Re: Rayman Origins
^Actually, that's not Mr. Dark. Michel Ancel said that Mr. Dark won't appear directly in the game, but the game will tell his origin. I don't even now why people compare the Dark Wizard Teensie with Mr. Dark, they don't even look similar.
Mr Dark is taller than rayman, the teensie looks diminute. Mr dark has a blue-purple coat, the teensie has a black batman-like coat. Mr Dark has big yellow eyes, a teensie usually has black eyes, and even when they didn't show his eyes, they're obviously small because the hat isn't covering anything, there's just a shadow. And finally, the evil teensie wears a big top hat, when Mr Dark's hat is much smaller and looks more like a sombrero or something like that.

Re: Rayman Origins
What about the sausage character running the snack bar that we've seen? A re-imagining of 'Eat at Joes'?

The wild? Does that mean that the game will only be available in Africa?

Re: Rayman Origins
Heh.
Have you got a link to words of Ancel saying "no Dark in here"?
I totally support your views, but I can't blame people for saying this Teens(ie/y) is Mr. Dark. He looks totally different - but nearly everything looks totally different. Betilla became less of a fairy-tale fairy and more of a fantasy fairy, Globox and mosquitoes have teeth... who knows really. And enemies seem to be based of Antitoons. So it makes some sense that Dark is a Teens(ie/y), though I suppose and hope he is not.sergiomonty wrote:^Actually, that's not Mr. Dark. Oh crap. If Joe is a sausage now, Dark may be a Teens(ie/y), Betilla may be a Hollywood actress and mosquitoes may have separate mouth - it would still make more sense. (Less "sense", though...)Paradigm wrote:What about the sausage character running the snack bar that we've seen? A re-imagining of 'Eat at Joes'?
Re: Rayman Origins
NO! Joe is an alien, not a sausage! Where will thi end Ubi!? Kidding, I like the idea.
Does anyone know if Eat At Joes is based on the american restaurant? I would send a image, but im using my 3DS

I hate to keep nit-picking, but I've just watched the following clips...

...and my goodness, what on Earth is going on with the music? I was expecting music similar to that of the first game, but it sounds like it's been ripped from a Harry Potter film. Typically some of it sounds ultra-contemporary and very orchestral, which almost seems to be the default route to take with video game soundtracks these days. It's almost too 'epic' sounding, if you know what I mean? It sounds like a film soundtrack, when really it would be better off being toned down and more like a traditional video game soundtrack. One of the best things about the first game was the music.
And also, I can't be doing with the Lums singing. When that big creature is chasing you, the dramatic music builds up and then all of a sudden the Lums start singing and it completely ruins the atmosphere. What a truly pathetic idea that was.
I've got no problems with the visuals, they look fantastic, but I really hope the soundtrack/sound effects are changed when the final game comes out.
Maybe I'm setting my expectations too high. As good as this game will be, I honestly don't believe it's capable of being anywhere near as good as the first Rayman game and I'm probably silly for thinking it ever could be. It would be nice if it came close though.

Re: Rayman Origins
Keep in mind that Christophe Héral (the composer) was brought in from the film industry back when he worked on Beyond Good & Evil.
I personally don't care whether the music is cinematic or traditional, as long as it's good. I do agree with the singing lums though, that is pretty annyoing.

I love cinematic. Mario Galaxy FTW
Re: Rayman Origins
Actually, I guess the music on the infernal kitchen level is quite good. Reminds me of some of the music from Candy Chateau, in the sense that it's very much in theme with the visuals. Hate the music on the other two levels though...

I just want the Band Land or Picture City theme, then im happy.Paradigm wrote:Actually, I guess the music on the infernal kitchen level is quite good. Re: Rayman Origins
NO, they shouldn't change the soundtrack, they will keep it like that, it's just awesome. And come on, a Harry Potter film? a stereotyped mexican theme with random background lums singing "ayayayay" and mariachis screaming as we hear plates break? yeah, very Harrypotterish. I think the music here is awesome, and I'm really addicted to the second trailer's music (the one were you can hear a great orchestral trumpets, the banjo and the violin) because is so crazy and fast passed! You can hear a shorter version of the song in the cave level with the spikes (demo), but I can't just stop being impressed.
P.D: Perhaps you may be right with the carnivorous plant level, I hate that music with drums, it sounds so weird and african, I don't know, it doesn't fit rayman.
Edit: Hey, they said there will be 12 environments around the whole game, so, how will those be like? let me count what whe have seen already
*The Wild
*The desert
*The Glaciar Cocktail
*The Infernal Kitchen (I hate lava levels, this is the FIRST ONE that I love, and ironically, is my favorite level!!)
*A budhist level (WTF)
*Ocean
*Land of the Dead (Actually not seen but obvious. There's a fossil-like level)
*A shadow level (from the first trailer, it may count as jungle)
*Moody Clouds.

Re: Rayman Origins
Moddy Clouds and that 'Budhist Level' could both be adaptations of The Band Land because there is a cloud-like part of Band Land and the same goes for those big Budhists with the bongos.

I have done more detailed exploration into the 'Dark Teensie' image and notcied a few specs. If you look closely at his eyes, you notice that he's wearing glasses, unlike Mr. Dark.
This teensie also has grey hair on the sides of his head, Mr. Dark, again, doesn't seem to have hair in any of the images we've ever seen, as sergiomonty stated before, he's wearing a really tall hat, unlike Mr. Dark. I would love the last boss to be Mr. Dark (yes I know it was stated he wouldn't be) but I'd rather have a whole different villain instead of them turning Mr. Dark into a teensie.
BTW, I love the new music, it sounds very nice.

Re: Rayman Origins
Ikke, I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of capes lying around in the Glade Of Dreams. You do raise a question though, maybe at the end this Teensie gets destroyed and Mr. Dark takes the cloak? I could imagine it! The teensie lying there, everyone's left, and all you see is a shadowy figure run past and grab the cloak, then you see Mr. Dark, he flashes his cloak over the screen and it cuts to the credits! If I were them that's what I would do!

I dunno, that seems a bit unlikely, even for Rayman.

Re: Rayman Origins
About the music, we haven't heard almost any of it. All we've heard was the music from the first, second and third trailers, and that's it. The reason why there's no music in the gameplay videos is that they took it out for the booths, because it will probably be awesome as hell and they don't wanna ruin it. About the R1 soundtrack returning, I'm pretty sure they'll put in at least one track, and it will probably be Band Land. I personally would like to hear the Woods of Light track, although that track is overwhelmingly 3Dish...
