Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
@Jew:
If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Xenon live in Oxford?
@Shrew:
I intend use use realistically cartoony textures if you know what I mean. Some things may be completely cartoony, while other things, take mushrooms or trees as an example, would use realistic textures to portray relatability.
Look at that, 2000th reply.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
(Sorry for the double post, I'm on my BB again.)
I've come up with an updated level list:
01 - The Dream Forest
02 - Dream Forest Depths
03 - Gemstone Temple
04 - Windmill Hills
05 - Music Mountain
06 - The Ice Volcano
07 - Starlight Peak
08 - Valley of Illusion
09 - Mount Kollapso
10 - The Billowing Dunes
11 - Canyon of the Lost
12 - Aeropolis
13 - The Prison Ship
14 - Glassdrop Grove
15 - Fort Night
16 - Land of Unimportant Proportion
17 - Towering Timbers
18 - Islandale
19 - Glaciation Bay
20 - Picture City
21 - The Shrine of Myre
22 - Temporal Palace
23 - Shadow Factory
24 - Penumbra Ocean
25 - Darklands
26 - The Final Act
If you have any questions to do with certain levels or the order of them, ask away since I've pretty much explained nothing.
The following places are now separated into the different "districts" or "countries." Some are doubled, not all are sequential:
the Outlands:
06 - The Ice Volcano
07 - Starlight Peak
08 - Valley of Illusion
09 - Mount Kollapso
10 - The Billowing Dunes
11 - Canyon of the Lost
the Glade of Dreams:
12 - Aeropolis
13 - The Prison Ship
14 - Glassdrop Grove
24 - Penumbra Ocean^
the Crystal Isles:
16 - Land of Unimportant Proportion
17 - Towering Timbers
18 - Islandale
19 - Glaciation Bay
20 - Picture City
21 - The Shrine of Myre*
The Valley (within the Crystal Isles):
01 - The Dream Forest
02 - Dream Forest Depths
03 - Gemstone Temple
04 - Windmill Hills
05 - Music Mountain
20 - Picture City
21 - The Shrine of Myre**
the Darklands:
15 - Fort Night
23 - Shadow Factory
24 - Penumbra Ocean^
25 - Darklands
26 - The Final Act
Everywhere and Nowhere:
21 - The Shrine of Myre***
22 - Temporal Palace
* Is not part of the same level sequence
** Only comes into existence near the end
*** Is debatable; holds a portal to everywhere and nowhere.
^ Is crossed twice in the game: first time to reach Fort Night, second time to reach the Darklands.
Trivia: "Penumbra" is the blurred edge of a shadow, where it is neither light nor dark, but is more of a border. The Penumbra Ocean is a border between the Glade along with the rest of the world, and the Darklands, where it is undefined as being possessed by good or evil.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Can you please explain a few of the worlds for me? You know, for fan/concept art reasons. In my later portrays of excitable events in the game. Thanks.
Ok, I just would like, (if you so choose to accept your mission-LOLZ)for you to give me descriptions basically of what these worlds are:
Valley of Illusion
the Billowing Dunes
Aeropolis
The Prison Ship
Land of Unimportant Proportion
Towering Timbers
Islandale
Glaciation Bay
Picture City (I know I know, it was in R1, I'd just like to know of any differences. If existent.)
Penumbra Ocean
Thanks again.

I'm working on a novel, but I don't want to become a writer. Maybe a helper, but not a full-time thing.ikke471 wrote:So There is going to be a picture city!

@Rulez: Where did you get that picture? I've never seen it before.
And I updated the first page's characters and levels which explains most everything.

I'm trying to find a good tree-style for Glassdrop Grove, also, I have an idea for Glassdrop grove, you could have all the shards of glass reflect Rayman's face! And maybe in a cutscene (maybe at the start of the level) you could have Dark Rayman reflected in the glass as well! It could be a good thing, y'nno, having those things there like I had in Dream Forest Depths, where Rayman's lost and Dark Rayman's trying to snatch him. This would mean that Dark Rayman was trying to destroy Rayman before he reached Darklands.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
By the way, the 'surprised' Rayman pic is one of the many pictures on the rayman-fanpage.de site. Go to the English version, then Graphic and then I think Artwork. You'll find a bunch of 2D images rendered 3D-ish, including that one, which I found funny already. I also really like the concept art of Rayman holding up his non-existant arms in the mirror to look at his non-existant muscles, sad at the realisation of both.
Regarding textures:
Ah, yes, so you mean like in Rayman 2, where the trees looked quite convincingly like trees, while, for example, the lava looked like cartoony lava, though also at the same time a lot like real lava... hmm...
Regarding the rest:
All of it is looking good, as always.

Oh thanks, there's lots of 3D renders I didn't know about on there!
And yes, that's exactly what I mean.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
(Sorry double post, BB.)
I've decided to make the Dream Forest have different weathers as well, depending on where you are in the story. I've got the flowgraph written out on paper, and I'll enter it as soon as I get back home on my main computer.
I've also written a script for the introductory sequence which involves the Magician, just like in Rayman 1. I've got a pretty good voice down for him I think, although that's for me to test when I get home.

Re: Rayman 1.5: Revenge of the Dark
Nah, I just use CGA's for all my characters; I have no need for a CHR if I'm not using a rig. Using CGA's I haven't had a problem. The only thing you need to be aware of though with animated models is to make sure XForm is reset at 1,1,1 for the scale, otherwise the model with either not export or it will look messed up. What problems are you facing?that3Dguy wrote:my badRayFan9876 wrote:I've told you numerous times that I don't use a rig for Rayman, so no I don't, and I've already told you that I'll be back on the 7th.
