Also another thing about the new music track: expect familiarity in relation to the character being saved.

Wow, I must say, this looks really really reeaaaally good. So, all of that is inside CryEngine, correct? What part of the game is actually 3DS Max? Just the modelling and animation, or just the modelling?

No, I've said they're releasing a complete CryEngine3 to the public. Why do they do it? They've offered to help publish a user's game if it's good enough. It's a great marketing campaign and over all a win-win situation.Shrooblord wrote:I was wondering another thing. How are you actually getting CryEngine? Isn't it going to be like really really expensive to get a license from them?

The modeling is done in 3Ds Max, and the detail animations within a model (like Rayman) are also done in 3Ds Max. The rotating pianos, piano key waves, trumpet valves and trumpet poofs are done within the engine.

Over at Crymod we're guessing it might happen around the 16th-17th after GDC (Game Developers Conference) 11 when hopefully some previews will be shown, and possibly a release.

Thanks Damian! I'll also be making one for a scene after you save Joe.RayTunes wrote:That looks bloody amazing!

So if I understand this correctly you're saying I first met Globox after Rayman 1... but Globox is already in Rayman Origins, and that takes place BEFORE Rayman 1!RayFan9876 wrote:Globox - Part of Ly's resistance group, Globox is at a first impression, a fat whining dork, but proves himself with strange and lethal elemental powers. Ah, good point. I'll change it to say something like: "Before her discovery, there had been only a few and no females of Rayman's kind."The Real Rayman wrote:Wow! This game looks amazing! I'll definitely play it once it's released!

I actually wrote that before Rayman Origins was announced, so I'll have to think on this one.The Real Rayman wrote:So if I understand this correctly you're saying I first met Globox after Rayman 1... but Globox is already in Rayman Origins, and that takes place BEFORE Rayman 1!RayFan9876 wrote:Globox - Part of Ly's resistance group, Globox is at a first impression, a fat whining dork, but proves himself with strange and lethal elemental powers. Yes, the individual models were made in 3Ds Max, and the terrain is made in the engine. As for the progress, I'm going to have to redo the environments because of the engine update (the level formats aren't compatible), but I keep all my scripts and models and such. However some of the scripts need revising due to updates in relation to the way the engine reads it.. you know what I'm getting at.Shrooblord wrote:Nice concept artwork! Could you tell us all when you get the engine yourself, and tell us where you got it exactly? I've looked at the Crytek site and I must say it's got a bloody confusing layout. Also, all the information pages about the CryEngines don't work for me. My browser tells me it can't find that page, while it can find all the other pages on the site. All the pages I didn't want to see.
Oh yes, and I meant to ask: the objects in your 3D world, the piano keys and the musical notes for example, they're made in 3DS Max, right? Then what about the ground and stuff, is that CryEngine again?
Anyway, enough about that - now onwards to your game!
I'd like to ask how much of the actual game world is complete. I've seen the worlds in the videos I watched, but how much of the entire game is that? Have you got the whole game world done already, and have you just got to make cutscenes and programming and detailing, or have you got detailed areas already finished, but are there still whole worlds that need to be crafted?
I'll probably have another tomorrow.Lianna wrote:I can't wait for the more concepts!
Thanks! I haven't uploaded my own artwork or shown it to anyone for so long out of the odd occasion, but now that I think about it, I've improved drastically since a few years ago. I actually didn't notice til I just read your post.Rulez wrote:Amazing art, that Joe is cute :3

Hmm... but then what about the Musician's wife, the fat one at the beginning of the Blue Mountains? >.<RayFan9876 wrote: Ah, good point. I'll change it to say something like: "Before her discovery, there had been only a few and no females of Rayman's kind."
Ah, ok, I get it. Hmm... level formats not being compatible sounds like a complete waste of effort... that sucks. Then again, when you redo something completely, it usually turns out better than before. Yep, I get ya. Good luck with that!RayFan9876 wrote: Yes, the individual models were made in 3Ds Max, and the terrain is made in the engine. This made me think about your game, where I first meet Ly. Will she upgrade my telescopic fist from the first game to my magic fist from Rayman 2?The manuals for both The Great Escape and Revolution contain a short story detailing how Rayman came to be captured by the Robo-Pirates shortly before the beginning of the game. According to this story, Rayman lost most of his powers, including the magic fist, when the Robo-Pirates destroyed the Heart of the World. This indicates that Rayman first received the magic fist at some point between the events of Rayman 2 and the previous game, and that he was already acquainted with the ability by the time he regained it at the beginning of Rayman 2.
