This abosolutley sucks, I'd start reccomending RO to people but the people at my school wouldin't be intersested in games like RO (Most people there can't even play games properly)

Re: Rayman Origins
Oh man those sales are depressing alright. Releasing it with so many big names was a huge mistake though.

Re: Rayman Origins
Maybe changing the game to a retail release wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Re: Rayman Origins
Haruka, in what order are you planning on beating the kings? I've already beaten two, and my order is: Poor Little Daisy, Heartburn (Which is what I'm calling that dragon chef), The Mockingbird, and last Murray.
I've beaten my first two in order.

Re: Rayman Origins
I defeated first the Daisy, and the Mocking Bird went next.
My 3rd king is going to be the dragon chef, and the Murray will be the last one.
Hopefully tomorrow night I can beat those two, and Monday night accessing the Moody Clouds.

Maybe it will sell better this Christmas. It's a great game. It deserves to sell better.

Nice. I myslef seemed to forget about the game for about a week, I need to catch up to where I should've been by now: In the Moddy Clouds at the least.Haruka wrote:I defeated first the Daisy, and the Mocking Bird went next.

Re: Rayman Origins
Something tells me that in the next days I'll be in the Land of the Livid Dead, and with some luck I beat the game 100% (no Electoons, Time Trial Trophies and Lum Medals missed so far) in the next weekend. This means it is not missing much more time anymore for my return to RayWiki, and to read everything I've missed since the second half of October.

Re: Rayman Origins
Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. Also all gamers love COD and Skyrim.
Stupid people... *facepalm*
I think 60 dollars really too much.. If they will reduce price, maybe RO will selling better.
But sad fact - platformers is not popular now
And it's unfair

Well, if it helps, I was in Morrisons yesterday and the xBox version was number 1 on their game chart...shelf...thing.

Re: Rayman Origins
$60 IS too much for this game. While there are some challenging levels, it doesn't take long to beat if you have the time to sit down for it. I beat it within 3 days (not in a row) of renting it from Gamefly and collected all but 1 electoon cage without use of a guide (can't locate the first one in Why So Crabby?).NotaKuroi wrote:Rayman has a bad sales because gamers think that 60 dollars for "XBLA game" is too excpensive. There aren't that many levels, and the replayability is lacking heavily, even as far as playformers go. There isn't any storyline to speak of. It's all up for interpretation. So that leaves little to desire when you want to wrap your mind about something.
Perhaps if they hadn't rushed the production of this game (I've heard that there was supposed to be a much deeper and better explained plot, which would include a showdown with "Mr. Dark" at the end) and thought more about making the replay value higher, the game would have sold better.
Even as a Rayman fan since the original game, sorry Ubisoft, this just isn't worth $60 to own. I will probably be waiting until it's in the bargain bin. 8|
Also, it's unfair to blame another popular title for the bad sales of another. Their target audiences are vastly different.

By the way, that notice is awful, I can't believe it, the game deserves more costumers!...however, they're somehow right, I mean...come on, look at the price! I got it cheaper because it's on wii, but the graphics suck balls! (kinda)

It's too bad you had to settle for the Wii version. It's freaking BEAUTIFUL on the PS3!!sergiomonty wrote:Me too.spiraldoor wrote:I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on The Reveal.

Re: Rayman Origins
People beat much longer games than Rayman Origins in less than one day; hell, I hear about people knocking over AAA titles in a single sitting. As for the Electoon cages, I don't think they're really supposed to be that difficult to find, what with the 'Help me!' sound effects and all.Luckster wrote:$60 IS too much for this game. You think 60 levels isn't enough? 60 levels, all playable in 2-4 player co-op, all with two Time-Trial challenges, all with multiple awards for Lum collecting? That's not enough replayability for you? I'd be interested to hear of any recent platformer that comes close. There aren't that many levels, and the replayability is lacking heavily, even as far as playformers go. There isn't any storyline to speak of. It's all up for interpretation. So that leaves little to desire when you want to wrap your mind about something.
As for the story, try telling that to the countless millions of people who line up every year to buy the latest Mario 'Oh no, Bowser has kidnapped the Princess!' Bros game.
Adding more story elements wouldn't have had any effect on the sales at all. Probably not even a single copy.Perhaps if they hadn't rushed the production of this game (I've heard that there was supposed to be a much deeper and better explained plot, which would include a showdown with "Mr. Dark" at the end) and thought more about making the replay value higher, the game would have sold better.
The overlap is much bigger than you'd think. The allure of high review scores is enough to drag a lot of people in who wouldn't otherwise pay attention, but many of them don't have enough cash to buy every game they'd like to.Even as a Rayman fan since the original game, sorry Ubisoft, this just isn't worth $60 to own. Oh, and while I'm here, who wants to know how many copies 'New Super Mario Bros Wii' sold? 22 MILLION. Seems like a lot of people were happy to pay $60 bucks for that one.

Re: Rayman Origins
Oh er $60 is like £38 and I paid way more for my collector's edition which I think is worth it.
About that sales news; if that's just a US figure it probably doesn't help that it had that douche from Harold and Kumar advertising it there, Rayman gets enough "the creators must have been on drugs" stick as it is and I wouldn't be shocked if the ad actually put people off buying it [not just cause he's from a druggie film, just the whole tone of the ad in general].
Over here I think we've had a bit better advertising, for a start with Brian Blessed [he did voice for that Kirby game as well], plus there's a promotion on right now at Cartoon Network's UK site: http://www.cartoonnetwork.co.uk/rayman [I'm a big kid, I entered just 'cause].
Oh well it's not like Rayman games hadn't sold at all, the fact that Rayman 1, Revolution and 3 all became PS platinums should tell us something, plus poor sales aren't always discouraging.

Re: Rayman Origins
I can't say i ever saw any TV advertising over here though. Having said that, I don't really watch much TV these days (limited access to it
) - but I'm sure someone else in the family would have said if Rayman was on the screen, so no...I thought advertising was weak in that sense.
Having said that, it currently has some really cool displays in all my local GAME/Gamestation stores, with cardboard cut outs of Rayman and the like

Re: Rayman Origins
It's been on a few freeview channels like CITV [anything but property/auction shows!!!!] but not much more [haven't checked the ads on other kids channels like Nick], and there have been some displays in some of our game stores as well, one of which I actually have in my bedroom ;P
Re: Rayman Origins
They actually had some huge banner ads on Youtube this week, and I've seen smaller ads on a handful of other sites too. Hopefully the sales kick up A) Over Christmas, and B) Once the 3DS and Vita versions drop (especially since the Vita and 3DS will have fairly small libraries at launch).
