Well, this is extremely interesting...
Just out of curiosity, does any of the translated interview answer any questions we asked that were sent?

In other words... Michel Ancel thinks that the rabbids are his mediocre, quickly-made creations, and that he would possibly create Rayman "5" based on the prototype of the scrapped Rayman 4... but without the rabbids? That feels good, man

meh i like the rabbits but i have a feeling that they could have done a much better job by not turning it into a party gamesergiomonty wrote:In other words... That actually sounds great. I really liked the original story of Rayman and Andre joining forces to defeat a common enemy. The only thing that's kind of cheesy is the whole "girlfriend" thing. I don't think Rayman needs a love interest.sergiomonty wrote:In other words... Same opinion here. This would start to feel Mario-ish.Sabertooth1000000000 wrote:The only thing that's kind of cheesy is the whole "girlfriend" thing. I don't think Rayman needs a love interest.

+711 Tings. I didn’t count the parts where you described what was happening, because you’re basically taking us to the cleaners here.

Has Rayman ever not had a cheesy character? Be honest here.Sabertooth1000000000 wrote:That actually sounds great. I don’t really mind if they give Rayman a girlfriend, as long as they don’t make up a lame Raygirl character to fit the bill. Just use Ly.
Re: Interview of Michel Ancel: the fans ask the questions!
Agreed. Ly is the best for that. Wasn't it officially stated somewere that he had a romance with her anyway?

Yes, but it was on a fairly obscure official site, so I’m not sure what the developers themselves think of the idea.

I'm excited that they might be reusing some of those scrapped ideas. Everything about the R4 prototype pretty much screamed 'big, epic showdown', and it would be amazing with a game that could recreate that feel. Also spiders!
Re: Interview of Michel Ancel: the fans ask the questions!
There was a Rayman artwork showing Rayman and Ly in a close relation. I agree that Rayman don't need a girl. I am even against giving him one.
Re: Interview of Michel Ancel: the fans ask the questions!
I know of which picture you're talking. I've heard things about it though... something about it not being actually official? (It's out there somewhere. I just can't find it at the moment)Pusianka wrote:There was a Rayman artwork showing Rayman and Ly in a close relation. I agree that Rayman don't need a girl. I am even against giving him one.
Anyway, you have an opinion that I respect. Many of Rayman's fan(girl)s have their own character who make out with him. There's one such person on deviantart who made her "raygirl" look like Amy the Hedgehog.
I'm all for Rayman as a happy single, but if Ubisoft forced him to have a girlfriend, let it be Ly.

It’s official all right:
http://web.archive.org/web/200001061938 ... pers1.html
They explain how it fits into the timeline and everything:
http://web.archive.org/web/200003031954 ... _txt3.html
This just reminded me that the old Island of Prhys thing that was mentioned here is true; I wonder if the same can be said for the rumour that Polokus is the father of the Teensies.

anyway spiral... how did you find that?
Re: Interview of Michel Ancel: the fans ask the questions!
Actually, the one I was looking for was called "Ooh la la" or something. It could be hanging somewhere on the raymanfanpage, but I must be on my way for now..

The Wayback Machine is a site that lets you browse archived versions of old web pages. Over the years we’ve found quite a few strange and obscure old Rayman pages with it. It’s difficult to search and navigate, so there could be more oddities waiting to be found by anyone willing to put in the effort.ikke471 wrote:anyway spiral... how did you find that?
