:P The mosquitoes here are completely harmless, they are normal and common mosquitos that only bite random people in search of blood. Their bites only leave an unpleasant itching feeling, but they aren't fatal for our health. The itching feeling is easily solved by passing a cotton with alchool, not scratching at all or putting a special medicinal cream.
Not that I would know. I have never seen a mosquito in my life.
There aren't mosquitoes in Ireland? At least in your area? That's really strange.

Eu reparei que te referias ao Bzzit ou ao Moskito, mas desde que não voltes a repetir o mesmo erro, a equipa de administração não vem ter contigo. ;)

That's one of those moments when I find it easy to confuse. In Polish we have two words - ''komar'' is just a regular mosquito which bites for blood and that itches, the end. ''Moskit'' however, is one of those quite deadly which give diseases.

I thought they were exclusively tropical insects. And they definitely do transmit malaria, or at least some species do; check Wikipedia.

The mosquitoes aren't exclusively tropical insects and decease spreaders, and I know about the Malaria Mosquitoes so it wasn't necessary for you to show me a Wikipedia article. There is also the Dengue one, but fortuneatly in my geographical area the mosquitoes are completely harmless. I was only saying that your statement was silly because if we had Malaria mosquitoes here, I would have been dead since a very long time and probably almost the entire country.

Everyone in Holland would be dead or dying.

Well, Spiral, you don't usually see mosquitoes anyway; they tend to flash out of existance when you look at them. I know that sounds strange, but what they do is they turn their bodies in such a way that they reflect some light towards you, then accelerate to great speeds to prevent from being caught by a potential predator (you). This makes it looks like they flash briefly before they disappear. They also make the most annoying of whiney buzzing sounds and tend to keep you from sleeping when one is in your room. If you are the sort to squash them, you'll probably find a nice stain of someone's blood on your wall the instant after you do. For the rest, I don't really give a monkey's about mosquitoes. As long as they don't bite me, I have no quarrel with them.
Oh, and then there's the tiny ones that swarm around in clouds and dance around each other almost like in a ritual. They're cool to watch.

Yeah, I thought mosquitoes were common in everywhere in the world? They're in Finland too, the same type of harmless ones that only leave an itchy bump on your skin for a few days.

We should make an English word for the regular, not-deadly mosquito. ''Comar'', is that subtle enough?

Sounds a bit too much like 'coma' though; so I think most people would link it to nasty more quickly than they would link mosquito to nasty.

Let's go literal then. How do you pronounce "Komar"?

Well, kinda like 'coma' but then with an r. So, like saying the name 'Omar' with a C in front. It's probably a wrong pronounciation, but hey, I'm not Polish.

Let’s call them ‘combers’. It sounds cool.

It does, actually. Watch out for the combers, Billy! They'll give you nasty little itchy spots.

No, combers sound like midway between "cucumbers" and "combustible". Hey, not a bad idea. Perhaps nobody has recently came up with idea of combustible pl-

I envy you, spiraldoor. I can't go outside late at night because of those things. Not to mention Slenderman is watching me.

Recently, I woke up in the middle of the night so itchy that I couldn't go back to sleep. I was covered in bites. I used both my hands and my teeth to scratch. It was completely harmless, though. The itching stopped after a few days.

I looked at this topic thinking it was about what you would do if you saw the boss in real life.
