Re: Rayman Origins

Post by Electoon »

So, there still seems to be a mass confusion about what the story of this game even is, probably hindered by the fact that the teaser trailer in 2010 told the tale of a episodic prequel which wasn't to be. I have to admit, when nothing happened for months on end after that trailer was released, I believed that the project had either been abandoned or was just slowly falling apart. You wouldn't believe how pleasantly surprised I was to find that it had returned, was no longer episodic , had four player characters and Electoons

I have slowly found myself liking this game more and more over time (this is without having played it at all by the way). At the beginning I was all "What the heck? Why is it so hyperactive and why are Rayman and Globox acting like Spongebob and Patrick ". Hence my joke reaction video (which far too many people on Youtube took seriously). Then I thought "Ooh, this could be interesting. It's nice that they haven't forgotten about the cast from the first game". The more characters I noticed were returning, the more interested I became. While I'm still a little confused by some of the design choices, namely the fact that they've decided that Rayman should be the only limbless character aside from the electoons, and then started giving classic characters limbs, changing their species etc. I think a lot of my love from what I've seen was from a gameplay video of the Desert of Didgeridoos. The beautiful, night-time cloud background swept me away, truly reminding both me and my brother of Band Land from the first game.

And whats more, now that I own a Wii, I can play too! This looks like something that might be more fun in Co-op though, so I guess it's time to hunt down a second Wiimote :D

EDIT: Since I typed this, dozens more messages popped up, each still off-topic (aside the one on the skins). Looks like the situation has not improved. Come on guys, this is the Rayman Origins thread, not the offtopic board!

-and like that, Rayman3DS's life suddenly became much less blurry when he has learned this vital piece of information. He finally remembered his life, his backstory, his dark and shredded past, shrouded in dark mystery of the dark. It was indeed so dark, I have had to use that word triple the times needed. Quickly after learning the above-mentioned information, he switched off his computer and went to rethink his life, now knowing the details of it. Then he remembered something - a very dark, hidden, secret something - his grandmother visited Poland once and randez-vouz'ed with a handsome Polish young man in his twenties. Little did she know this man was about to join the Polish Army to fight for the good of his beloved country and defeat the so-known Big Bad - Adolph Hitler. When the two met, however, something happened - something wonderful, yet unpredictably surprising - the two fell in love. A spark of it (the love) burned violently between the two young lovebirds' eyes. Despite not knowing each other's language, they got along very well - a love without words, no doubt! After meeting the man whispered the only sentence he knew in English, hoping she would speak it and understand the message - ''...I love you''. The woman understood it perfectly and wanted to lead a happy life with him, yet he had to go - it was his duty as a Pole. BUT FIRST THEY HAD SEX AND THUS RULEZ'S FATHER WAS BORN THEREFORE MAKING R3DS AND RLZ BLOOD BROTHERS

I wonder why that is? Because of all that rambling last page? I hope it wasn't because of my wall of text ;)

EDIT: Started uploading an English with Rayman play-through video approximately 20 minutes ago, and it's still only 65% :pascontent:

I decided to buy the Wii version so I can run it on the computer via Dolphin while I wait for my Collector's Edition to arrive.

Hmm, anyway. Hey guys, a lot of things were scrapped from the game (even things that actually appear on the boxart like the grass-covered golem)... does the zombie chicken from the boxart make an appearance? If anyone has an answer, please use invisible text.

I'm back! I've passed the first 10 worlds.I want to make a list of every available skin for RayWiki since I have every skin but two.I ust have to see how many electoons do I need for the last one...why do we have to use transparent text? The game has already been released and the people who didn't want any spoiler went out for a while...

I have the NTSC Wii ISO of RO but I just won't play now because I prefer to wait 6 days more for my real copies.

@Electoon: The first trailer really did overplay Rayman's and Globox's "stupidity", and combined with the idea that the game was going to be a small episodic release, of course it seemed a bit underwhelming (although I was still excited because I used to think the series was effectively dead).
