But the name Teensoudini is never used anywhere in the script, except in the one moment where he escapes and Bubble Dreamer comes up with it in reference to this. But he doesn’t escape at all in the final game – he gets blown up, not imprisoned. Anyway, the skin has been scrapped, so the exchange where he’s compared to Houdini doesn’t even occur. On the other hand, the script does call him ‘the magician’ twice. Another part of the script confusingly identifies him as Alles Manray (this isn’t a spoiler, because it’s been scrapped), so his name really couldn’t be Teensoudini.sergiomonty wrote:Spiral... I think Teensoudini is his real name. Houdini was a famous magician, so the reference is possibly not only to the escape from the trap. They surely changed the name "magician" because it was too generic.

Ubisoft replaced them.
I personally see Origins as the true sequel to Rayman 1 that they never originally made, but that can still mean that it's set after Rayman 2 (but before Rayman 3). The original game deserved a proper 2D sequel and finally it's got one, although I'd still like to see them finish the 2D version of Rayman 2 (they won't).That doesn't prove anything, you're just confusing the timeline of the games' release with that of the events in Rayman's worlds, which are indeed totally unrelated. It doesn't mean I don't agree with you though, as it's obvious that Origins takes place after either Rayman 2 or Rayman 3.
It's sort of easier to brush the third game aside and treat Origins as the third game in a rather perfect trilogy, if you ask me...

Will I be considered wrong if I say that the Land of Livid Dead being so different is one more example of R3 being referenced in lesser way than R2/R1?

Re: Rayman Origins
The fact that they used ‘the Land of the Livid Dead’ as a level name at all constitutes a pretty direct reference to Rayman 3. I don’t see any contradiction between the two levels: the one in R3 is at the surface level, and the one in Origins is underground. There’s also a reference to some of the official lore from the R3 days: it was said that the Great Spirit Palmito imprisoned the Griskins so that they wouldn’t awaken any more of the sleeping spirits in the Land of the Livid Dead, which is exactly what Rayman and his friends do with their snoring at the beginning of Origins.stan423321 wrote:Will I be considered wrong if I say that the Land of Livid Dead being so different is one more example of R3 being referenced in lesser way than R2/R1?

Re: Rayman Origins
Speaking of Palmito, has his name anything to do with margarine or am I just #$%^&*ing up something?
And Griskins waking up those dead... well, that kinda sounds plausible.

Re: Rayman Origins
Even if there wasn't any reference to Rayman 3, this wouldn't constitute a proof that Origins takes place before it.
I like Spiral's idea of the Land of the Livid Dead in Origins being the subterranean part of the one in Rayman 3, cause except for the name I see absolutely no resemblance between the two.

Guys, I have a question. Does this "tough guy" deserve an article on the wiki? he's kind of a main character.

Sadly, I think he's nameless. He slightly resembles a grim reaper...

Re: Rayman Origins
So, I (as the last person on freaking Earth) finally got around to play the demo at a friend's house, and I was amazed by how good it looks, despite having watched several HD videos of it on Youtube. It's a bit weird though that the game doesn't have vibration, but that really just makes it feel more like the first game (which doesn't support DualShock controllers).
Both my friend and I got used to the controls almost immediately, and he hadn't even heard of the game before then.
We didn't die all that often either, which many others I've seen play seem to do, proving that some people are just fucking pro by nature!

I'm pretty sure they call him 'Grim'. I think I remember that from my brief spoiler time watching the first minute of the first level spoiler video.sergiomonty wrote:Guys, I have a question. Does this "tough guy" deserve an article on the wiki? he's kind of a main character.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, 6 years, 360 days down, 5 to go.
