The 21+5x years can only be applied in cased where the convicted person is sentenced to forvaring (directly translated to English, I guess it means 'detainment'). Only sane people can be given such a sentence, and it can be extended by a maximum of five years at the time for as long as it's deemed necessary (this means it can be used as a de facto life sentence). People are only sentenced to detainment if the court consider it likely that he will repeat his crime or that he poses a threat to society in any other way. Additional years will not be added to people's sentences only for the sake of further punishing the convict.

The Utøya mass murderer will without a doubt receive a detainment sentence of 21 years. After 21 years his case will be re-evaluated if the prosecutor deems it necessary to extend the sentence (he will), and he will most likely get his sentence extended by another five years. I don't really see how this man could ever be deemed to not be a threat to society after what he did this friday.

He wanted to wage war on multiculturalism and the islamisation of Europe. He was very conserned with what he called the marxist-islamist attack on Christianity in Europe. The bastard.

Did he mention how he planned to kill four hundred thousand people? It sounds like quite a laughable goal. Somehow I doubt he had a nuclear missile; was he expecting his actions to start some sort of revolution, and that others would follow his lead?

I would say that the holding of culturally conservative views is entirely reasonable compared to what he actually did. It seems strange to me that you could stay perfectly calm while discussing the actual massacre but began calling the killer names as soon as Islamification was mentioned.

Let's not start about religious differences, shall we?

Spiral simply remarked that being concerned about the Islamisation of Europe is all but a crime.

Killing almost 100 people is, though.

@spiral: Shut up, for once. Please.

I can't remember the reportage by heart but from what I saw, he seems to have written something with 1500 pages, in which he auto-proclamates as a knight or something. He also appeared to know how to build bombs and guns.

I simply found it strange that you seemed to have a stronger reaction to his political leanings than you did to the atrocity he committed. Fine, I’ll drop it.

Because (no offense Spiral) he can be a real prick sometimes.

Other times, though, he's awesome.

...I don't want yet another arguement, I'll just say that yes, Spiral, you can. But so am I sometimes, and so is nearly everyone else sometimes, so don't take it so personally.

Now, back to Norway.
