I still didn't get to play it as much as I hoped due to being in the comic village [aka the selling tables] but I'm really impressed for the most part. It DOES get brutal though, like for example I tried playing this level that had Helena Headbasket in a darktoon, and it was in a Mystic Peaks level that had all vines coming out of the walls and stuff, but I couldn't finish it because I can't figure out out to float in an air current and I kept dying there.

We've gone a bit nuts though...

Also the only names of other levels I can remember really was "Dashing Thru the Snow", not sure if that's the one with Helena though. I could have just had it to myself and gone through the level names but it was rather crowded at its peak and everyone was just picking whatever.

The level names don't sound particularly good so far. 'Dashing Thru The Snow'? That's terrible!

At least the world names are still as good as ever. And let’s face it, ‘The Bayou’ and ‘The Canopy’ weren’t exactly top-notch either.

I don't know why are you complaining about the names of the levels, what do you except them to be named like? "the epical journey through the dangerous and magical stormful mountain" or something like that?

The first rayman game, now that's a clear example of lack of creativity with names, mostly with characters.

Mr. Stone? The Magician? Mr. Sax? Mr. Dark? Joe?!
and Rayman too... geez, he has no "ray" power... and isn't even a "man".

It looks like they took a basic english dictionary and put random basic words in the game. Is good to know that they changed everything in rayman 2.
In rayman origins it is more acceptable to call him "rayman" because he runs fast as a ray and can do the wall-run like Fancy Pants. If someone gets rageful about my comment, think about it again: I'm talking about the names, not about the franchise, and it's MY OPINION. Just saying, because I know someguys that may...uhm... "quote me"

P.D: Copterman, now that's a good name for rayman! :hinhin:

Rayman 3 slightly improved though. Count Razzof, Begoniax, The Knaaren. And worlds like 'The Bog of Murk' and 'The Tower of Leptys' were also very creative.

Happy Halloween for everyone who's celebrating it, I don't, but still, my point stands.

Also, I have no problem with the names of the levels. if you think about it, lotsa-ther games aren't creative with names either. Take Pokemon for example! Basically all the names of all the Pokemon are two or more words put together! Even the cities! Cerulean, Lavendar, Pallet? Really, you guys shouldn't worry too much about the names of the levels, they don't effect gameplay.

Well they at least have some sort of a catch to them. These Rayman Origins level names seem to be rather uncreative when it comes to utilizing the English language. "The Bayou" and "The Canopy" at least are to-the-point and use rather unconventional words yet are slick sounding. "Dashing Thru The Snow" is just a plain rip off of Jingle Bells with an ugly shortening of the word "through" to "thru," and others like "Moody Clouds" and "Infernal Kitchen" just don't sound elegant at all. Usually names sound the best when they don't have the actual subject in the title, especially in its most common form like the words "clouds" and "kitchen." Maybe something along the lines of "Temper of the Tempest" and "Pots and Pans and Brothy Lands." Mind you those are just mediocre examples that come to mind but you get the idea. I really think this game needs names more along those lines to fit the storybook style of the game.

With the Pokemon reference above, that's not so much a problem because they're a simple set of names that easily blend into the game's style. Besides the Pokemon had quite creative names, as they were almost all a bunch of plays on words. Take Bulbasaur for example. It's both clever and it rolls off the tongue nicely while sounding like its own word. Take Cerulean City. It's alliteration at its finest. I find the whole colour spectrum system of the major locations simple and quite pretty, as well as all the professors being named after trees. Another thing that adds to it is that they don't emphasize the names' meanings in any way other than it being the name of something. If we were to turn Saffron City into the current Rayman Origins scheme you might as well call it Yellow City.

These current names are almost seemingly an insult to the rest of the game in terms of creativity.

I'm with RayFan on that one. I actually find the names from the original game charming and poetic, but most of them actually refer to a place, which is not the case for Rayman Origins levels. “Dashing Thru the Snow” isn't the name of the place, unlike “Anguish Lagoon” and “Twilight Gulch”; sure, we have “Allegro Presto” and “Pencil Pentathlon” which are more action-oriented names, but not only are those far more poetic, there are only a couple of them in the whole game. So yeah, I'm a bit disappointed with the level names so far; fortunately, the names of the worlds are slightly better (not that the Desert of Didgeridoos and Moody Clouds are particularly inventive but at least they refer to a place).

I agree that the names of the levels are bad, but you’re being too harsh on the names of the Origins worlds. ‘Moody Clouds’ has a poetic quality and evokes images of a brewing storm, while ‘Infernal Kitchen’ accurately describes the hellish culinary world, and ‘Land of the Livid Dead’ is as great as always. ‘Jibberish Jungle’, ‘Desert of Didgeridoos’ and ‘Sea of Serendipity’ may not sound particularly beautiful, but they continue the tradition of alliteration and are highly memorable and distinctive. Don’t forget that R1 also had some less-than-stellar names, like ‘Blue Mountains’ and ‘Hard Rocks’.
