Divulgations about Rayman
This might be an interesting topic to create now that this question came up to my mind:
Have you ever tried to divulgate Rayman's games in any way? If yes, how?
To give an example I can say that I attempted to do that to my Visual Arts class in the 11st grade. In the ending of the lective year, we had to present works in the English class to evaluate the orality, speech, work quality and other criteriums. I had no idea of what could I presentate, until I got the risky idea to present a work about Rayman's games. Since I play Rayman games in English and read informations in English, I said to myself "Why not?".
And then I presented it in a PowerPoint, without any papers to help. I also improvised the presentation since I didn't rehearsed. The classmates were neutral about my presentation, but at the same time silent. It happens that I got one of the best orality works of the class: 18 in a scale of 20 (90%, doing the maths).

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Unfortunately, I've never found the courage to share my interest in Rayman. It's not something I'm particularly embarrassed about, but it's also not something I'd be willing to shout from the rooftops about.
In fact, the idea of creating a Rayman presentation for a class of school kids is truly frightful to me.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Well, I was balanced between doing a work about it or not. But since the time was short and a good ammount of points for my final mark was in game, I took advantage of Rayman.Xenon wrote:In fact, the idea of creating a Rayman presentation for a class of school kids is truly frightful to me.
I feared the reactions, I was nervous in the first minutes but in the end it went well.
Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Back in my early days at primary school, yes. Rayman was actually quite a big thing at the time (and in particular the first game) so I could talk quite happily with friends about it. One had a copy of Rayman Gold and had no idea how to get to the event editor (neither could I at the time, it's quite hidden away
) and another was a fan of the whole series and we just used to draw Rayman pictures for each other a lot. Fun.
In secondary school though, no. I was at a girls school full of Chavettes who couldn't care less about anything that didn't have 'Facebook' or 'boys' in the name
. There was this one time where my maths teacher randomly brought up RRR though, it was funny, but I think I was the only one in the class to get it, everyone else just blanked out

Kinda sad to know about. I wonder how your maths teacher had knowledge of RRR.Electoon wrote: In secondary school though, no. Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I did and it sucked. A lot.
Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Back in primary school it kind of slipped from my mouth. Don't even remember the exact event...
Turned out some more people knew about the game series and I was happy about that fact. There wasn't much of the material about them to talk with peers, though... Sometime later I found out that one of the school computers had Rayman 3 installed and could run without CD (guess it was cracked) but the joy didn't last for too long. That computer had a really faulty hard disk... (that didn't stop my friend from getting to the end of Bog of Murk there)
On a side note, many people would just look at my drawings of Rayman (they were saying they had been looking very good.... Yeah, right...) and I once got an A grade for showing my teacher...
In the primary school I tried to hush things a little (about me being a Rayman fan) but to no avail...
Very few peers knew about the Rayman series and even fewer understood my liking...
But there were some people that would stop by just to see me drawing...
Now, in the high school, even less people know anything more than about the RRR...
I noticed that there are many peers that like my drawings, though...
Still, it isn't stopping from me being an outsider...
In all the schools I was showing the pictures I drew to my art teachers...
Since they didnt know anything about that character, they were confused about Rayman's 'traits' (just like my parents are to this day...).

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
Some of my friends hate Rayman, some love him and some don't have an opinion. It usually depends on how much I 'divulged' to them.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I was totally shocked when my relatively new classmates, for whatever reason using my mobile* to test earphones, cheered and asked whether that thing was an R1/R2 track. This happened more than once. So... well... this isn't probably telling about Rayman, but still.
*One of them later explained that my mp3 collections is "varied". It contains only of OSTs. Well.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I remember doing a presentation on Rayman Junior in primary school, but that's pretty much everything.
In fact, everyone knows I love Rayman games but, awesome as I am, I make them look so cool no one has ever thought of questioning my tastes

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
I tried to share it once or twice, but nobody knew about him. some knew about RRR, but that's it.
It seems Call of Duty is the only subject other peers can talk about. I hate Black Ops, it's very unrealistic and unoriginal. I'm not going to bother doing a PowerPoint about Rayman, nobody would like that. The fact that I used a Super Mario theme once told me enough: I'd be doomed if I ever made a PowerPoint about a game.
Perhaps this is also because mostly everyone at my school hates me for no reason. Others hate me for not being religious. And then there are those who hate me because im dutch. Can't we just live in harmony? sometimes I wonder why I ever wanted to move to the United States. im sick and tired of hearing people talk about how they are the land o' the free and the land o'the brave. Do they know that they aren't even in the top 10 free countries? I don't hate Americans, just those fools at my school thinking they know my country better than me.
I greatly recommend to never share your interest in Rayman.

Why do you hate Black Ops? Don’t condemn people for enjoying different games than you. Have you even played it? ‘Very unrealistic’? It’s more realistic than Rayman. The random paragraph about people hating you was pretty funny, especially the ‘Do they know that they aren't even in the top 10 free countries?’ part.RayTunes wrote:I tried to share it once or twice, but nobody knew about him. some knew about RRR, but that's it.

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
The difference between Rayman and Black Ops is that Rayman is based on fantasy, and and Black Ops on real life. The game isn't all that bad, but my ears desire to hear a different topic than that game.
It's true! They always complain saying my country isn't free. Yet they don't know that my country has a quite good place in the top 10. Though, some people at my school think The Netherlands is a desert without electricity. Some kids tried to explain to my brother what cars and computers are!

Talking about cars. Is there a separate word for railway cars, which may be used for both ones with people and ones with stuff?

Re: Divulgations about Rayman
A railway is a thing created with two parallel shots of something called rail gun, enabling plaid-speed transportation of stuff unless it is created in Poland, where for whatever reason velocity of things transported with them is rarely greater than 35 km/h.
