisoft had redone this game...when it was such a bad port on the DS originally

All the better for critics to gang up on them all like giant isopods do with doritos 8) They have lots of divisions all over the world but with handhelds they always assign them to the same shit developers [lol wonder if Visual Impact still exists and I think that one was French] over and over again. It's like they're addicted to bad reviews and make shit games just to come back for more haha.

Port of Rayman DS, really?

Anyway it's a shame this game has been received disappointingly, I was considering getting a 3DS for it and some other games but might not bother.

It is a Sega Dreamcast version port, not from Nintendo 64. I might recieve the game next week and tell what I think.

I wrote a typo there..I was meant to say it's an EXACT copy of Rayman DS...I'm saying that because I've played Rayman DS and it was terrible..the framerate is bad...and that game was a port from the Dreamcast...as is Rayman 3D...
Sorry about the typo..
And yes I've played Rayman 3D and I was dissapointed because the frame rate goes from fast to slow...yeah it's a bit smoother but I'm still upset that they choose the same game that they brought out for the DS.
The 3DS is a good buy, but like any console...especially for nintendo ones, the games that come out with it when they're initially released are quite terrible and you have to wait months or a year for a decent game to come out. Like Zelda and the Ocarina of Time for the 3DS which is supposedly coming out AFTER E3.
