I'm just stopping by thanks to matyuv who regularly sends me links to this forum, but somehow I never get around to posting a lot :p and I even see you were talking about me, lol. MandM is right though, R3 is really history for me now. I do remember playing it like 2 years ago, when I was still stuck at SBTC, the last part with the green gem (and it wasn't even with that many points I believe..) and I did give it a few more shots in comboing the gem for 7500 but really, I've tried it a couple hundreds of times probably, and I got close two or three times, but that was just too hellish and random for me...

I share your sentiments there. That's the exact reason I stopped playing a year ago, as I didn't come close once in about a hundred tries. Ultimately, the snowboarding comes down to being lucky and that sucks.

The thing in LOTLD is very simple. You just start the final combo with 1500 points more. The 1500 points for taking a green gem with a powerup don't interfere with the 100000 limit. It's nice because it doesn't make the level much more difficult (unlike SBTC or FC and all that crap).

What were your scores after each part? Did you use the Knaaren-trick in part 1? Did you take the whole secret room in part 4 in one combo? If you haven't, these might be manageable ways to improve your score.

Yeah, getting lucky is really a big part of the game sometimes. I mean, you do have to be in the right places, but even then you have to get lucky to manage a combo sometimes. The 100k limit in levels is actually pretty nice, imagine if you had to perform every combo in all those levels perfectly to get the maximum score, which might be like 140 or 150k in LOTLD that would really have been sick. Weird thing about the green gem btw, luckily i don't really care enough about it to replay the level for it

As for Desert of the Knaaren, you can win most points in the sixth part, before you enter the doctor's office. That's where you have to combo the two green gems for lots of points (it doesn't have to be done in the same combo) combined with the gems and Hoodstormers there (the other's just a matter of getting the lockjaw and comboing everything there together with the secret room, ending with the green gem).

Getting past the Knaaren in the first part is also pretty profitable, the rest of the level is pretty straightforward compared to levels like TBOM, haha...

So what's the actual maximum score in FC now? I believe I got about 42-43k, if I remember correctly. I did have ideas for like 44500 back then, but I didn't manage them at the time. I heard that like 48k is possible though?

I believe the maximum score for FC is 48.410 points, at least until someone makes new discoveries.

The extra 1.500 points in TOTLD took us all by surprise. No-one had seen that one coming. It makes the level a bit more challenging. It would be cool if you would have another go at R3. Is 1.500 extra points motivation enough for you the play again?

@Xenon: Well, I didn't make any judgements about how amazingly easy and enjoyable the ride in BOM is going to be
Also, I was rather teasing than being dead serious, because I'm pretty much aware of the fact it might take me serveral weeks until I finished torturing myself.
Furthermore, chances of me losing my desire to perfect BOM are currently increasing as well. I'm astonished by the fact that a single part has such a great influence on my motivation, since Begoniax' lover is frustating me already. At first, I need to get that excruciating Green Gem Combo right, as this stuff is required to satisfy myself and squeeze max points out of this sector (because I despise Part 6 with a passion and it's always been connected with a lotta trouble carrying out even the easiest can methods). Out of 20 attempts, I manage to do that twice, hence on a halfway-regular basis, but still dissatisfying. Then, it takes another good 4-5 minutes until I arrive at the room with the 4 gems and try to succeed in executing the Razoff-Glitch, and I highly doubt I'd need to lose any words about the frequency of failures I've already experienced concerning this bs.

Otherwise, I'm just fine
I hope you can find some motivation to improve your score then in the near future.


@Jona: Great to hear you're still alive! It's not particularly uplifting to hear you'll most likely not be active anymore, tho I can relate to your feelings in a certain way. I hope you'll participate in the discussions from time to time tho at least, despite your lack of interest in playing itself.

The Desert of the Knaaren part 4 - The Secret Room Combo

The video shows you how to combo all the gems in the secret room as well as the gems just outside the secret room. I start the combo by getting ten yellow gems before taking any red gems. At first you don't need to complicate you combo by doing that. The combo is worth at total of 14.880 points.

Very nice scores you got there, it doesn't look like you have a lot of room for improvement now... The level I can really get a good improvement on is SBTC, and maybe FC, but I'll have to learn the combos there all over again, which would take a lot of time. In fact I believe I gave R3 away to my cousins so they could have some fun with it, I really don't feel like playing it anymore. But it was fun while it lasted, and sure I'll check this topic now and then :p

You made some nice improvements, especially in FC and SBTC. I think you have some room for improvement in other levels, though. 90000+ in CF, DOTK and HH could be something to aim for.
