Re: Rayman 2
This stuff is amazing – great find. How many games have backgrounds like this that only get dug up twelve years after they’re released? It’s incredible. Now if we could only find the source for that rumour that the Teensies are the sons of Polokus...

Re: Rayman 2
That again was supposed to be on the old website but as it's Archive.org there's only so much it can dig up. Doh maybe I should have asked that, and everything about Rayman 2 in general for that matter, for the interview!

Re: Rayman 2
I’ve noticed that each of the site’s downloadable wallpapers (which can no longer be downloaded, and which we’ve seen already anyway) has a little paragraph next to it describing the context of the scene. This doesn’t matter much for most of them, but the descriptions actually seem to be trying to tie these images into the actual events of the game, which is particularly important for the ‘romantic’ one with Rayman and Ly on the ship. Drolpiraat has already posted another quotation which describes the same scene: it seems that Rayman and Ly were able to fight off an early pirate raid before the full-blown invasion occurred, only for them to escape in an emergency capsule (like Razorbeard’s), leaving the ship deserted.
tl;dr: Rayman/Ly is basically canon.

It was a memorable battle... finally the pirates escape from the ship in an emergency capsule. Have a glance at the most romantic wall paper you've ever seen!

No, that's not an oxymoron. Rayman makes one of his spectacular jumps and that's just for starters. More action coming soon!

How did Rayman manage to tame this missile? Try and guess. One thing is for sure, it will take him far!

As for the images, I've seen most of them before but they're still AMAZING. <3

Re: Rayman 2
I’ve added that little prelude about the pirates’ first raid to Razorbeard’s page on RayWiki. It fits quite nicely with the prologue from the manual.
Re: Rayman 2
Where did you get the shooting practice idea from?
Edit:
Edit:
Ah, but you didn't mention that one in your post, so I was confused there.
Before they to set out to pulverize their favorite targets, Razor Face and his cronies brush up on their marksmanship by shooting cannonballs at statues of Rayman. The first time they met, Razor Face wasn't crazy about the welcome he got from Rayman and his friends. So this time, he's back with his entire crew.

I included a citation in the article, which I thought would be enough to inform anyone who isn’t up-to-date on their obscure Rayman trivia.Spanex wrote:Ah, but you didn't mention that one in your post.
I just noticed something pretty strange – all but one of the six mini-stories Drolpiraat posted above are preceded by a date, but the dates are in black text and only become visible when you highlight the page (I discovered them by accident). It seems that a year in the Glade of Dreams is divided up into several ‘seasons’, each of which contains a number of ‘moons’. We also have the names of a couple of individual Robo-Pirates now.
Rayman and Clark rescue Globs.Season of Senses, 5th moon
Globox discovers his Rain Dance.Season of Blue, 1st Moon
Rayman and Ly repel the first Robo-Pirate raid.Season of Waves, 9th Moon
Rayman and a Fat Yellow Thing free some prisoners.Report 020 Z
- Agent Red-Rum-2
Someone sets fire to a Robo-Pirate installation.Report 203
-R Agent Bloutch-V1
Re: Rayman 2
I assumed Clark right away. He's not fat, though big, and he's yellow.spiraldoor wrote:Report 020 Z

Re: Rayman 2
The Fat Yellow Thing is either Clark (who isn’t fat) or Globox (who isn’t yellow... unless they changed his colour during the game’s development).
So yeah, it’s Clark.
I was reading the German version of the site a while ago, and I came across a little report written from the pirates’ perspective. It says that the Smallbeings (Teensies) are small and strange, and that they were seen gliding through the turbulent hot air or something like that. I’ll see if I can find it.

Re: Rayman 2
I also noticed something funny in the menu for Rayman 2. I accidently pressed Site Rayman 2 on the screen and it redirected to the official Rayman Origins frontpage. They must be one and the same.
Re: Rayman 2
Great job Droolie!
I knew that the fact of the slaves being planned to be sold into a galactic circus wasn't a fake memory I had. I knew I had knowledge of this somewhere from a trustable source...
Very interesting details.

Ah, no, UbiSoft updates the site in such a way that all links to old sites are redirected. I noticed the first time I pressed the button I was directed to the site for Rayman 3 - and now that's gone, it's become Rayman Origins.Spanex wrote:I also noticed something funny in the menu for Rayman 2. Funniest Robo-Pirate comment ever... even more at the top of the list than 'let's see how well you swim in molten lava' and 'oh, it's okay - it's just a big-nosed bush; open the door'.Pirate Report wrote: Despite my eagle-eyed surveillance, two entities infiltrated Detention Quarters PAF-4. A Fat Yellow Thing moved the stockpile of explosives, clearing the way for a group of prisoners, while a potato-headed eggplant smashed the lock open with his fist.
Well, this is very cool indeed. See, I knew Rayman+Ly was a real thing! Mwhah! Power to those who can spot relationships!
Lol just kidding - think what you like to think; what I just said is what I like to think.
By the way, what was the 'tl;dr:' thing? Was it a typo or is it some abbreviation to something like PS is to Post Scriptum? I like to know - for some reason those kind of things interest me.spiraldoor wrote: tl;dr: Rayman/Ly is basically canon.

Re: Rayman 2
Basically, what it means now is just "To sum that stuff up".
Re: Rayman 2
Nice, these are interesting finds indeed! (Hurray for Rayman/Ly, especially.
)
And speaking of R+L.. I remember seeing this modified version of the official concept art in my Rayman Gold disc, where Ly is actually kissing Rayman on the nose. I've always thought that this pairing was supposed to be canon because of that drawing, heh. :'D I haven't seen this picture anywhere on the internet though, and it's a shame that my current laptop refuses to boot the disc anymore.

Re: Rayman 2
My Rayman Collector has got also that footage.
Re: Rayman 2
Oh, nice! Same kind of interactive menu with moving pictures, I suppose? I used to love messing with that.
Re: Rayman 2
By the way, I have a small picture of Japanese Polokus mixing up something in a cauldron. I believe it was an artwork done at the early time he was mentioned to be a magician.

Re: Rayman 2
So is anyone going to post their weird artwork of Ly kissing Rayman or Japanese Polokus stirring a cauldron? I’d never even heard of either of those until now.
The archive has a page filled with animations and video interviews. One of them has a thumbnail whose subtitles indicate that they’re talking about the difference in environments between R1 and R2, which sounds very interesting. Unfortunately I’m not sure if it’s possible to download them. I tried, but I got tiny files that wouldn’t play in anything; perhaps someone else will have better luck.
