^ That's...a really nice point of view if you make it look like that XD and yeah... I thought I was the only one who disliked rayman 2 ._. I mean, it's a platforming masterpiece if we talk about gameplay... but the plot is so cliché that it burns.

So I'm playing the Tricky Treasure in the Sea of Serendipity zone, and at the very end I keep dying. It's the bit where you've hopped out of the water and slid down the zipline, and the treasure dashes up between the two vertical beams. I keep trying to wall-jump up there, but I can never get high enough before the screen quickly scrolls to the right (killing me).

Is there a trick to this one, or do I just have to wall-jump up there more quickly?

I refuse to believe that ( a nymph winking at you ) is the ending to the level that took me an hour and a half to beat. There must be a secret ending, like, you collect all the Electoons, get all the trophies, and then all the medals and then beat The Land of the Livid Dead again. The final boss isn't even good, there is literally no build up to it, in fact, I think it would have been better as the boss of Mystical Pique like it originally was instead of Golly. G. Golem, who ALSO comes out of nowhere. There isn't even a ( final boss of the story, it is literally a regular shooter level, and there was already one of those in the world anyway!) UGH. The final world isn't even that good, anyway. Compared to Gormand Land and The Sea Of Serendipity, it is the most uncreative world. Lets add buzz saws and electricity to a big, grey, metallic place! There are only TWO real levels in it, and six levels in the world itself. The robot enemies aren't as charming as any other enemy, ESPECIALLY the Lividstones. Lets talk about the costumes, TOO MANY TEENSIES, not enough Globox and Rayman. Yeah, it's a cute idea to give the Teensies the most costumes so player 3 and 4 don't have to be black teensie and green teensie all the time, but most of them are ( blue teensie, zombie teensie, yellow teensie, pink teensie ( You know, for the girls ), crowned teensie, orange teensie, different kind of blue teensie, things that you can describe without giving too many details. What do you get for poor, old Globby? Red globox, purple globox. How 'bout Ray? Blue Rayman, Dark Rayman . And that amazing final boss music that never got used. GOD DAMN IT UBISOFT! :fou: :fou2: :fou3:

9.5 out of 10.
TL;DR: there are a lot of problems with this game, but more good things then bad things. Man that was a long rant.

Hey guys, just going through the ‘origins art book (awesome by the way) and on the very last page there is a final image of the Rayman and Globox statues that are seen throughout the game, along with a small piece of text that reads:
“They say, on the night the Shubamubans were created, the whole world smiled at the sound of the Bubble Dreamer’s belly-shaking laughter…The Lums shone more brightly and danced more merrily as the Heart of the World pulsed out the primordial rhythms of the Cosmos.
I don’t know about anybody else, but I find that kind of beautiful  also, what the hell are the Shubamubans?!?!? :fou:

sergiomonty wrote:I'm not using transparent text here because it's not necessary. Sorry spiraldoor, your theory is wrong, I have the manual, and he's confirmed to be "The Magician and his Magic Hat", (and also is confirmed to be Mr Dark on the Website, so, no, the magician is not an impostor, he's the real magician, and apparently, he was wearing a wig since rayman 1)
That’s what I was trying to say – [that the ‘real’ Magician was actually Mr Dark in disguise, and that they were one character from the very beginning.]
K.NARREN wrote:The first thing I understand about Spiraldoor is that he's horrifically anal. As just about everyone I've spoken to has said, it's a game. It's wonderful that they tried to bring in all these extra little tidbits for the fans, but ultimately every game might as well take place in a different universe, which tbh has always frustrated me to no end, so it's not like I don't sympathise with you here. But, I've been doing some detective work, and from what I can find the original script appears to still be true.
I don’t agree that I’m being ‘horrificially anal’ – I may have been puzzling over the identity of the villain for a while, but that sort of thing isn’t exactly unheard of in people who are invested in works of fiction. I’m just a fan trying to make sense of the story.

Regarding the continuity between the games – I’ve been under the impression that Origins marks a ‘new beginning’ for the series. The first three games had only a loose continuity with minimal references, and each seemed to take place in its own world, but the purpose of Origins is to retcon them together into a more cohesive universe. Gabrielle Shrager has told us this in as many words. Future Rayman games will probably work more coherently with Origins than the first three games worked with each other.
K.NARREN wrote:Spoilers follow-[ The second thing is that I spoiled the game for myself, watched all of the final battle- here's the thing. If you look around the office of the magician, there's pictures of the REAL mr Dark. He's bigger, he's much more of a triangle, and there's even a poster that effectively says 'I love mr D'. Ubi clearly wanted to hint at the story from the original script and while it doesn't come across very well, it does make sense that the Magician is an admirer in both versions. He's been missing for years, he's found out more about the lums- and what magical mysterious fellow wouldn't decide that actually, the guy harnessing the power to do amazing things might actually be right? It's a great twist and it actually leads to the idea that there may be sequels. I don't think either character is truly dead even after, but I do think that when you look at the art of origins mr dark and of the mr dark as seen in the fan posters in his room, you really understand that the magician is simply a massive fanboy.

As for the wig, it's a sight gag. It's funny. If Ubi can retcon things out of the blue like they have with this and all the other rayman games, then a wig can just be a sight gag.

The points you raise are the ones I’ve been struggling with. [The idea that the Magician is impersonating Mr Dark definitely has something going for it, namely character development – this would be the first time a Rayman character’s personality has undergone any interesting changes. You could call the Magician a tragic figure if you wanted to get classy about it. I guess the main thing I don’t like about this theory is that they promised us Mr Dark would be in the game – and not only in early material. The launch site and manual themselves specifically state that Mr Dark has returned. I don’t enjoy seeing fans get misinformed, confused and disappointed. Just so you know, I haven’t added anything to the wiki about them being the same character – my convictions aren’t that strong.

When the Magician takes off the star and loses the wig, it seems we’re supposed to see this as an ‘unmasking’ or a ‘reveal’. If the Magician isn’t Mr Dark, this doesn’t really make sense – removing the star and wig doesn’t ‘reveal’ anything. I realise that this is not exactly conclusive evidence, but we don’t have a lot to go on here.
]

By the way – what’s this about an ‘Art of Origins Mr Dark’? Does the art book have a picture of the original?
K.NARREN wrote:I don't want a war because I don't think anyone here has any bad intentions. But I do think that not looking at this as the way Ubi intended might be a bad idea. The theory above, added to everything else present, just seems to make more sense and leave more open for a sequel. And this is for the fans, not for what me or anyone else wants. It's that bit of optimism that's going to make people like me get hyped at your marvellous wiki, it's gonna get people to stop bitching, and it's gonna help out the original vision and the feeling over this gorgeous game.
But that’s the problem – we don’t really know if Ubisoft intended for us to think they were different characters. The fact that all the exposition was removed indicates that the idea was scrapped, but the remaining hints make it seem more ambiguous. Remember, they never planned for us to read that early script. As for the idea that the twist leaves more room for sequels, that may be so, but it’s more wishful thinking than a strong argument. I just wish we had some kind of direct confirmation either way.

Feel free to stick around. I still think your complaints about Ancel’s attitude towards Rayman 3 were silly, but you raised good points about Rayman 2’s problems, and now about Mr Dark and the Magician. Not many of our members bring challenging ideas.

yeah to speed up a little do a spin attack.
I need to quote this. 3D, could you explain what exactly must be done here? I don't understand what you mean with doing a spin attack, because it doesn't seem to be possible. Maybe I should just look up a youtube video this once.

EDIT: It turns out...I have a glitch!! When the mast drops, the screen that scrolls to the right quickly, is a glitch!

at 0:55, you see what it SHOULD be doing, if it doesn't, you have the glitch too.

Edit2: I read the comments on the video and somebody claims this glitch only happens if you play on the original Rayman skin. I'll go try with another character.

No.You don' have a glitch and the guy in the comments is lying or is idiot.I have played this same level with 2 players being P1 the Grand Minimus (Me,of course) and P2 was Globox. It happened anyways.I don't know why the guy in the video doesn't have it but I don't think it's a glitch

So you have had the treasure teleport to the other side and the screen swept across you to kill you, and you miraculously survived? That's hard for me to believe. Sorry.

I've already tried it three-dozen times, with different characters, and every time, this happened, except that I was killed, every time.

I just did my fastest.I was playing 2 co-op.I don't actually know what happened.I just was dying all the time and I suddenly got higher and passed.First my fried passed but the fire killed him so I'd tell you to be careful.I swear I did it, but I can't make you believe if you don't.I just know it was happening and now I have the skull tooth.
