Re: Gadaffi is dead.
Gaddafi sure was a tyrant, but I fear that Islamists take over the country now, just like the Shah of Iran was overthrown by Khomeini, who turned the country into one of the most appalling examples of political and cultural obscurantism. The same threat weighs on Tunisia now that Ben Ali has left the country, on Egypt with Mubarak's resignation and possibly on Syria if Al-Assad loses too.
Re: Gadaffi is dead.
Just like Hunch I have very little confidence in the future of those countries. They might be jumping out the frying pan into the fire.

He may have deserved to die but how they treated him and his corpse was just in-humane.

What alternative do you suggest? Do you think they should have been gentler and more considerate while they killed him? Smothered him with velvet cushions?beebo44 wrote:He may have deserved to die but how they treated him and his corpse was just in-humane.

Re: Gadaffi is dead.
I heard he was beaten to death, not sure I wanna know though.
Re: Gadaffi is dead.
From what I've learnt in the news on TV, he was already injured in the hand and he was about to go to an ambulance. However, he passed through a crossed firing (from the rebels I think) and one bullet hit his head, which caused his death. When he arrived to the hospital, he was already lifeless.

Re: Gadaffi is dead.
This means bad news for Israel. If Assad is taken down and the same happens in Jordan, Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood are left in a position of power in the Muslim/Arab world. I must say, this is an interesting year for Israel. First, the two states idea (still in debate in the UN), then Gilad Shalit's freedom and now this.
Edit: This topic reminds me of something: we've got this guy in school whose last name's Kadari, and we always call him Kadaffi (Gadaffi's name in Hebrew). The day Gadaffi died, Kadari didn't make it to school. We obviously joked around that he had died ("Kadaffi's absent coz he's dead!"), how couldn't we...? Now that I think about it, I haven't seen him since

Well that certainly is interesting, but I'm sure it's a coincidence.

Re: Gadaffi is dead.
Are you referring to the first part? Because that's certainly no coincidence. All the riots are mostly stirred by the Muslim Brotherhood, especially in Egypt. And I seem to remember someone saying that Ahmadinejad supports the people of these countries.RayFan9876 wrote:Well that certainly is interesting, but I'm sure it's a coincidence.

No, I was actually referring to the second part.iambored2006 wrote:Are you referring to the first part? Because that's certainly no coincidence. Ah. It turns out he's in America. Lucky bastard.
And I think beebo meant to say 'probably'.

Also iambored, have you been to other countries? If so, what countries have you been to? I'm just curious.

I should probably post this in the designated topic, but since you asked me here:
Israel, obviously
England, for two years
maybe Scotland and Ireland, I'm not sure
France
Switzerland
Italy
Spain
Portugal
Czech Republic
India.
