Re: Rayman 1
I see...
Not too shabby in my opinion, though perhaps a little more depth into the story itself may present for a larger and more thorough read.

Re: Rayman 1
Drawings for a comic you mean? I'd like to help out, maybe - would get my Rayman style up a notch too.
I have a tip for your friend's writing style too. It's not as much of a help with the writing itself, it's more of a punctuation thing. I'd advise him/her/them/it to cut down on the amount of exclamation marks (!) used; that would make them stand out more in the few occassions that they are used.
Now for the text itself. I liked it - it was nice to read about the bad guy's motives and thoughts. I liked the parallellisms between the paragraphs, though maybe there were just a tad too many of them, causing it to look like a template was used to write each paragraph. For the rest, quite nicely done - write a bit more of it and you'll become a good writer, Raymanarenaps2's friend.

Re: Rayman 1
By the way everyone, I was just browsing the Ubisoft FTP server as I normally do (ever since lots of stuff was leaked on it), and I found what is possibly the biggest and cleanest version of the Rayman 1 cover.
http://ftp.ubi.com/ca/HS/25th%20Anniver ... 0Cover.jpg
What is more interesting though, is the stuff that is written in the blue lights at the top, around the logo. It's the first time I notice this. I wonder what it is?
It seems to be another image that is blended with the cover. It's there too in the PS1 cover on RayWiki but since that has a smaller size, it shows a different part of it.

Re: Rayman 1
Yet another mystery that has eluded us all these years, the large cover one looks a bit like a Henchman's head.
The PS1 version, no clue.

Re: Rayman 1
It definitely says something about Mr Dark: if you combine the two images, you can clearly see the letters ‘D’, ‘A’ and ‘K’, with a partially-obscured ‘R’ in the third place. You can also see what appears to be one of Mr Dark’s eyes – the little notch is quite distinctive. I’ve always thought Rayman was bursting through a brick wall covered in Mr Dark graffiti/propaganda – perhaps the same wall seen on the Continue screen. There are thematic echoes of BG&E.
If you look closely at the two covers, you’ll see that the background images are identical: the only difference is that the PS1 cover is cropped and has the logos rearranged. The fact that it was even possible to rearrange the logos means that the cover started as a clean, logo-free piece of artwork, which is probably lying in a vault somewhere in Ubisoft Montpellier. I want it.

Re: Rayman 1
Perhaps we should humbly ask/beg Michel to share his treasure trove of magnificence with us, we'll be bound to see alot of unused stuff there.
Re: Rayman 1
You're right, it could be some kind of grafitti. Also, is it just me or is "DARK" written in the same font, or a font similar to the one used for the Rayman 2 logo? I was immediately reminded of it when I saw it.spiraldoor wrote:It definitely says something about Mr Dark: if you combine the two images, you can clearly see the letters ‘D’, ‘A’ and ‘K’, with a partially-obscured ‘R’ in the third place. I can't seem to open the link - it four-oh-four's on me. Tried replacing the spaces with underscores, tried googling, etc. etc. still no results. Is anyone else having this problem?Drolpiraat wrote: http://ftp.ubi.com/ca/HS/25th%20Anniver ... 0Cover.jpg

Re: Rayman 1
Look closely at the brick on the bottom left. It’s got ‘M + A’ carved into it. I was actually looking for the artist’s signature, but that’s a damn weird way to sign your name, with a plus in the middle – a type of graffiti used exclusively by couples. Maybe it’s not the artist’s name – maybe it stands for ‘Michel + Alexandra’? I think I remember seeing the exact same message carved somewhere else, maybe in another game, but I’m not sure.

You're right, the file has been removed from the server and I was stupid enough not to save it. :/Raymanarenaps2 wrote:Me.Shrooblord wrote:I can't seem to open the link - it four-oh-four's on me. That would be awesome. I love making putting hidden messages like that in everything I make myself.spiraldoor wrote:Look closely at the brick on the bottom left. It’s got ‘M + A’ carved into it. Re: Rayman 1
I did. Do you think it was taken down because someone at Ubisoft noticed that it was suddenly being accessed by numerous outsiders?Drolpiraat wrote:You're right, the file has been removed from the server and I was stupid enough not to save it. :/

I don't know why, but I'm still accessing the image, I'm not sure if it's some special feature of Chrome.

That’s just because your browser has cached it.

Ah, ok, I'll save the cover anyway, just in case anything happens.
EDIT: I was looking at the image again, and I noticed another hidden snippet:

Re: Rayman 1
Is it just me, or does the version of the image that I uploaded have a lower resolution and less compression artefacts? That’s really strange, as I didn’t edit the image in any way – the two should be identical.
Edit: I had the previous version cached, so here it is. Not sure what’s going on.
http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q388 ... Cover2.jpg
Edit 2: Master4lyf1 – the hidden word is definitely ‘Rayman’, and the image under it is Rayman’s face. You can see this more clearly if you compare the covers of both the PC and PS1 versions. Looks like we’ve got opposing Rayman and Mr Dark posters on this wall. Sound familiar?

Re: Rayman 1
Yeah I noticed the hidden text beneath the brick wall while looking at the PS1 cover a few years ago. I always assumed it was a newspaper article about Rayman and Mr. Dark, and have wanted to see the whole thing since
. Also while looking at the HD cover, i spotted 'M+A' etched into the brick on the bottom left...

As I said, nobody signs their name like that. The ‘intial + inital’ format is used by couples, not individuals.Greenbottle3 wrote:Michel Ancel.Electoon wrote:i spotted 'M+A' etched into the brick on the bottom left...
