Re: Rayman Origins
Today it is the day that the Nintendo Power of this month comes out. It might appear scans of it over the internet soon or later.
By the way, have you guys decided which version will buy?
I'll pick the Wii and 3DS versions. With some luck in the future I might get the Xbox 360 version.

Re: Rayman Origins
Since I have a PS3, there is absolutely no point in buying inferior versions of the game.

I have a Wii, think about discounted X360 or new 3DS, and there were some rumours about PC version coming later. Call it a crappy situation.

Re: Rayman Origins
First of all, I only have a Wii, and I already bought the game so you pretty much know now...
Also, I think Rayman will have the dash ability like in R1. Watch this in 1:20 to 1:28 - http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-20 ... ins/715328 .

Re: Rayman Origins
The ending of Rayman 1 is a little bit daft, I must admit. However, I always assumed that Mr Dark was merely controlling all of those creatures and that when he was defeated, he lost control of them all. Seems logical enough.beebo44 wrote:Hey, I was playing Rayman 2 The Great Escape on my PS2 yesterday, and I was playing most of the first levels, I got bored quickly, I like Rayman more in his first Debut. Rayman 3 wasn't bad either. But the ending on Rayman 1 is just so shit. No reference to Mr. Dark, all the enemies are friends with Rayman! WHAT THE HELL!?! You'd think they'd have a grudge against him for killing their master.
But yeah, as a hardcore fan of the first game, I agree completely. It's the best game of the lot and always will be, no matter how good 'Origins' turns out to be. I was devastated when they announced that Rayman 2 was going to be in 3D. It was a firm stab in the guts, because I felt like we'd only seen a small fraction of the Rayman world as it was portrayed in the first game. Going by the success of the first game, I always imagined a 2D sequel would be inevitable shortly afterwards, but it was not to be. I was really looking forward to exploring that 2D world more, but there you go. At least we're now getting that second 2D game with 'Origins'.

Re: Rayman Origins
I don't know if this was posted earlier, but there will be 4 different playable Teensies (maybe even more...)-
This one plus the Grand Minimus, the black clothed one and the blue clothed one all appear in RO videos and images. The one I posted is from the box art of the Wii version.

Re: Rayman Origins
I can inform the disappointed R1 players about the ending of the game that in the GBC version of the same game, Rayman battles Mr. Dark face to face and menages to kill him:
By the way, thanks to a guy which is a follower of the Glade of Dreams blog in dA (In which I'm one of the co-founders of the group) he gently scanned the article of the Nintendo Power magazine of this month and uploaded them into Hotfile: http://hotfile.com/dl/123161675/3b1669b ... e.zip.html
It has got interesting stuff. At least by the 3DS screenshots I have big hopes that the game won't suffer a graphical quality decrease in this version. Amen!

We’ve gone over the Teensies’ outfits a million times already.
The ending of the original version was much better than the ending of the GBC version.

Re: Rayman Origins
The GBC thing means nothing, the timelines and everything in fact do not really count as part of the series story (in my opinion). Thanks for the scan!Haruka wrote:I can inform the disappointed R1 players about the ending of the game that in the GBC version of the same game, Rayman battles Mr. Dark face to face and menages to kill him:

It's also interesting to note that the Electoons were the only creatures to remain limbless except Rayman. Even their counterparts, the Darktoons, have been redesigned.

Re: Rayman Origins
Again, Haruka, thank you SO MUCH for the scans! I just finished reading the article and this is the exciting new information provided in it:
• The 6 regions in the game will be pretty similar to R1- Jungle, Music, Food, Mountain, Ocean and Picture.
• The game will be comprised of 3 phases-
- • Phase 1- Completing all levels provided in all worlds, pretty linear. Completing each world (with a boss at its end) will grant you a new ability, such as the ability to dive underwater or to change your size (pixie...?).
- • Phase 2- New levels will be opened in every world, and you will be able to play them in any order (which means there will be a map or hub.) After completing all the levels, the ending and phase 3 will open.
- • Phase 3- A very difficult world called the Land of the Dead.
• The purpose of the Death Medallions is finally revealed- They will open levels in the Land of the Dead!
• Also, the "cruddy neighbors" from the interviews with Shrager are actually the residents of the Land of the Dead.
• The mosquito from the gameplay and the second trailer is referred to as Moskito, but only by the interviewer, so it may not be a confirmation.
• Also, Exciting news for Wii users! The game will feature some motion controls and pointing at the screen! This seems reminiscent of RRR at first, but they say they are restraining themselves with it so it'll be fine.

I know it is a spin-off, but I just pointed this detail as a fact.iambored2006 wrote: The GBC thing means nothing, the timelines and everything in fact do not really count as part of the series story (in my opinion). Thanks for the scan!

Re: Rayman Origins
Adding motion controls to not-motion controlled title in such a way means problems... now I officially think about buying a 360.iambored2006 wrote:Exciting news for Wii users! It was mentioned as possible at time game was still episodic.rayguy wrote:Do you remember where you heard the rumors regarding the PC version?stan423321 wrote:I have a Wii, think about discounted X360 or new 3DS, and there were some rumours about PC version coming later. Call it a crappy situation.
Re: Rayman Origins
That doesn't mean anything. It might give a good result. If the problems would be around sensivity, then the Wii Motion Plus could fix the problem.stan423321 wrote: Adding motion controls to not-motion controlled title in such a way means problems... now I officially think about buying a 360.
Another observation: I think that the Globox Fakirs aren't in the game just randomly. In the place they were, there were needles resembling the Picture City levels, but Fakirs in real life are usually meditating on a group of needles.

Re: Rayman Origins
Thanks a lot or this Haruka! It's finally to great to know about the six (seven actually!) worlds of the game
As concerns the 3DS, its effective resolution is 400 × 240, which means less than twenty times less pixels than the original resolution of the game, 1,920 × 1,080. It may look good on the small screen, but it's a no brainer here.

Yeah, that was what I was getting at. But I've only got the GBA version of Rayman 1, the 10th Anniversary version. So I'm not sure if the ending's the same as the original and the GBC versions. Re: Rayman Origins
Since It's a double post, I decided to use this one for this-
These are the levels we know of- Jungle, Desert, Water, Infernal Kitchen, Glacier, Moody Clouds, Stargate, Fakirs, Daisy Cave, Jungle from 1st trailer. We should be able to categorize these into the 6 worlds from the article- Jungle, Music, Food, Mountain, Ocean and Picture.

Re: Rayman Origins
You should've read the article, but never mind- you will also be able to use a classic controller. I hope they decide to make it Gamecube Controller compatible, that's the only thing I have. Oh, also you'll be able to play with the Wiimote sideways. Motion control only with the Wiimote and Nunchukstan423321 wrote:Adding motion controls to not-motion controlled title in such a way means problems... now I officially think about buying a 360.iambored2006 wrote:Exciting news for Wii users! Edit: Can someone please send me all the available artwork of the Land of the Dead? I kinda missed that. Just PM it or post it here.
It's interesting to note that there are 2 different art styles for the artwork of this world, both of them used only for this one.

Re: Rayman Origins
@iambored2006: Here is the actual list of levels/environments/settings we have to categorise:
@ikke471: Mr Dark simply vanishes in the GBC version, whether he dies is subject to the player's interpretation.
- A jungle level – Rayman is born in the Primordial Forest, indicating that this jungle is in fact the Dream Forest from the original game. It seems that this level's boss is a gigantic living statue.
- Band Land – a location composed entirely of music and musical instruments. It has not been seen since the original game.
- A mountain level – screenshots depict a mountain location surrounded by floating landmasses which recall the floating earth platforms of the original game. The mountain is dotted with small buildings. Its peak is hidden by clouds, but the tentacles of another boss – a gigantic pink monster resembling a squid – can be seen descending from its heights. This mountain location may be the Blue Mountains from the original game. A castle level – the trailer and a piece of concept art depict a colourful and ornate castle with many domes, built over a river which runs through a valley surrounded by jungle.
- The Land of the Dead – a level with a strong resemblance to both the Cave of Bad Dreams and Tomb of the Ancients from Rayman 2. Its name is very similar to that of the Land of the Livid Dead, a Rayman 3 level. The Land of the Dead has a golden palette, and features giant skulls, bones and cobwebs. Concept art depicts graveyards, insects, zombies, a strange hotdog-like character who appears to be selling hotdogs, and numerous tentacled monsters.
- Moody Clouds – a steampunk level in which Rayman rides on the back of Moskito, who shoots enemies down with the energy projectiles from his proboscis.
- A cave level – the trailer shows Rayman sliding through a slippery, dark, mushroom-filled cavern while fighting off enemy insects.
- An underwater level – a screenshot shows Rayman and Globox swimming near the sea floor, surrounded by marine life.
- Infernal Kitchen – several screenshots show the protagonists making their way through a surreal environment made of food and cooking materials. This location's aesthetic is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. This land is home to Baby Dragon Chefs – small, red, reptilian enemies who attack the heroes with their forks.
- Glacier level – This icy landscape features cocktail elements such as giant orange slices. Possibly part of the same food world as the Infernal Kitchen.
- A desert level – Rayman must use gongs to create sound bubbles which shield him from swarms of black flying creatures which resemble bats or locusts. Spiky balls from the original game reappear.
- Picture City – another world from the original game. In Rayman Origins it will feature references to art styles such as pop art and pixel art.
