The world was more interconnected in the original version.
  • A secret passageway takes you from the Woods of Light to the Globox Village (and its minigames, which are woven into the story more efficiently)
  • A hidden side-path takes you from the Marshes of Awakening to the Cave of Bad Dreams
  • A side-path in the Bayou brings you to Ly, who takes you to the Walk of Life
  • A hidden tunnel in the Echoing Caves takes you to a secret area in the Fairy Glade
  • A side-path in the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava brings you to Ly, who takes you to the Walk of Power
  • The Prison Ship seamlessly connects to the Crow’s Nest; the fact that you can pause and exit to unlock the final Spiral Door is an Easter egg
Every single one of these connections was severed in Revolution.

Rayman Revolution is comparable to the Star Wars Special Edition.

As much as I love the PC version, I still have to say that Revolution remains as my personal favourite. Love the non-linearity and all the extra stuff that got added in it.

Though I have to agree that it does feel a bit unfinished/rushed.. especially because of all the bugs. (most annoying one for me has to be over-sensitivity for the controller. My left analog stick must be tilting a little because Rayman always keeps walking to the left on his own when he should be stopping.. not exactly fun when you try to make accurate jumps on small platforms. )

I love both the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 versions, but I admit that the first time I played RR, I felt lost when trying to look for the entrances of the levels I had to go. Grown with the PC version, you know.

The basic story is the same. A product is released to critical acclaim. People love it just the way it is. Then the creators decide to go back and ‘improve’ it by making a large number of additions, alterations and removals, ranging from minor to major. The result is highly controversial.

Rayman 2 on the pc is what started my love for rayman, it's why my grandparents bought me Rayman 3 (which I ended up liking more)
But seriously guys, no 3ds option

I'm gonna have to go with PC, since that's the only one I have..

I'd like to have the new 3DS version for the long trips though, but I'm unsure about how the controls will feel for me.

By the way...anyone know if there was ever a PS3 of the triology or one of them released? I heard something of an anniversary collection so I'd like to know.

I think there's PS1 versions of both R1 and R2 available on PSN. As far as I know, the Anniversary collection was only released for PC and PS2. D:

You can read my review in the GladeOfDreams blog in dA and try to think about the game.

I only have rayman revolution, but I like how it's not linear contrary to rayman 3

especially when you try to get 100%. feels more right to wander in the vast world looking for lums than just loading a previous level.

Changing Rayman 3 to French was the best decision I've ever made.

The lady in Hoodlum HQ actually sounds way hot.

I've mainly played the Dreamcast version and that's the one I've preferred after playing some of the other ports. I had the PS2 one at one point, but the frame rate was so much lower than that of the Dreamcast one which threw off my timing completely plus I wasn't all that keen on the hub world as opposed to a simple map.

3DS one was alright though had some funny little mistakes with the sound that bugged me a little, but it was still miles better than the DS version. This is one of those games that you can NOT play well with a d-pad, and that touch screen option was useless.

My favourite is the PC version. That one holds so many childhood memories.

That's why when I tried once Rayman 2 in a real Dreamcast, I was amazed how the framerate was so fluid and the controllings responded so well. No doubts it is the best version.
