Gamepro - 4.5/5
Joystiq - 5/5
Nice, let the good reviews continue to come, they are a testament to the absolute brilliance of Rayman Origins.
Joystiq - 5/5

Re: Rayman Origins
I can add that both Gametrailers and GameInformer gave the game a 8.5. That's all still above the 8 out of ten prediction from Haruka. I knew this game is great.Master4lyf1 wrote:Gamepro - 4.5/5

BTW, demo is awesomme. I have all nine electoons but does that also unlocks the red Globox skin in the full game or do you have to re-unlock it again?

Re: Rayman Origins
It does not matter, the opportunity to survey the game for ourselves prior to it's launch should be satisfying enough.ikke471 wrote:You will have to re-unlock it!

I envy the skills of some of the players here...Rayfist090 wrote:alright! 0:36 im about caught up with rayman3ds, I need to get to 0:35 now

Gaaw, they pull the avarage score down. We need a random Italian site to give it another 9.5:Janic wrote: I can add that both Gametrailers and GameInformer gave the game a 8.5.

But the good score is appreciated.
I'm still trying to get over the mind-boggling revelation that IGN of all reviewers, gave Origins a 9.5.

It's just something I found on Metacritic, didn't see any other reviews there but that and the IGN one.

Re: Rayman Origins
They see that as a problem? I love that kind of stuff.GameInformer's review wrote:One of the only big problems I had with the game is how it blocks the end-game content until you’ve collected enough Electoons to pass. These smiling orbs are the game’s currency, earned by finding hidden stashes and picking up a variety of collectibles scattered throughout the world. If you don’t make collecting them a priority from the start, you may find yourself grinding earlier levels like I did.
I actually plan on deliberately rushing through the levels and avoid secrets at first, then come back to each level later and find every cage that I missed. It's the same way I play Rayman 2.

I like backtracking, with more powers, and more abilities, it makes levels more fun to traverse, since you have a new-found mastery over it because of abilities gained.

Re: Rayman Origins
Excactly. When you go back to previous levels and find that there's much more to them than you thought, it practically doubles the game's value imo. I agree that backtracking can be bad at times, like when you simply have to play through the same level several times with little to no change, but this is the good kind of backtracking!Master4lyf1 wrote:Done it for every Rayman game, and for Origins too.El Dango wrote:They see that as a problem? Re: Rayman Origins
Same here. But for me, I don't do this only with the Rayman games, I do it with others too. I play through the game first, then I go back and try to get the bonuses and everything else.El Dango wrote:They see that as a problem? I love that kind of stuff.![]()

Re: Rayman Origins
So:
10/10 - GameFan
9.5/10 - Nintendo Power, IGN, Random Italian Website
9/10 - Official PlayStation Magazine (USA)
8.5/10 - GameTrailers, GameInformer
4.5 stars - GamePro
5 stars - Joystiq
I've just read this month's issue of the gaming magazine I usually buy here, and they wrote a preview about RO. The redaction has got high expectations and they will review the game in the next issue.
I smell another big score!
This month's issue also lists suggestions for Xmas gifts, and among them there is Rayman Origins!

Re: Rayman Origins
Another vote for backtracking. If you did everything in one go, it would be boring.

Re: Rayman Origins
[So... now that you know the truth about the spoiler, could you give us some indication of what sort of twist it is? Does it play a major role in the story, and is it as crushing as some of us have postulated? Are you happy with how it turned out?]Drolpiraat wrote:(I didn't post any major spoiler I read - I now know the truth about the spoiler we've been discussing. Some of us may have been close to the truth, but nobody has nailed it yet. )
And have you found out anything about the chronology of the game? The [Tarayzan] quote you posted (if it was a quote) seems to suggest it’s a sequel.
