I really don't get the hate boner Wikipedia have with fansites... :/

Oh and the next issue of Retro gamer apparently has an article about Michel Ancel, 4 pages, about all his games though not just Rayman.

I think I should slap somebody and edit some typos in the PL version of Wiki since the Wiki (of PC) is reffered there as Wikia and there's that "Rayman fangape"...

This (the 4 pages) was posted for download some time ago, even in this thread, I believe...

No, this is a place to discuss Rayman. Click this link to find somewhere pointless messages are posted.

Sometimes I wonder if a system which indiscriminately ‘rewards’ all posts by automatically increasing the numbers next to Ting icons is such a good idea.

Hey, it's better than moderating every post. Simplicity vs. complications, you know. But just tell it to Polish politicians.

In other "news". Some time ago I tried to imagine new R3-like powers and came up with one which was based on Rayman getting more work-like gloves. That said, I couldn't come up with one thing: should Rayman's gloves transform or should he put gloves on gloves?

Gloves on gloves, for sure. That's way more funny.

I read that Michel Ancel said that in Rayman 3, his true character was revealed: someone who's a bit full of himself and an arrogant showoff. I find this highly doubtful, myself. Why would that be his true character if it wasn't revealed in any of the previous games? Alright, the argument was that in Rayman 2, Ubisoft spent too much time on the environment to still be able to direct attention to the character - but even if this is true, why wasn't this showoff style shown in the original Rayman? I personally don't think it was Ancel's direct intention to make Rayman a showoff, but more the studio's idea of making something funny. It is coincidental how Michel Ancel wasn't actually involved in Rayman 3, the game in which everything started to change - he was only involved as an advisory employee.

So what do you guys think? Was it Ubisoft or Ancel that decided Rayman should suddenly change from a heroic gentleman into an arrogant showstealer?

I'm sure it wasn't his intention from the beginning, but that he just liked the idea of Rayman being a slighty more flawed character and less of a 'perfect hero'. I kinda like this change myself to be honest, though it seems like many people don't.

Actually the team that was working in R3 decided it was better to change Rayman's visual and personality to suit more a fighter and to look more "less good". You can look for interviews in Rayman-Fanpage.

That was one of the things I disliked most in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.

I didn't mind the less-good rayman all that much. Though, i'd like to see the Rayman from R1 return sometime.

That will never happen. If they were going to revert to the original design, they would have done it in Rayman Origins.

Today I spotted a Retro Gamer magazine of Sonic's 20th birthday that contain a small article about Rayman Origins, but nothing new. I couldn't buy it because having in account it was imported from the UK, its price here was 9,90€. :boon: Eeek!

GameInformer wrote an interesting article about "Why The Platformer Still Matters", and Rayman is mentioned twice:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/ ... ageIndex=1

There are other great platformers of that golden era (Not mentioned in there but I think these are also big names of the Platformer genre) like Croc, Oddworld and Captain Claw.

I agree with every bit of it. We need the genre back. I'd much rather play Rayman 1 then another first-person shooter. As much as I love Half-Life, it wouldn't ever reach high into my top 10 games.
