No, Hoodlums' Revenge. A follow-up to R3's story on GBA, which is isometric. Quite a lot of fun ideas were there as long as I remember (I don't have it) and idea for the final boss is something just... radical enough for Rayman game, unless you scroll through story. It may look like Reflux, but it is GMO Globox under Andre's control...

But Razorbeard didn't appear there, thus I'm right and you are thus wrong.stan423321 wrote:No, Hoodlums' Revenge. A follow-up to R3's story on GBA, which is isometric. No, this discussion is about returns of villains in general, thus you are wrong and I am right.

I mean they all are individualistic master minds. They would simply kill each other if they were to join someone's plan to destroy rayman.
I was fixing the mistake here.

This way we could argue normal R3 features Razorbeard. Andre's presence is indeed possible, but he wasn't notable in any way.

Re: Future Rayman games
I just realized that with Rayman Origins, all four major Rayman villains have returned at least once.
Actually, this was true even before RO if you count the edugames.

Re: Future Rayman games
Well, you are... absolutely right. I wonder whether Ubi will come up with a new villain soon... and with what, obviously. Powerful ancient civilization? Unbelievably abused individual? Random thing from space? Zombie fairies/Globoxes? Rayman?
Re: Future Rayman games
I'm a bit confused here. Are we sharing our ideas of storylines for new Rayman games or are we arguing over whether or not there will be another game after origins and which enemies will return?
I have a storyline for a Rayman game in my head but it kinda goes against the 'unique one-of-a-kind Rayman not being created by Polokus' thing.

Re: Future Rayman games
I don't think rayman was completely a 'Polokus made thing'. He was made by the fairies... but he's so unqiue compared to the rest of the world. Like, he's the only brave one, he now limbs, he's one of a kind, etc.
Anyway, one thing I would like, is to have a proper Rayman Beginings; and maybe call it 'rayman -1' or 'rayman beginings'. Explaining, the REAL way rayman was formed, what he did as a child. Where did he originally live/reside. What challenges did he face there?
That's something I would really like to see from Rayman!!! Because, let's face it... Rayman is awesome, and there can never be enough!!!

Re: Future Rayman games
Nah. Rayman would CERTAINLY work as an RPG. The storylines are rather....not entirely connected so that expansion of things could be elaborated for a game (in other words the story isn't so rigid that it'd be hard to convert mechanics-wise). I've seen a few forum-based RPGs with Rayman so the interest is there amongst those who do crave a deeper connection to characters and story and have a greater attention span. It'd just depend on the developer to stick true to the general roots of Rayman whilst creating it, which wouldn't be very difficult to do considering the mechanics of how Rayman has worked in previous games. I can't see it as anything other than an action/adventure RPG or Platform RPG though.
I'd actually like to see one made so that the world/story actually pulls together and makes SENSE as well as has better character development. (Only because I love a game for its story/characters)
After all RPG only really mans it has a deep, engrossing storyline in which the player has direct influence over a characters action through a set of decisions and rules as the story unfolds, determining how a character/s develops. Platform games and RPGs work very well together hand-in-hand because of the broad spectrum of mechanics in RPG genre, making it highly variable and able to be merged with just about any other genre of game out there. So yeah. Don't know what all thats about. XD (Unless people keep thinking in terms of turn based battles, skill leveling, etc. but those are only elements of the 'classic' sort of RPG, not what an RPG IS)
An MMORPG could work the same way and might be even better suited to the Rayman universe given its lose ends and whatnot. Because MMORPG's often lack structured in-game storylines/character development in the sense of single-player RPGs. In that way it would even more resemble the original game(s) (i.e. unlocking trophies/quests/levels/area) instead of having a character centric story, it is based more on stats development and unlocking new things as a player gets more deeper involved.
It would all depend on the targeted people. People are going to hate everything and like everything. Lots of people HATE origin, lots of people love it. Simple fact of targeted audience, there. But there's a base for it, if someone ever does give it a go.
Nuff said on that.
On future rayman games/fangames/etc.
I don't see many Rayman fangames I like. Most of them hash up the same concepts over and over or something from what all I read in the past weeks or two. Or are just clones of the games already there. There are a few that seem interesting that I will possibly try if they ever release (due to even though some the games may have similar 'this bad gyu returns' concepts, the said games I'm interested in have unique new features I don't see in every OTHER fangame), but most I'll run from XD
My experience with rayman fangames recently:
"Oh noes evil (insert villain from previous game) has returned and (insert the same thing they did previous game) again! Its up to Rayman to stop them! Old levels are returning! *insert the same exact kind of gameplay and levels with barely anything changed at all* Old characters are returning! *insert chaarcters that do the exact same thing as they did on the old games, no change whatsoever or addition to storyline* And a new character! *insert mary sue/gary stu character of extreme new main character syndrome proportions* GO SAVE THE DAY!"
Yeah. ^^;
As for new Rayman world based game.......
I'd personally like to play a game where I can be an evil person instead of Rayman over and over again. Have Rayman as a nice little boss. Maybe a game to where I can be the evil badguy to designs the traps and deploy minions to kill Rayman as he's advancing towards me? Along with some platforming goodness in there as it's core, and lots of uberaction. me likes action. I, being an RPG fan, also like to have some sandboxy side-quests/adventures to enhance the story/characters. Throw me some of that in there along with oldschool mechanics, with shakin' up some new concepts and I'm sold. So maybe they'll make something like that one day. i doubt it though. XD Good games usually only come from smaller indie devs these days anyhow <_<..... Sandbox games are quite fun in a platform environment. Old school charm + direct player influence over their world/story flow = epick for the win.

Holy bujeesus, you have a talent for making ridiculously posts constantly! Nonetheless, your ideas are very interesting and original. I guess we can expect it from possibly the oldest active member of the board.

Re: Future Rayman games
What we know is, is that Rayman was created to combat Polokus's first nightmare: Jano, and also to amuse him "with his heroic antics"maxxyboy1000 wrote:I don't think rayman was completely a 'Polokus made thing'. The lack of lums from when the nymphs lost them is the reason why he has no limbs.
Perhaps a game could be made out of this first adventure, but, sometimes, it's best left untouched.
Re: Future Rayman games
I'd personally love a
-Rayman M sequel/remake with characters and places from all games, and a story mode
-Rayman 1 remake in UbiArt
-Platformer game with rabbids; something like RRR (GBA) but on a current-gen console
Though i'd be okay with everything as long as it's something new

Re: Future Rayman games
You know, i wouldn't mind if RAYMAN was captured and you'd have to play as lets say.... betilla or globox for example like in RO!
it could start with a baddie kidnapping rayman, strapping him into a machine and entering rayman into a dream world thus distracting rayman so in the REAL world, the baddie could kill rayman and drain all his power!!! >:D ...
if you seen Ben 10 when you was younger you'd understand, its a machine which makes the person think everything is good and ok BUT really its not.

I really hope the developers don’t use any of the ideas expressed in this thread.

Re: Future Rayman games
Rayman games aren't much about story, so I don't see the point of elaborating it further than Origins has. What Rayman is really about is platforming, mostly the action-based kind, and there's no reason it shouldn't stay that way. Because of this, I don't see the Rayman series ever working as an RPG, not even a semi-RPG.Kurui wrote:Nah. Rayman would CERTAINLY work as an RPG. I don't want RPG elements in a platformer either, that's more likely to fail than to succeed, plus that might mean the game would count as a main installment in the series.
If a Rayman RPG will ever be made, at least let it be some kind of obscure spin-off such as Rayman Bowling, and not a hyped-up, massive installment that's supposed to go alongside the real series.
