Re: Rayman Origins
I'm starting to really, really, really loathe the word boon. Where's it from, anyway?spiraldoor wrote:The guy who recorded that playthrough is a massive boon for not jumping on the Magician’s hat once the way to the Land of the Livid Dead had been opened. He’s bound to say something interesting. (I suppose it’s possible that, like Rayman 2, Rayman Origins doesn’t save once you finish the game, and that the Moody Clouds has therefore not yet been completed by the time Rayman reaches the Land of the Livid Dead. Maybe you get a different ending (with the cut dialogue) if you go to the Moody Clouds after finishing the Land of the Livid Dead?)
It'd be completely ridicidonkey to implement the feature you mentioned in RO. I remember this being the case for Tonic Trouble and how I got mad when I realized that!
Re: Rayman Origins
I think it's because he actually is a coward. In Rayman 1 he just sent mash-ups of other bosses and then ran away. Here he [trapped the heroes and forced them to fight gigantic robot versions of some of the bosses. Then he tricked them by dancing to get away quickly and silently].

Re: Rayman Origins
but ( he has magic in rayman 1 but in origins it seems he has lost his magic )
Re: Rayman Origins
People get old when they age.
People get weaker when they get old.
Could be the same for [Teensies].

Re: Rayman Origins
Maybe Darks magic from the first game came from the Protoon he stole, without it, his abilities are hindered.

Re: Rayman Origins
^ I liked that answer.
2.If he's the real Mr dark, he didn't use his magic spells because he got weakened from his last battle with rayman in rayman 1. If the magician turned into a new Mr Dark as spiraldoor and me said, then it's obvious to say that he's not as powerful as the real Mr Dark(R.I.P), but he uses the same strategy: previous boss battles. The only difference is that Mr Dark used hybrids, while the magician uses robots.)
(1.He's a normal teensy, he can't fly, he just hovers, so he uses a machine to fly.ikke471 wrote:i'm kinda confused ( why does mr.dark needs a machine to fly? and why doesn't he attacks rayman?)

Re: Rayman Origins
Spiral & everyone else: [Just how do you know the Magician was Mr Dark all along, and not just in this game? The line that says "I always wanted to be like Mr Dark" is in a text block with lines like "No rest for the wicked...I mean the weary!!", "Ha-ha! Rayman IS as dumb as he looks!", "Try and catch me now!" etc.
I don't think Bubble Dreamer says anything like this. Besides, all the Bubble Dreamer's comments on skins are grouped together and this is not one of them.
The one for the Magician/Mr Dark skin is this one:
"I remember you... Ales Mansay, right?
You stunk at magic.
Did the other Teensies tease you?
No reason to lose your sense of humor... Hahaha...Gulp. Or is it...?"
That means the following line:
"I always wanted to be like Mr. Dark: mysterious, dark!...um, dark and mysterious.. " probably means the Teensie is not the Mr Dark from Rayman 1.
Fun fact: knowing how the "language" from Rayman Origins is formed, his name, Ales Mansay, comes from the word "Salesman" - which is exactly the attitude the Magician has in Rayman 1 and the beginning of Origins.]

uhm....
spiral said that ( mr.dark was the magician all along not vice-versa and this would also make much more sense to me tbh )

Re: Rayman Origins
OK, I am like completely confused like now. I hope the final game will explain it better, and we get to some sources about those possibly scrapped lines.

Drolpiraat – [Since the Magician and Mr Dark look quite different, I assumed that we might unlock separate Magician and Mr Dark skins, much the way we can unlock separate red and blue Globox skins. This would allow the Bubble Dreamer to give different responses to both the Magician and Mr Dark, since the Bubble Dreamer doesn’t necessarily know they are the same character. As for that block of dialogue, I’m not convinced that it was all supposed to be spoken by the same character. Consider this exchange:
‘No! It's Mr. Dark! Ah ha ha! Yes. Tremble you silly creatures! Order! Reason! The very words are lost on you pea-brained peons! !Oh! The bad guy! It's a Teensy! "Boo hoo hoo. It was me. Yes. One gave me singing warts and ten-foot toenails that kept growing back...! This is the end of magic! Disappear, fairy dust! Boo! You're always smacking each other around anyway...);To be fair, you made it easy...! (or you're very guillible) And nobody ever wanted to share my Boogers on a Stick! No worries. I'm here to help! The magician, Mr. Dark, Teensy Whoever!...He's getting away!’
As you can see, it’s not a monologue – there are other characters pitching in with talk about toenails and boogers, which I don’t understand at all. Maybe it’s not the Magician, but some other character who says that they always wanted to be like Mr Dark? Maybe the dialogue is from an earlier version of the scene where different characters are present? Who knows? I really wish we’d asked the developers what on earth is supposed to be going on in The Reveal.]
Is there anyone here who can actually understand Pig Latin? It would be great if someone could listen to the sound files relating to this scene and determine which lines are spoken by which characters once and for all.

Has the full gamerip been posted?
Re: Rayman Origins
There is none yet, I'm still making it.Confusious wrote:Has the full gamerip been posted?
@spiral: Good point, but I have good reason to believe that [lines used in cutscenes are grouped together by scene, but lines used outside of cutscenes are grouped together by the character that says them (the Bubble Dreamer lines, for example). I think the lines in that group are from when you jump on the Magician's, or Ales Mansay's hat. I've already heard "A fool's quest!", "Stop the silliness! Quit joking! Get serious!" in the game, they're from when you jump on the Magician's hat in the first level of Desert of Dijiridoos.
However, the "Bene! Grazie mille!" between those lines contradicts the theory that normal lines are grouped together by character - as that's spoken by the chef from Gourmand Land. Still, it's pretty weird that that's the only one in that group that's not from the Magician, and that that would be the only Bubble Dreamer quote outside of his "dialogue group".]
Also, I just found out that those gibberish characters you deleted from the script actually meant something - they are references to the sounds that play when spoken. At the bottom of the script file is a list of all the voice sounds in the game. After that is one gibberish character - the next ones are ones that you should copy if you want to see where the sound is played. So I guess that way you can find out which sound files are played when.
There's not enough sounds for everything though, so either they scrapped those lines or they play them without sound.
