I’ve been playing R1 for so long (11+ years) that I now find it very easy. The most important tip I can give you is that you can cancel Rayman’s helicopter by pressing the jump button a third time (or punching) – this allows you to helicopter for very short or moderate amounts of time, rather than waiting for the helicopter to run out on its own accord. Being able to do this well is a huge help in the most difficult levels, like Space Mama’s Crater.

Same here.

I usually say that as long a person fully gets used to the physics and gameplay mechanics of Rayman 1, you can master the game.

Currently on Mr. Stone's boss battle, but taking a break for a little bit. Boss battles can be so frustrating some times, and this goes for any game. At least they are kind enough to put a Power-up at the beginning

Hmm that's funny - because of Rayman 2 and Rayman GBC I automatically do this with any Rayman game. I just assume you can cancel his helicopter, and usually (not in R3 for example - but the whole helicopter system is different there) this is the case.

The Rayman Boss Battles got me too sometimes - especially the final battle was quite hard to do at times. However, I think the Mr. Skops one was the worst for me just because it took me so long to figure out how to not die in three seconds flat (won't tell you though - that would spoil your fun :P).
I think the most frustrating and annoying set of levels for me was Eat at Joe's. I died. So. Many. Times, it's just incredible. And especially my DSi version with the non-see through water disguising the one-toothed fish as stealthy ninjas of death got me angry at my screen more than once.
For the rest, it's challenging in a fun way.

And a nice tip: if you can beat the original Rayman, you can beat any game. Trust me. Even Halo Reach on Legendary setting isn't that bad when your reflexes have been honed by Rayman.

PS
Someone at my school has never played Rayman with the sound on! HOW INCREDIBLY IDIOTIC IS THAT?! How can you miss out on that piece of magic! ... Ok, rant over.

Though the helicopter can be cancelled by releasing the button.

Yes that's what I meant with the different system.

Hhhm, I know this seems a bit random, but has anyone else wondered why the sprite of the musician's child has purple-ish hair like it's mother, while in the credits artwork it has brown hair? Was the kid in the boat with Bzzit not the musician's child (Although the wiki says it is) or could he actually have two children (Possible when I think about it)? I feel silly for thinking so deeply into these things. :oops2:

Anyways, I used to play Rayman Advance allllll the time. Then I stopped playing it and eventually lost my Nintendo DS I played it on. :fou:
I think I got up to Mr Skop's Stalactites or something.

Oh that's a quite well-noticed little fact you've got there. And no, don't be ashamed of concucting all kinds of theories about the Rayman universe - it's what we fans love doing most!

I think it might very well be possible the musician has two children, although since they're only extras, I believe it will probably just have been some sort of mistake.

There's loads of colouring and drawing issues like this in the game. I think it just depends on the artist that drew/coloured each picture. Other noticeable ones include The Magician and Mr. Dark's inconsistent blue/purple colour scheme and the disappearing leaf neckerchief on Tarayzan. I wouldn't think to far into it. I'm pretty sure it's the same child :)

Hahaha, probably! Or maybe... A quick hair-dye session before the vacation? That, or the child has hair that turns brown in the sun and purple in the dark. Just kidding. :mryellow:

No wonder the mother was nudging it repeatedly and staring at it so strangely...

2.) I always thought they just traveled there and freed him as a thanks for him freeing them.
3.) R3 is a messed up game. XD It's not neccessarily a "Power of the Leptys" though.. it's more like.. a silly face Rayman makes to scare people off. XD

And I have all the music from the game too... :P If you put in the R1 disk (with the PC version) and open Media Player, you can simply listen to all the tracks right there. XD
