Missing out is purely subjective based on what one primarily counts as A) important, B) wanted. For the first possibility, I will describe a situation in which one might feel that they are "missing out" on a highly important opportunity. For example, Johnny walks down the street, foot over foot, stride upon stride, and hand crossing over hand. An entirely ambiguously dressed stranger emerging from a shop apparently selling goods walks up to Johnny, rests a hand on his shoulder, and begins to speak. He tells Johnny of a vaccine that may very well protect the user, in this case Johnny (as being directed) from obtaining cancer caused by solar UV radiation. As you can see, this would be a useful and important vaccine, especially on an extraordinarily heated day. Johnny listens and considers the strange shopkeepers offer, and considers it for a long moment. Johnny is moving around neurons in his brain, trying to connect to another and decide whether or not this could be taken as a useful deliberation of his time. While it would protect him from the harmful solar UV rays of the sun that have a chance at pleasantly presenting him with cancer, he also considers that taking this vaccine could possibly be a large waste of his previous time and money. When he reaches a conclusion, he looks at the strange shopkeeper, holds up his hand and extends his middle finger. The shopkeeper is baffled by the apparent rudeness and unconventional method of saying presenting a negative response, and extends his own arm, spreading his fingers to strike Johnny repeatedly across the face. Johnny too is startled by the shopkeeper's odd retaliation to his off-flipping that he swiftly bends down, pushing his mass into the ground, then quickly propels his foot upward, striking the shopkeeper in the testicles. The shopkeeper then lets out a shrill cry of pain as his face distorts into an agonizing expression, and he begins to collapse to the ground, unaffected by the pain of colliding with the concrete sidewalk.
