Re: Rayman (1.5): Revenge of the Dark
It's a few gigs big, MDT. And not that I should encourage lying, but if you want it, you can just tell the Autodesk site you're from 1984 (intentional year of reference is intentional) or something.
The music sounds great, Rayfan!
And great, Spanex, that it turned out to not be that big a deal in the end. Needles, yauch! But still, better than you had expected, right?
So, Rayfan, I meant to ask, to try and see if I can even get started on my own game psychologicly - where do you work on when you're working on level progress? Is it plotting out exactly how everything should look, or is it just thinking of what should basicly happen in a level? Right now, I have plotted out the levels of 1/3 of the game completely - that means that I've described what the rooms will look like, what puzzles Rayman must conquer and what challenges he will face. Is this how you do it too? Just curious - dat's all.
Also, how do you code? Do you do it inside Cry or do you make your codes externally? If externally, is the testing progress slow because you have to re-import your code into the engine to see it work?
And one more thing, how do you make your music? I've got a keyboard with MIDI to hook up to my music program (which is seriously outdated and underdevelopped in comparisson to Logic).

Re: Rayman (1.5): Revenge of the Dark
I do the second one you mentioned: I plan the events for what happens in the level and build around that.
For coding I use both a visual flowgraph/coding system within the engine and some minor external LUA edits. Drolpiraat agreed to help me with C++ soon. For LUA the engine automatically updates it in real-time, but for C++ I must restart it.
For the music I only use a keyboard if necessary, but usually I click in the notes myself. I even clicked in the notes without a lkeyboard in the Music Mountain piano solo (the Band Land thing) because it was a small part. For things like The Crying Moor's ambience track (part 19) I used a keyboard.

Pff, you think that's a long time? You must be new to mass torrent downloading. Plus if it were smaller it wouldn't be as good.beebo44 wrote:I wish 3DSMax was smaller. It'll take foreva for me to download it. (About 5 hours.)
